Pittsburgh veteran LB James Harrison leads the team with five sacks while playing in his 13th season.
Harrison is the oldest non-kicker or non-quarterback in the NFL and is still a worry for opposing teams. "He’s not 38, there’s no way," Cleveland coach Hue Jackson said. "He’s playing his tail off. I love the guy. He’s a tremendous competitor, a tremendous worker." Harrison is in the second year of a two-year deal but has not ruled out a return in 2017. Despite likely resting starters throughout the game, the Steelers D/ST is a worthwhile fantasy start in Week 17 against a Cleveland team that has allowed an NFL-high 62 sacks on the season. Pittsburgh DC Keith Butler plans on using a variety of defensive schemes to limit Buffalo QB Tyrod Taylor's rushing impact.

Taylor leads NFL quarterbacks with 469 rushing yards, a factor the Steelers hope to take away. "Sometimes you can spy. Sometimes you’ve got to rush spy. Sometimes you’ve got to rush four. Sometimes you’ve got to drop in zone coverage and keep your eyes on the quarterback as much as you can," said Butler. Pittsburgh has allowed just 10.0 points per game in the last three weeks while the Steelers D/ST has turned in three consecutive top-10 fantasy performances. The Steelers D/ST will be a mid-tier fantasy option in frigid conditions at Buffalo in Week 14.

With QB Andrew Luck (concussion) ruled out, the Steelers D/ST will face backup QB Scott Tolzien on Thursday.

The Steelers D/ST delivered a huge fantasy performance in a cushy streaming spot in Week 11 at Cleveland, and is staring at another prime matchup in Week 12 with Luck declared out. Tolzien has thrown one regular season pass since 2013 and has one career touchdown pass to go with five career interceptions. The Steelers D/ST is a top-tier fantasy option in Week 12.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing to face Dallas RB Ezekiel Elliott in Week 10.

The Steelers have a difficult task ahead, as Elliott has averaged 111.4 yards per game through the first half of his rookie season. "Be physical at the line of scrimmage, get penetration and we have to tackle well," said defensive end Cam Heyward. Pittsburgh is currently 13th in run defense, but has allowed two opposing running backs to top 100 yards in their last three games. The Steelers D/ST won't be a recommended fantasy option against the Cowboys on Sunday.

The Pittsburgh secondary has yet to record an interception through seven weeks.

The Steelers have just three interceptions on the season, with no help coming from their defensive backs. In addition to the lack of turnovers, the Steelers have recorded just eight sacks in seven games, tied for the lowest total in the NFL. DC Keith Butler will look to get his defense back on the right track after their Week 8 bye, when they will travel to face AFC North rival Baltimore.

Pittsburgh DE Cam Heyward will miss at least the next two weeks with a hamstring injury.

Heyward, the leader of the Steelers defense with three sacks, was injured in Week 5 against the Jets. Pittsburgh will now face Miami in Week 6 without the defensive end, but the Steelers D/ST will still be a top-10 fantasy option against QB Ryan Tannehill, who has thrown seven interceptions and taken 17 sacks this season. Pittsburgh has allowed more than 16 points in only one game in 2016 and will look to continue that trend on Sunday.

The Pittsburgh defense has allowed just 101 total rushing yards through two weeks, the second-best mark in the NFL.

The Steelers shut down Washington in Week 1 before stuffing division rival Cincinnati in Week 2. "We understand the importance of stopping the run," linebacker Arthur Moats said. "It's just a different mentality: No one runs on us." A road trip to Philadelphia awaits the Steelers D/ST in Week 3, where the group will be a mid-tier fantasy option.

The Pittsburgh defense will likely face Cleveland quarterback Austin Davis in Week 17 as Johnny Manziel deals with concussion issues.

The Browns managed just three points and 273 total yards of offense in Davis' only other start of the season, with Davis throwing for 230 yards and an interception. The matchup makes the Steelers D/ST worth a look as a streaming option in fantasy leagues this week even after a disappointing effort against Baltimore's Ryan Mallett in Week 16.

The Steelers will likely face either Jimmy Clausen or Ryan Mallett at quarterback in Week 16 when they travel to Baltimore.

Coach Gary Kubiak has yet to announce a starter, and Clausen, Mallett, as well as Matt Schaub are all potentially in the mix to start. No matter who is under center for Baltimore, the Steelers D/ST will be an excellent choice in fantasy leagues this week, as the Ravens have turned the ball over at least twice in every game since Joe Flacco was injured. Kubiak should announce a starter in coming days but the Steelers D/ST should be owned in fantasy leagues immediately.

The Pittsburgh defense will look to take advantage of the Denver offensive line that allowed five sacks in Week 14.

The Denver offense was terrorized by Oakland LB Khalil Mack last week, who was responsible for all five sacks allowed by the Broncos. This week, Pittsburgh will look to keep pressure on Brock Osweiler. "But he does make some good throws. He does have a good arm and he’s done a good job for them. I know he’s given up more sacks. That’s not all his fault all the time. We have to try to do as much as we can to take advantage of him and get to the quarterback," said Pittsburgh DC Keith Butler. The Steelers D/ST is worth a look as a Week 15 streaming option and also gets a nice matchup with Baltimore in Week 16.

Pittsburgh has allowed over 300 passing yards in three of their last four contests.

The Steelers shut down the Indianapolis passing game in Week 13, but gave up big yardage leading up to that game. On the season, Pittsburgh is 29th in pass defense, allowing 275.5 yards through the air each week and will be a mid-tier option in Week 14 on the road at Cincinnati. The Steelers D/ST is not worth starting in fantasy leagues this week, but is a worthwhile bench add looking forward to a Week 16 date at Baltimore.

With Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch (sports-hernia surgery) ruled out, the Pittsburgh defense will attempt to corral rookie RB Thomas Rawls on Sunday.

Rawls is coming off a monstrous 255-total yard performance in Week 11 and is averaging a beefy 6.0 yards per carry this season. In games in which he has received 16 or more carries, Rawls has run for 132.5 yards per game and 6.2 yards per tote. The Steelers D/ST will have its hands full with the powerful rookie and will be a mid-tier fantasy option in Week 12.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been successful while rushing the passer in 2015, with the help of their linebacker rotation.

Outside linebackers coach Joey Porter talked to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about rotating linebackers this season to keep them fresh. "If you think you’re getting a fresh rush when a guy’s rushing 50 times and you’re getting his best rush, you’re not. I mean, your energy is going to go down, you’re going to do a rush that has no juice on it," said Porter. The Steelers are fourth among NFL defenses with 28 sacks this season and will face Seattle in Week 12 after a Week 11 bye.

The Pittsburgh defense faces an intriguing home matchup with Cleveland in Week 10, who is 29th in scoring offense at 19.7 points per game.

The Browns also check in at 31st among NFL teams in rushing offense, averaging a paltry 82.3 rushing yards per game. With a lackluster running game and a dinged-up quarterback in Josh McCown (ribs), the matchup with Cleveland makes the Steelers D/ST worth streaming consideration in fantasy leagues this week.
Wed, Nov 11, 2015 05:25:00 AM

The Pittsburgh defense has struggled with pass defense in 2015, allowing opposing passers to throw for 276.9 passing yards per game with a 68.8 completion percentage.

Both marks are in the bottom-five among NFL defenses, and the Steelers D/ST will have its hands full as the Cincinnati Bengals visit Heinz Field on Sunday. Cincinnati has the NFL's fifth-best passing offense, registering 288.2 passing yards per game, and will make the Steelers D/ST a risky fantasy option in Week 8.
