Dolphins signed CB Justin Rogers.

Rogers will provide depth in the secondary after the Dolphins sent Dimitri Patterson and R.J. Stanford to injured reserve. Rogers should see most of his time on special teams, however.

Texans claimed CB Justin Rogers off waivers from the Bills.

Rogers, 26 in January, was cut by the Bills on Tuesday. He started the first five games of the season for the Bills due to injuries and was getting torched. Rogers will be depth in Houston. ILB D.J. Smith was waived to make room.

Bills waived CB Justin Rogers.

The 2011 seventh-rounder started the Bills' first five games as they dealt with a wave of injuries in their cornerback corps, but had been a healthy scratch each of the past six weeks. Rogers was picked on relentlessly during his time in the starting lineup, getting frequently burned. Rogers' experience could earn him a few looks on waivers, but it wouldn't be surprising if he went unclaimed.

Bills CB Justin Rogers will start at right cornerback in Week 1.

With Stephon Gilmore (wrist) sidelined, Rogers is set to start opposite Leodis McKelvin for the first six weeks. The Bills will use a rotation of undrafted rookie Nickell Robey and Ron Brooks as their slot corners.

Bills CB Justin Rogers will be rotated back in at nickel corner in Week 2.

Rogers suffered a preseason hamstring injury, and it lingered into Week 1. Leodis McKelvin won the job out of training camp, but after the Bills were torched by Mark Sanchez and the Jets last week, coach Chan Gailey is re-opening the competition. They will see a lot of the Chiefs' Dexter McCluster on Sunday.

The Bills' official depth chart lists Justin Rogers as the team's primary kick returner.

It's a surprise in that most expected Brad Smith to be listed in the initial release. Rogers averaged 28.7 yards per return over a small sample-size last season. In addition to special teams, he's competing with Leodis McKelvin for the Bills' starting nickel corner job.

The Bills' website expects second-year CB Justin Rogers to win the team's nickel corner job.

Rogers appeared in 12 games as a rookie and is expected to see significant playing time in sub-defenses, with Aaron Williams and Stephon Gilmore on the outside. Lead journalist Chris Brown notes that Rogers was "among the more impressive" players in OTAs, and has more slot experience than Leodis McKelvin, Terrence McGee, and fourth-round CB Ron Brooks.

Bills secondary coach George Catavolos has high hopes that seventh-round CB Justin Rogers will make an impact as a rookie.

"I think this guy might be the ... I don't want to say surprise of the draft," said Catavolos, "but I do think this young man has the make up intelligence-wise and physical skills that could be very beneficial for us this season." Rogers showed elite return ability and ball skills at small-school Richmond, but he has to get stronger at just 5'10" and 183 pounds.

Bills selected Richmond CB Justin Rogers with the No. 206 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.

Rogers was an impact return man in the Colonial Athletic Conference, breaking the league's all-time record for kick return yards and also earning first-team accolades as a punt returner. A dominant small schooler, Rogers racked up 12 career interceptions with three pick-sixes. He's obviously going to have to get stronger and bigger, but the 5-foot-10, 183-pounder has a chance. He ran a 4.5-flat at the Combine with a 4.20 short shuttle.
