Browns LG Jason Pinkston (blood clot in lung) tweeted on Monday that he has been 100 percent medically cleared.

However, Pinkston is not expected to participate in this week's voluntary pre-draft minicamp. Pro Football Focus graded Pinkston as a top-25 guard prior to his Week 7 placement on injured reserve. If he keeps progressing well, the 25-year-old should be ready for OTAs.

Browns LG Jason Pinkston tweeted Wednesday that the blood clot in his right leg is now gone.

A pulmonary embolism ended Pinkston's 2012 season after six starts. The Browns still don't know his availability for 2013, but it sounds like his recovery is progressing. A promising brawler in the trenches, Pinkston is still only 25 years old. Cleveland does have a rock-solid left guard backup in John Greco.

The Browns won't be sure of LG Jason Pinkston's (blood clot in lung) 2013 status for "a while."

The word comes from new coach Rob Chudzinski. Pinkston was previously expected to have a "normal" offseason, and that should still end up the case. Pinkston is the favorite to keep his left guard job in 2013.

Pinkston still hasn't been cleared for football activities, but the Browns expect him to have a normal offseason and report to training camp as a starter. A fifth-round pick in 2011, Pinkston is set to make $500,000 in the third year of his rookie deal and is under contract through 2014.

Browns LG Jason Pinkston (blood clot in lung, injured reserve) has been cleared to begin weightlifting and conditioning.

Pinkston was enjoying a fine season before going down in Week 6, but his career is still in the balance. Head coach Pat Shurmur was uncertain of Pinkston's long-term outlook, "It's hard for me to tell what the long range is for him." John Greco has filled in admirably at left guard for Cleveland. Pinkston will enter the third year of his four-year rookie deal in 2013.

Browns placed LG Jason Pinkston on injured reserve with a blood clot in his lung, ending Pinkston's season.

It's a tough break for Pinkston, who was off to a terrific start this season after struggling in his rookie year. The Browns do have an effective run-blocking replacement in John Greco, but they may not be able to afford to lose any more offensive line starters without experiencing a dramatic drop-off. Pinkston is under contract for $550K in 2013 and should return as a starter.

Browns LG Jason Pinkston (illness) is not expected to return this season.

Pinkston was hospitalized Thursday with a blood clot in his lung and is dealing with a potentially career-threatening injury, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The Browns have yet to officially announce whether he'll be placed on injured reserve. John Greco will start in his place in Week 7 against the Colts.

Browns LG Jason Pinkston has been diagnosed with a blood clot in his lung and is out indefinitely.

He's currently in the hospital and will be replaced by John Greco against the Colts. Greco is a formidable run blocker, so the drop-off won't be a back breaker for Trent Richardson's Week 7 outlook. Pinkston, a second-year player, has graded out as a top-25 overall guard through six games, per Pro Football Focus.

Browns LT Joe Thomas believes second-year LG Jason Pinkston is capable of becoming a "great player."

Pinkston struggled while converting from college tackle to NFL guard as a rookie without an offseason, but he is a brawling mauler on the interior with a big upside. "I think he’s gonna be one of the top guards in the league," Thomas said. "He’s made a big jump already from where he was last year, and he’s gonna be a great player on this line for a lot of years." The Browns' promising, power-blocking line is one big plus for rookie back Trent Richardson.

The Browns are expected to keep 2011 fifth-round pick Jason Pinkston at left guard moving forward.

Pinkston was a three-year starter at tackle in college, and the Browns have a need at right tackle. They just don't believe Pinkston is capable of moving back there. A 16-game starter at left guard as a rookie, Pinkston graded out as one of the league's worst offensive linemen by Pro Football Focus.

Fifth-round rookie Jason Pinkston is the favorite to replace Eric Steinbach (back surgery) at left guard.

Oniel Cousins, picked up off waivers from the Ravens, will begin his Browns career at tackle. Though Pinkston has plenty of promise, he's not ready yet to be an asset as a starter. Peyton Hillis' value takes a hit, as the majority of his production came off the left side behind Steinbach and Joe Thomas last season.

Jason Pinkston - G - Browns

Browns signed fifth-round G/T Jason Pinkston to a four-year contract.

Pinkston was a mauling tackle at Pittsburgh, but the Browns are trying him at guard first. He has long arms and can double as a bruiser, so left guard would seem to be his long-term position. LG Eric Steinbach is declining rapidly.

Browns coach Pat Shurmur said that fifth-round OL Jason Pinkston will start out at guard.

Shurmur added that Pinkston can play tackle -- his position in 38 of his 41 college starts -- but bringing him along slowly on the inside seems wise. Slowing down edge rushers is a spot that Pinkston needs help at.

Browns traded up with the Vikings to select Pitt OT Jason Pinkston with the No. 150 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.

Nice value for the fifth round. Pinkston was a three-year starter for the Panthers, including All-Conference honors as a Senior. He's a solid pass protector, not afraid to blow up a defender. Pinkston struggles with edge rushers, though, so he's headed for the right side in Cleveland.
