Bills waived G Michael Jasper.

Drafted as a defensive lineman in the seventh round last year, Jasper intrigued with uncommon athleticism for his 6-4, 374-pound frame, but spent only one week on the active roster after converting to guard. Still an interesting project, Jasper might get claimed on waivers and show up on a 2012 practice squad.

Bills OG Michael Jasper is in the best shape of his life at 375 pounds after a full offseason of conditioning work.

Jasper, who played at 440 pounds at Bethel University, didn't switch from nose tackle to guard until last September because the Bills didn't want other teams to snatch him up on waivers. Still a long-term project, the athletic Jasper acknowledges that blitz-pickup and adjusting in pass protection are his biggest hurdles to cracking the 53-man roster.

Bills signed OL Michael Jasper from their practice squad.

At 6'5" and 375-400 pounds, the athletic Jasper was considered an interesting developmental project as a seventh-round defensive tackle out of Bethel. The Bills have since moved him to the offensive line and may look to put a few snaps on tape in the season finale.

The Bills have moved practice squad rookie Michael Jasper from defensive tackle to the offensive line.

Jasper worked at right tackle in Monday's practice. The Bethel (TN) alum played offensive line for his small-school college, so the move shouldn't be unnatural. Athletic, Jasper ran a 5.53 forty at 394 pounds before the draft.

Bills signed seventh-round NT Mike Jasper to a four-year contract.

Jasper is considered an intriguing prospect as long as he keeps his weight under control. Currently listed at 6'4/380, Jasper weighed as much as 448 pounds back in January. "He's an exceptional athlete," said Bills GM Buddy Nix. "We would've signed him as a free agent so we just drafted him and we're going to see if he can play."

The Bills confirmed that seventh-rounder Michael Jasper, who is down to 378 pounds after tipping the scales at 448 in January, projects as a nose tackle in their 3-4 defense.

"This is an amazing kid, now," GM Buddy Nix said. "He vertical jumps 32 inches and he long jumps like 9-5 and he dunks a basketball with both hands. His body fat is not real high. He's an exceptional athlete." Of the intriguing developmental project, Bills scout Matt Hand added, "Scouts dream of something like this. We're really hoping this kid pans out for us."

Bills GM Buddy Nix says No. 245 overall pick Michael Jasper is down to 378 pounds after playing in the 400s at Bethel College last year.

He topped out at 448 pounds in college. Jasper ran a 5.38 forty at his Pro Day at 6'4/394, roughly equivalent to a 270-pound wideout running a 4.4. "He’s not as big as you’ve got him listed," said Nix. "He’s down to 378 so he’s drying up." Jasper has athleticism, and obviously has size. The book on him is that he's not a very good player. The Bills will try to change that.

Bills selected Bethel (TN) DT Michael Jasper with the No. 245 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.

An absolute behemoth at 6-foot-4 and 394 pounds, Jasper is a bit of an athletic marvel in that he ran 5.53 and 5.61 forty times at that weight during his Pro Day. Jasper played defensive tackle early in his college career, before missing the 2009 season for academic reasons, and then playing offensive line as a senior. The Bills announced him as a defensive lineman, so we suspect he'll be given a look at nose tackle.
