Bills signed DT Cedric Thornton, formerly of the Cowboys.
Thornton tanked as a Cowboy last year, and was let go at final cuts last weekend. Headed into his age-29 season, Thornton had been an asset against the run before last season. He could stick on the 53-man roster. Tue, Sep 5, 2017 03:35:00 PM

Cowboys released DT Cedric Thornton.

Signed to a four-year deal last offseason, Thornton received $9 million for his one season in Dallas. He wasn't able to channel his success from Philly.

Cowboys DT Cedric Thornton underwent shoulder surgery this week.

Thornton missed the final three games of the regular season, but returned for the playoffs. He should be fine for the start of OTAs. A disappointment after signing a four-year, $18 million deal in free agency, Thornton only earned a rotational run-stuffer role his first year in Dallas, mainly coming off the bench.

Cowboys agreed to terms with DL Cedric Thornton, formerly of the Eagles, on a four-year, $18 million contract.

The deal includes $6 million fully guaranteed. A run-stopping extraordinaire, Thornton was a full-time starter each of the past three years for the Eagles. He was a defensive end in Philly's 3-4, but he should replace Nick Hayden as the one-technique in the Cowboys' 4-3. Thornton is a much-needed reinforcement for a Cowboys line that's been running dangerously low on bodies this offseason.

ESPN's Todd Archer reports free agent DL Cedric Thornton will visit the Cowboys.

Dallas does not have much money to throw around, but they have a significant need along the defensive front. Thornton would likely play defensive tackle in Dallas' 4-3 scheme. The Seahawks are reportedly interested as well.

NFL Network's Rand Getlin reports the Cowboys and Seahawks are interested in free agent DL Cedric Thornton.

Thornton played 3-4 end in Philadelphia but doesn't seem to be headed back there to play in DC Jim Schwartz's 4-3 scheme. Both the Cowboys and Seahawks play in a 4-3 where Thornton would probably play tackle on early downs and help stand up against the run. He'll be a potential bargain signing.

Eagles DC Bill Davis said LE Cedric Thornton will miss a couple weeks with a broken bone in his hand.

Thornton is an important run stuffer on the Eagles' line. Vinny Curry should see an expanded role while Thornton is sidelined.

Eagles re-signed LE Cedric Thornton to a one-year, $2.356 million contract.

It's Thornton's restricted free agent tender. There had been chatter that Thornton would be signed to a long-term deal, but that could be off the table for now. A two-down thumper, Thornton turns 27 in June.

The Eagles are expected to sign restricted free agent LE Cedric Thornton to a long-term deal.

Thornton has a second-round tender, but the Eagles want to extend him beyond 2015. A two-down run stopper, Thornton has graded as a top-20 end at Pro Football Focus the last two seasons. Thornton turns 27 in June.

Eagles extended a second-round tender to LE Cedric Thornton.

The second-round tender will pay $2.356 million. Thornton was stout against the run in 663 snaps with the Eagles last season, but once again struggled to get to the quarterback. He will return as a run-stuffing, two-down player.

Eagles LE Cedric Thornton took up boxing in the offseason in an effort to improve as a pass rusher.

Thornton started all 16 games last season and graded out as a top-nine 3-4 end at Pro Football Focus. He was top-three as a run stopper but dead last (45th) as a pass rusher. Thornton had just one sack and 17 hurries. He even started taking himself out of the game on third downs because his pass-rushing technique was so poor. Boxing will help Thornton's hands and feet get quicker.

Eagles re-signed exclusive rights free agent Cedric Thornton to a one-year contract.

It's just a formality. Thornton, a second-year undrafted free agent, broke out for 60 tackles, seven for a loss and two batted passes last season while playing the majority of snaps at left end. He's a cheap, quality, run-stuffing starter for an Eagles defense that started slow but came on strong late last season. Thornton will now be a restricted free agent in 2015.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports the Eagles are "high" on Cedric Thornton, and he's projected to start at defensive end this season.

Thornton is entering his third season after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Arkansas. He appeared in all 16 games in 2012, recording 27 tackles and a sack. Thornton will be competing for the five-technique spot with Vinny Curry and Bennie Logan. Fletcher Cox has the other defensive end position locked up, while Isaac Sopoaga will occupy nose tackle.

Eagles promoted DT Cedric Thornton from their practice squad.

An undrafted rookie from Southern Arkansas, Thornton was expected to be a middle-round pick but some medical concerns dropped him down draft boards. He should have the opportunity to play a few snaps during the last three games.
