Second-year Lions LB Doug Hogue is expected to have a bigger role this season.

A fifth-round pick, Hogue played just 13 defensive snaps as a rookie, but made six special teams tackles in 13 games. Hogue should be in for more snaps as a reserve linebacker, but is still well off the radar in IDP leagues.

Lions signed fifth-round LB Doug Hogue to a four-year contract.

Hogue is a long-term prospect for the linebacker-needy Lions. His athleticism gives him a chance, but he must get stronger and better in coverage. Don't expect an impact as a rookie.

Doug Hogue - LB - Panthers

Lions selected Syracuse LB Douglas Hogue with the No. 157 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.

Extremely athletic and excellent in space, Hogue is still considered a very raw prospect, however. He needs to add bulk, and must improve his coverage skills after getting frequently caught out of position at Syracuse. He has a lot of upside, but many improvements to make before Detroit can run him out on the field for a meaningful number of snaps.
