ESPN Cleveland reports the Browns are prepared to move on from FB Owen Marecic if he fails to impress in training camp.
Marecic's roster spot is in jeopardy for the second straight offseason. He appeared in 10 games in 2012, but struggled mightily and could be replaced by Brad Smelley or Kellen Davis. Marecic was targeted on four passes last year, and dropped all four. The Browns are also considering moving Chris Ogbonnaya to fullback. Jun 8 - 8:28 PM

Browns FB Owen Marecic's roster spot appears to be in jeopardy for the second straight offseason.

Marecic appeared in ten games in 2012, but lost his starting job and will be "hard-pressed to get it back," according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Marecic was a 2011 fourth-round pick out of Stanford, and the Browns could turn back to the draft for fullback help. They also have H-back Brad Smelley on the roster.

Browns FB Owen Marecic's roster spot could be in jeopardy following the team's selection of Brad Smelley in April's draft.

Marecic is a lead blocker, whereas Smelley is a smaller pass-catcher. The Browns will want a strong lead blocker for Trent Richardson, but could unload Marecic if Smelley shows he's a capable battering ram. Although it's unlikely, Marecic could also convert to linebacker, a position he played at Stanford.

Via their 2011 trade down with the Falcons, the Browns ultimately picked up FB Owen Marecic, QB Brandon Weeden, WR Greg Little, and NT Phil Taylor.

The 118th pick in the 2012 draft was also acquired from Atlanta, though the Browns used it in their one-spot trade up for Trent Richardson. While the jury is still out on all the players acquired, at first glance it appears to be quite a haul. Julio Jones is going to be the best player in the deal of course, but the trade may work out well for both sides. The Browns are building a roster.

Browns FB Owen Marecic was forced from Thursday's game with a head injury.

Like Ben Watson, this would be Marecic's second of the season if it turns out to be a concussion. The rookie out of Stanford was also forced out of the Week 11 game with a concussion. The Browns confirmed after the game that Marecic was indeed concussed.

Browns rookie FB Owen Marecic suffered a concussion in the team's Week 11 win and did not return.

He'll need to pass the NFL's protocol concussion testing in order to be cleared for Week 12. Marecic, a fourth-round pick out of Stanford, has nine touches on offense this season. He's been a lead blocker and special teamer.

The Browns believe fourth-round pick Owen Marecic can eventually be a pass-catcher out of the backfield.

A bruising fullback who also played linebacker at Stanford, Marecic should be mostly used as a blocker and on special teams in 2011, but could eventually earn himself some carries and short-yardage pass attempts. Regardless, he's unlikely to ever be a factor in fantasy leagues.

Browns selected Stanford FB Owen Marecic with the No. 124 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.

A rare two-way player at Stanford, Marecic lined up at linebacker in addition to fullback. The Browns are obviously hoping he approaches blocking with a linebacker's mentality, and make no mistake, blocking will indeed be his niche, as he is not a particularly talented runner or pass catcher. He has the ability to develop into a lead blocker for years to come.
