Panthers coach Ron Rivera said he hasn't decided whether CB Josh Thomas will start in Thursday's night game against the Bucs.

Thomas was benched in the second half of Week 7 after getting beat twice deep. He'll likely be replaced by undrafted rookie Melvin White in the starting lineup and limited to a sub-package role this week. Thomas has struggled in pass coverage this season, but is currently the No. 6 corner in run support by Pro Football Focus. Perhaps the Panthers should consider a move to safety.

Panthers CB Josh Thomas was benched during the second half of the Week 7 win over the Rams.

Thomas got beat twice on long balls, although one was called back by penalty. He was replaced by a combination of undrafted rookie Melvin White and veteran Drayton Florence. Thomas is ProFootballFocus' No. 85 corner in terms of pass coverage this season.

Panthers LCB Josh Thomas has been medically cleared from his Week 3 concussion.

Thomas got healthy during Carolina's Week 4 bye. It's good news for opposing passing games because Thomas has been getting lit up consistently in coverage.

Panthers LCB Josh Thomas (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 3.

The Panthers are so thin at cornerback that we're not even sure whom they're going to start against the Giants. Eli Manning has a terrific Week 3 matchup.

Panthers CB Josh Thomas left Sunday's Week 2 game against the Bills with a head injury.

Thomas was involved in a collision with Robert Woods and is being evaluated for a possible concussion. His return is questionable. Josh Norman will replace him at left cornerback.

Panthers CB Josh Thomas took the majority of minicamp reps with the first-team defense.

With Captain Munnerlyn sidelined, Thomas has been the No. 2 corner behind Josh Norman. The Panthers did very little to improve their secondary this offseason. Free agent pickup Drayton Florence is expected to see significant playing time in sub-defenses.

The Charlotte Observer expects Josh Thomas to play behind Josh Norman this season.

Norman struggled as a fifth-round rookie last season, ending up benched in favor of Thomas to close out the year. But he has significantly more upside and has been talked up relentlessly by GM Dave Gettleman. Regardless, the Panthers' secondary is going to be one for fantasy owners to exploit once again. A cornerback quartet of Norman, Drayton Florence, Captain Munnerlyn and Thomas just isn't going to cut it.

Panthers claimed CB Josh Thomas off waivers from the Cowboys.

A fifth-round pick out of the University at Buffalo, Thomas is an interesting developmental project as a physical corner with 4.43 forty speed. He could have a future as a nickel back.

Cowboys waived or released CB Josh Thomas, CB Mario Butler, LB Mike Balogun, LB Kenwin Cummings, LB Orie Lemon, S Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, CB Chris Randle, DE Jimmy Saddler-McQueen, S Andrew Sendejo, LB Brandon Williams and S Collin Zych.

A fifth-round pick, the Dallas-native Thomas is likely ticketed for the practice squad.

Cowboys signed fifth-round CB Josh Thomas to a four-year contract.

Thomas is a Dallas native that started 22 of his final 24 college games at corner. He'll focus on trying to make the team as a nickel corner that can also help at safety in a pinch.

Cowboys selected Buffalo CB Josh Thomas with the No. 143 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.

Thomas managed just two career interceptions as a 3 1/2-year starter for the Bulls, but did show some physicality with five forced fumbles in his final three seasons. At 5'10/196, Thomas ran a 4.43 forty time at his March Pro Day. The Cowboys will probably try to develop him into a nickel back or No. 2 corner. He's still going to be a project.
