Jets CB Buster Skrine is done for the day in Week 14 with a concussion.
Skrine already suffered a concussion this season, so this could be a multi-week injury. Because they are not contending for anything, the Jets may have to consider holding Skrine out for the rest of the year. Sun, Dec 11, 2016 05:49:00 PM

Jets CB Buster Skrine (knee) is listed as doubtful for Week 8.

Skrine has not been having a good season -- he got benched in mid-October -- but his absence further improves Josh McCown's matchup by putting a backup on the field. McCown is an underrated streamer in season-long leagues this week. McCown is also dirt cheap on DFS sites.

Jets CB Buster Skrine has agreed to cut his base salary from $6.5 million to $2.75 million.

The $3.75 million he's losing in base salary was converted into a signing bonus. The restructure reduces Skrine's cap number from $7.754 million to $5.254 million. The slot corner is under contract through 2018, though his base salaries for 2017 and 2018 are non-guaranteed.

Coach Todd Bowles expects Buster Skrine to be the Jets' No. 2 cornerback entering training camp.

That would be a problem for Gang Green, but Skrine is unquestionably the second best corner currently on the roster. That could change following the draft, of course. Skrine is a slot corner who would man the inside in all nickel situations. The Jets will ultimately probably find a different solution to line up opposite Darrelle Revis on the perimeter in their base defense, but Skrine does have plenty of experience on the boundary.

Jets CB Buster Skrine (shoulder, hand) is questionable for Week 10 against the Bills.

The Jets' top slot corner, played through the injury in Week 9 and should be considered likely to play Thursday night. They need him with RCB Antonio Cromartie (thigh) and SS Calvin Pryor (ankle) likely to miss.

Jets CB Buster Skrine (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Week 9 against the Jaguars.

He practiced on a limited basis all week. Skrine has been banged up all year but hasn't missed a game yet. We imagine he'll continue that trend Sunday against Jacksonville.

Jets CB Buster Skrine (hand) is questionable for Week 8 against the Raiders.

He expects to play Sunday but will have to wear a cast on his broken left hand. It's been a rough few games for Skrine. He was diagnosed with a concussion two weeks ago but healed fast enough to play against New England last Sunday. That's when he broke the fifth metacarpal bone in his left hand.

Jets CB Buster Skrine (concussion) is probable for Week 7 against the Patriots.

Skrine made a quick recovery from last week's brain injury, and it will be all hands on deck for the Jets against New England. Skrine will handle his normal slot duties between Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie and likely draw Danny Amendola in coverage. Revis may end up sticking to Julian Edelman.

Jets CB Buster Skrine exited Week 6 against the Redskins with a concussion.

Skrine suffered the injury just before halftime and did not return. Skrine is the Jets' primary slot corner and would play an important role against the Patriots this week if he were healthy. Dexter McDougle replaced Skrine in the second half.

Jets signed CB Buster Skrine to a four-year, $25 million contract with $13 million guaranteed.

The Jets are players for all the top-flight corners, including Antonio Cromartie and Darrelle Revis. They'll at least land Skrine, who was PFF's No. 82 corner last year while playing opposite Joe Haden. He can play both the slot and the perimeter, and is entering his age-26 season. Skrine will be a nice get if he can clean up the penalties.

ESPN's Josina Anderson reports the Jets and free agent Buster Skrine have mutual interest.

New York's approach to free agency is quite simple: land a top cornerback or die trying. Add Skrine's name to a list that already includes Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie. Byron Maxwell had been an option for the Jets as well prior to signing with Philadelphia. With over $43 million left in cap space, the Jets won't go quietly. If Revis and Cromartie pass, expect New York to go all-in for Skrine.

"Several league sources" tell the Cleveland Plain Dealer that free agent CB Buster Skrine will be "highly sought after."

Skrine has maintained an open dialogue with the Browns, but is expected to reach free agency. Capable of manning both the slot and perimeter, Skrine is one of the highlights of an unappetizing corner market. Ideally, Skrine would remain in the slot, but he's still only 26 (in April). His game is projectable.

Free agent CB Buster Skrine is believed to be seeking $6.5 million per year.

It would presumably be a tough price for the Browns to pay after they made Joe Haden a $12-plus million-per-year player last offseason. Skrine's asking price may be a bit aggressive, but we don't doubt he'll get paid as a versatile corner who can play man coverage. Skrine doesn't turn 26 until April.

Coach Mike Pettine said at the Combine that the Browns want to re-sign free agent CB Buster Skrine.

Skrine may have different plans as one of the top young corners on a weak cornerback market. The Browns already have well over $11 million per year committed to Joe Haden. Skrine may command $5-plus million annually.

Free agent CB Buster Skrine told Sirius NFL Radio that he intends on testing the open market.

Although Skrine gave up production playing opposite Joe Haden in Cleveland, he's likely to be viewed as an ascending corner in free agency. He's not yet 26 years old and is capable of playing both perimeter and slot corner. There is some young Brent Grimes to Skrine's game. Grimes also gave up a fairly generous amount of production early in his career with the Falcons.
