Curtis Holcomb - DB - Jaguars

Seventh-round CB Curtis Holcomb ruptured his left Achilles' tendon in the first practice of training camp Thursday.

It's a tough break for a developmental prospect with an iffy shot at a long-term NFL career. Holcomb will undergo surgery and miss the entire 2011 season.

49ers signed No. 250 overall pick CB Curtis Holcomb to a four-year contract.

Holcomb is a developmental prospect out of small school Florida A&M. He's likely ticketed for special teams duty as a rookie if he escapes the practice squad.

Curtis Holcomb - DB - Jaguars

49ers selected Florida A&M CB Curtis Holcomb with the No. 250 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.

Holcomb notched only 10 interceptions his final three seasons at Florida A&M, but that was likely just because MEAC quarterbacks knew to avoid him. He's a tad under-sized at 5-foot-10, 192 pounds, and ran a 4.47 40 this offseason. Special teams are in his future.
