Chiefs coach Andy Reid confirms DB Ron Parker will remain a safety first in 2015.
"Yeah, he’s a safety that can do both (safety and corner)," Reid said. "I’d say (we’ll) give him a shot (at safety), first." The majority of Parker's 1,037 snaps came at safety last season, but he also made four starts at cornerback. Parker figures to be the Chiefs' starting free safety opposite new SS Tyvon Branch. Chiefs re-signed S Ron Parker to a five-year, $25 million contract.

He got a $5 million signing bonus. A career journeyman, Parker's market was surprisingly robust following one up-and-down season as a starter. Parker will slot in as the starting free safety opposite the newly signed Tyvon Branch, and could help at corner in sub packages. Parker will be 28 in August.

Free agent DB Ron Parker will visit the Bears on Wednesday.

A journeyman during the early portion of his career, Parker has found a robust market following a breakout 2014 season. Parker's list of suitors includes the Giants, Dolphins, Jets, Falcons, Buccaneers and Chiefs, though the Bears have emerged as the clear front runner.

The Chicago Tribune reports the Bears and Falcons are "most involved" on free agent DB Ron Parker.

Both teams need free safety help, particularly the Bears. The Eagles were previously said to be in the hunt, but may not be seen as a favorite. Parker has apparently generated a shocking amount of interest for a player who's bounced around the league. The safety/corner turns 28 in August.
Mar 10 - 1:00 PM

The Eagles have joined the hunt for free agent DB Ron Parker, according to NJ.com's Eliot Shorr-Parks.

There's a lot to like about Parker. He's 27, versatile (he plays both corner and safety) and doesn't trigger any injury red flags (played all 32 games the past two regular seasons). Of course, that means teams are going to be falling all over themselves to try and sign him. Luckily for the Eagles, cap space isn't an issue. Clearly the secondary is a priority for Philadelphia after signing Byron Maxwell and nearly snatching Devin McCourty away from New England.

According to the Miami Herald, the Dolphins' interest in free agent DB Ron Parker is "quite real."

We keep seeing obvious agent-pushed tweets from reporters stating several teams have interest in Parker. This would seem to be the first team with a genuine intention of trying to him. Parker can play cornerback and safety and is an incredible athlete. He could start at right corner or free safety in Miami.

ESPN New York calls free agent S Ron Parker a "name to watch" for the Jets.

Parker has already been linked to the Jets, and is supposedly receiving interest from as many as seven teams.
Mar 8 - 3:23 PM

Free agent S Ron Parker has received interest from multiple teams.

As many as seven teams have been linked to Parker, including the Falcons, Jets, Bucs, and Giants. Kansas City also hasn't ruled out bringing him back. Parker is reportedly seeking $6 million annually, but is likely to fall short of his asking price.
Mar 7 - 9:08 PM

The Kansas City Star's Terez Paylor expects free agent S Ron Parker to test the market.

The Chiefs and Parker were reportedly working on a deal in late February, but it now appears Parker will test the market. He is a versatile defensive back that played 1,037 snaps between corner and free safety for the Chiefs last season, but Parker will not come close to his reported $6 million per year asking price. Parker is Rotoworld's No. 14 available safety.
Mar 7 - 11:09 AM

Free agent S Ron Parker's initial asking price is roughly $6 million per year.

Parker and his representatives have been in contact with the Chiefs and it sounds like the two sides are working on a deal. Of course, Kansas City's finances are tied directly to Justin Houston, who is in for a huge payday after leading the league in sacks in 2014. Once Houston is squared away, the rest of Kansas City's offseason dominoes will fall into place. Regardless, $6M/year for Parker -- our No. 13 free agent safety available -- isn't happening.
Feb 20 - 9:52 AM

Chiefs DB Ron Parker will start at safety against the Dolphins Week 3.

Parker opened the season at corner, but will switch back to safety with Eric Berry (ankle) set to miss Sunday's matchup with Miami. Parker played safety in college, and was used there at times during the offseason program. Berry is week-to-week with a sprained ankle.

FOX Sports Kansas City expects the Chiefs to start Ron Parker opposite Marcus Cooper this season.

Parker was Kansas City's starting left corner during OTAs, with Sean Smith demoted to the second team. Smith was recently arrested for DUI and is coming off a down year, grading out negatively in coverage by Pro Football Focus. At 6'0/206, Parker will likely be limited to outside corner in Bob Sutton's press-man scheme. Parker had two interceptions and a forced fumble despite playing under 100 snaps last season. The Chiefs' secondary is a 2014 concern.

Seahawks signed CBs Ron Parker and DeShawn Shead.

Parker was on the Panthers' practice squad, while Shead was on Seattle's. The moves were made after the announcement that starting CB Brandon Browner had dropped his appeal of his four-game suspension for violating the league's PED policy. Walter Thurmond III will start in Browner's place. With fellow starter Richard Sherman in danger of being suspended for Week 15, it's possible Parker and Shead could both eventually be in for snaps on defense. For now, they should be limited to special teams.

Panthers waived CB Ron Parker.

Signed off the practice squad just two days ago, Parker was active for Sunday's win, notching one tackle. He'll presumably be stashed back on the practice squad provided he clears waivers.

Panthers signed CB Ron Parker from their practice squad.

This is a depth move with Chris Gamble listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. The Panthers will likely turn to Josh Thomas in place of Gamble with Captain Munnerlyn remaining the nickel back. Thomas is in his second year and has played just five defensive snaps in his career.
