The Rams are showing interest in free agent LB Jacquian Williams.
The Rams have been in contact with his agent. Williams tied a career-high with 78 tackles last season, playing in nine games. If the Rams cut Jo-Lonn Dunbar as they're expected to, Williams would have a chance to start at strong-side linebacker. He mostly played on the weak side when he was with New York. Free agent WLB Jacquian Williams will test the open market.

Williams was a full-time starter prior to landing on I.R. last season, recording 78 tackles over nine games. He should be limited to backup offers in free agency. The Giants will look to upgrade on Williams opposite SLB Devon Kennard.

Giants placed WLB Jacquian Williams on injured reserve with a concussion, ending his season.

Williams last played in Week 10. He had been an every-snap player before going down, notching 78 tackles. A 2011 sixth-rounder who has spent his entire career with the Giants, Williams is headed for free agency. He's unlikely to draw interest as a starter, and will most likely be back with the G-Men as a reserve.

Giants WLB Jacquian Williams played all 68 defensive snaps in Monday night's loss to the Lions.

He was an every-down linebacker, playing in dime packages over Jon Beason. Williams struggled despite not leaving the field, grading out negatively in coverage by Pro Football Focus. He looked overmatched in Week 1, but Williams is expected to keep his three-down role going forward.

Jacquian Williams is "entrenched" as the Giants' starting weak-side linebacker, and is expected to be an every-down player in 2014.

"Yeah, he is," LBs coach Jim Hermann confirmed. "He did a good job (this spring)." Primarily a nickel linebacker in 2013, Williams added offseason muscle and has bypassed Spencer Paysinger. Jameel McClain is expected to start at Sam linebacker. Jon Beason, once he gets healthy, will be the starter at Mike.

ESPN New York reports Jacquian Williams remains in the mix for the Giants' weak-side linebacker job.

Williams was listed behind Spencer Paysinger on the Giants' first unofficial depth chart, but has been getting some reps with the first-team defense. After missing six games due to a knee injury last season, Williams has the potential to emerge as a three-down linebacker if he can stay healthy.

ESPN New York expects the Giants to use WLB Jacquian Williams as a three-down linebacker.

Williams is working his way back from offseason knee surgery and will compete with Spencer Paysinger for the starting weak-side linebacker job. With Keith Rivers and Mark Herzlich both suspect in pass coverage, Williams is a strong candidate for an every-down role once healthy.

Giants WLB Jacquian Williams is still recovering from his 2012 knee injury.

Williams' injury is of the PCL variety, and cost him six games last season. "Just kind of taking my time with it," Williams said. "It is a day to day thing. It is getting better. Definitely better than it was. That’s all." Williams will compete with Spencer Paysinger to replace Michael Boley at weak-side linebacker.
Wed, May 22, 2013 05:35:00 PM

ESPN New York calls Jacquian Williams the "natural replacement" for released WLB Michael Boley.

Williams has spent the past two seasons as a nickel 'backer and the Giants seem to believe he's ready for a promotion. The 24-year-old finished 2012 with 30 tackles and one sack in ten games, starting three. Should Williams win the weak-side linebacker job out of camp, he'll be on IDP radars as an LB3/4.

Giants LB Jacquian Williams (knee) is officially listed as probable and is expected to play in Week 14 against the Saints.

Williams has been sidelined since Week 6 with a sprained PCL. He played a hybrid linebacker-safety role for the Giants before the injury and is expected to have the same responsibilities when he returns. Williams averaged just 25 snaps in his six games this season. With similar usage likely, he's well off the IDP radar.

Giants reserve LB Jacquian Williams (knee) is not expected to play in Sunday's game against the Redskins.

You don't want to be without your fastest linebacker when Robert Griffin III is coming to town. Williams will likely be replaced in sub packages by Keith Rivers.

Giants LB Jacquian Williams (questionable, sprained foot) has shed his protective boot.

The Giants' primary nickel linebacker expects be active for Super Bowl XLVI. "It’s better," Williams said. "It is a day-to-day thing. But I will be there (on Sunday)."

Giants LB Jacquian Williams (sprained foot) says he'll be ready for Super Bowl XLVI.

"It's nothing serious," Williams said. "I'll be there. I'll be ready for the game." A staple of the Giants' nickel packages, Williams is currently sporting a protective boot, but will be active for the Super Bowl barring a setback.

Giants LB Jacquian Williams revealed Friday that he has a sprained right foot.

This explains why he showed up in a walking boot on Friday. Williams has more than a week to heal up and has promised to play in Super Bowl XLVI.
Fri, Jan 27, 2012 02:25:00 PM

Giants LB Jacquian Williams showed up to the team facility with a walking boot on his foot Friday.

The extent of Williams' injury is unclear, but he is one of New York's primary nickel linebackers alongside SLB Michael Boley. Williams' absence from the Super Bowl would be worrisome because the Giants will likely be in constant nickel alignments against the Patriots. We'll have an update next week.
