NJ Advance Media's James Kratch believes Giants WLB J.T. Thomas is on the roster bubble.

Thomas was an 11-game starter last season, but Kratch reports he has been passed on the depth chart by Jonathan Casillas. He also missed time during the offseason program with an undisclosed injury. The Giants do not have much quality, but they have plenty of bodies at linebacker. Thomas will have to stay healthy to have any shot at a roster spot.

ESPN Giants reporter Dan Graziano believes newly-signed LB J.T. Thomas is the favorite to start at weakside linebacker.

The Giants are apparently concerned Devon Kennard lacks the speed to be effective in coverage on the weak side. Thomas has not been particularly effective in coverage during his four-year career, but is a strong run defender. Kennard figures to move to the strong side, with Jon Beason stationed in the middle. Jameel McClain and Mark Herzlich will provide depth.

Bears LB J.T. Thomas was arrested in Morgantown (WV) Monday morning for misdemeanor marijuana possession.

The arrest will hurt Thomas' chances of making the Bears' 53-man roster after the team was reportedly "unpleased" with his physicality as a rookie.
