Bengals waived RB Jay Finley.
Baylor doesn't miss Finley, evidenced by last night's upset of 14th-ranked TCU. A seventh-round pick in April's draft, Finley managed just 15 yards on seven preseason carries before missing a large chunk of camp with injuries. Sat, Sep 3, 2011 11:50:00 AM

Seventh-rounder Jay Finley "looks to be leading the practice squad derby" at running back.

No surprise here. Bernard Scott (hamstring) hasn't practiced since the first day of camp, but he's due back this week. Scott and Brian Leonard will likely take the two spots behind Cedric Benson, leaving Finley off the roster.

Bengals selected Baylor RB Jay Finley with the No. 246 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.

Elevated to a starting role as a senior, Finley exploded for 1,218 yards and 12 TDs on 195 carries for a healthy 6.3 YPC average. While Finley shows impressive patience and burst, he's not a tackle-breaker or homerun threat. Lacking size and speed, he projects as no more than an NFL backup.
