Bears LB J.T. Thomas is expected to be cleared of a misdemeanor drug possession charge before the regular season begins.
Thomas was charged with possession of less than 15 grams of marijuana after driving the wrong way on a one-way street in February. As long as he completes the terms of a deferred sentence, the charge is likely to be dropped. Thomas is not expected to face NFL suspension. Fri, May 25, 2012 08:56:00 AM

Bears LB J.T. Thomas was arrested in Morgantown (WV) Monday morning for misdemeanor marijuana possession.

The arrest will hurt Thomas' chances of making the Bears' 53-man roster after the team was reportedly "unpleased" with his physicality as a rookie. A sixth-round pick who spent his first season on I.R., Thomas was pulled over at 3:55 AM for driving the wrong way on a one-way street. Police discovered two baggies of marijuana in Thomas' glove compartment after a search. The misdemeanor charge accuses Thomas of possessing less than 15 grams of weed.
