Miller is going to have a hard time getting cleared on a short week. Veteran Moran Norris will likely be active against the Ravens on Thursday, with tight end Justin Peelle serving as insurance at lead blocker.

Miller, a seventh-round pick who played defensive end at UCF, could push Norris off the roster. New coach Jim Harbaugh favors multiple-tight end sets over fullbacks, so Miller figures to have his biggest impact on special teams.

An MRI has revealed nerve damage in rookie FB Bruce Miller's shoulder.

Miller has had fluid drained from the shoulder, and says the injury isn't serious. As a seventh-round pick trying to make the conversion from defensive end to fullback, however, any injury could jeopardize his chances of making the 49ers' 53-man roster.

49ers signed seventh-round FB Bruce Miller to a four-year contract.

Miller was the talk of "rookie camp" -- really player-organized activities -- this offseason while making the transition from college defensive end to pro fullback. Miller should stand a solid chance of making the final, 53-man roster because he's so versatile. He will also be asked to play special teams.

49ers seventh-round pick Bruce Miller could see time at outside linebacker in addition to fullback this season.

A two-time Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year at Central Florida, Miller is being converted from defensive end to fullback by the Niners, but they apparently think he can still be an asset on defense. He's about as good a bet to make the 49ers' 53-man roster as a seventh-round pick could be.

The 49ers drafted seventh-round DE Bruce Miller with the idea of converting him to fullback.

Miller professed to being "shocked" at the news, but believes he can make the transition because of his physical playing style. The 6'1/245 Miller thinks the 49ers were the only team that had him on the board as a lead-blocker. Jim Harbaugh had success at Stanford with linebacker/fullback Owen Marecic, who was drafted by Cleveland.

49ers selected Central Florida DE Bruce Miller with the No. 211 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.

At 6-foot-1, 254 pounds, Miller has good size to go along with solid athleticism. He also has a reputation as an intelligent, hard-worker. He's just not extraordinary in any one area, and if he's going to carve out a career for himself, he's going to have to rely on his toughness and determination.
