Rookie Eagles ILB Greg Lloyd has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain.

That should land the seventh-round pick on the shelf for at least a couple of weeks. It also severely diminishes his chances of making the roster, though the Eagles' lack of depth at inside linebacker could earn him a reprieve.

Eagles signed No. 237 overall pick ILB Greg Lloyd to a four-year contract.

The Eagles certainly need help at inside linebacker, where they are letting Stewart Bradley walk while relying on unproven Jamar Chaney. This seventh-round pick actually has a chance to stick on the final roster.

Eagles selected UConn LB Greg Lloyd with the No. 237 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.

Lloyd is an inside linebacker prospect, not to be confused with his edge-rushing father who terrorized the AFC North with the Steelers in the 1990s. A three-year starter for the Huskies, Lloyd was highly rated as a junior but struggled to regain form in 2010 after suffering a knee injury. He has the talent to stick as an early-down backup in Philly.
