Cardinals sixth-round rookie David Carter has been installed as Dan Williams' backup at nose tackle.
Carter is "just" 6'5/297, shaped more like a defensive end than a nose tackle for a 3-4 scheme. He's much more physically fit than Williams, though, and the Cardinals sound excited about Carter's progress. "Just seems every time we have practice or any kind of situation, he shows up," coach Ken Whisenhunt said. Wed, Aug 17, 2011 09:56:00 AM

Cardinals selected UCLA DT David Carter with the No. 184 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.

A reserve his first three seasons at UCLA, Carter broke out for 41 tackles and four sacks last season. Has great explosiveness and lateral quickness, but needs to work on his technique, particularly with his hands. A great upside pick, he could prove to be a day-three steal for the Cardinals.
