The Lions have "high hopes" for interior linemen Bill Nagy and Rodney Austin.

Detroit has an opening at right guard and may open center to competition despite Dominic Raiola's restructuring. A third-year pro, ankle injuries have helped limit Nagy to just four career appearances. An undrafted free agent out of small-school Elon, Austin has never appeared in a game. The Lions will be on the lookout for interior linemen in the draft and free agency.

Lions G/C Bill Nagy (ankle surgery, I.R.) is out of his cast and participating in team meetings.

Nagy was stashed on injured reserve after undergoing surgery to repair a high-ankle sprain in late August. The Lions like his versatility on the interior. "He's a very interesting player," coach Jim Schwartz said. "I think that he has a future for sure with us."

Lions placed G/C Bill Nagy on injured reserve with an ankle injury, ending his season.

Nagy is recovering from surgery to repair a high left ankle sprain. He fractured the same ankle last October. Nagy is a versatile talent, but had trouble staying healthy even before his ankle woes. He'll compete for a roster spot next summer.

Lions claimed G/C Bill Nagy off waivers from the Cowboys.

It's a surprise that Nagy didn't clear waivers after undergoing surgery to repair a high left ankle sprain this week. It's the same ankle that was fractured last October, ending his season. The Lions could end up trying to sneak him onto their I.R. early next month.

Cowboys waived/injured G/C Bill Nagy.

Nagy will undergo surgery for a left high-ankle sprain sustained in the first practice of training camp. He fractured the same ankle last October. Nagy will revert to injured reserve once he clears waivers this week.

The Cowboys aren't expecting either G/C Bill Nagy (high-ankle sprain) or C Kevin Kowalski (undisclosed) to be ready for Week 1.

It means the Cowboys have precious little camp competition for shaky starter Phil Costa. For now, Costa will compete with David Arkin and undrafted free agent Harland Gunn, but executive VP Stephen Jones hasn't ruled out signing a veteran free agent. Center is a glaring weakness for Big D.

Cowboys C/G Bill Nagy is expected to miss 2-4 weeks with a left high-ankle sprain.

The injury is to the same ankle that Nagy broke last season, so the timetable could be extended. Nagy and Kevin Kowalski (PUP, ankle) were originally expected to push shaky center Phil Costa for playing time this summer.

Cowboys placed LG Bill Nagy (broken ankle) on injured reserve, ending his season.

It's not a major loss for Dallas' ground attack. The seventh-round rookie graded out as Pro Football Focus' worst run-blocking guard in the NFL through six weeks. The Cowboys like Nagy's versatility as a center/guard, so he'll likely be back next season even if he's not guaranteed to reclaim his starting job.

Cowboys LG Bill Nagy is done for the year with a broken right ankle.

Undrafted rookie Kevin Kowalski replaced him, which is a problem. Nagy was a seventh-round rookie. Perhaps the Cowboys will give old pal Leonard Davis a call this week. They have serious issues on the interior offensive line.

According to FOX Sports' John Czarnecki, Cowboys LG Bill Nagy (doubtful) has been ruled out for Week 2 with a neck injury.

A seventh-round rookie, Nagy drew the start in Week 1 against the Jets and graded out as ProFootballFocus' worst run-blocking guard. Derrick Dockery will enter the starting lineup in Nagy's place, and will likely hold down the job for the foreseeable future. He'll almost certainly be an upgrade over the overmatched rookie.

Seventh-round rookie Bill Nagy has won the Cowboys' left guard job.

Nagy was considered a top line prospect after his junior season, but lost his starting job as a senior after getting injured in a moped accident. While fourth-rounder David Arkin has a higher ceiling, the Cowboys believe Nagy is better prepared to play as a rookie due to his experience, intelligence, and ability to recover quickly when he makes a mistake.

Cowboys signed No. 252 overall pick C/G Bill Nagy to a four-year contract.

Nagy was a coaches' favorite jack-of-all-trades Wisconsin, seeing time along the offensive line in addition to tight end. A borderline NFL athlete, he figures to spend his rookie season on the practice squad.

Cowboys selected Wisconsin C/G Bill Nagy with the No. 252 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.

Versatility is his calling card. Wisconsin lined him up at tight end, guard, and center in one game last season. While he's not an NFL-caliber athlete, the Cowboys can use him as an eighth offensive lineman or a tight end in jumbo packages.
