Bills signed CB T.J. Heath off their practice squad.

Heath has spent time at the bottom of the Jags, Bengals and Bills rosters since going undrafted out of Jacksonville State in 2011. He'll play on special teams and act as depth on the active roster with Aaron Williams (knee) still sidelined and Leodis McKelvin (back) in doubt.

Undrafted out of Jacksonville State, Heath made five special teams appearances for the Jaguars last season before landing on injured reserve. He was waived on Tuesday. He could be a candidate for the practice squad in Cincinnati.

An undrafted free agent out of small-school Jacksonville State, Heath spent five games on the Jaguars' active roster last season, but was held off the stat-sheet. Getting waived at this stage of the game suggests he won't be a candidate for the practice squad.

Jaguars placed CB T.J. Heath (shoulder) on injured reserve, ending his season.

The extent of Heath's injury was never revealed, but he confirmed Monday that he will require surgery. It doesn't appear to be of the reconstructive variety, however. Another small-school favorite of Jags GM Gene Smith, Heath was signed after going undrafted out of Jacksonville State. He made five appearances as a rookie, but failed to record a tackle on defense.
