Bears signed WR Terrence Toliver and QB Matt Blanchard to reserve/future contracts.

Toliver was once a high-profile recruit coming out of high school and then going on to LSU, but he underachieved in college and has yet to play in a regular season game in the NFL. Toliver, 24, spent last summer in Lions camp. Blanchard was a camp body with the Bears last year.

Lions waived WR Terrence Toliver, FB James Bryant, K Derek Dimke, RB Stephfon Green, OG Jacques McClendon, LB Slade Norris, OG J.C. Oram, and DT Bobby Skinner.

Toliver was a big name after once upon a time being rated the top wide receiver recruit in the country coming out of high school. He's proven to be a career underachiever, underwhelming at LSU and failing to catch on in the NFL.

Lions signed WR Terrence Toliver, WR Nate Hughes, WR Marcus Harris, CB Ross Weaver, TE Nathan Overbay, DE Ugo Chinasa, LB Slade Norris, C Dan Gerberry and C Jacques McClendon to reserve/future contracts.

An undrafted free agent out of LSU, Toliver spent most of the season on the Lions' practice squad after going through camp with the Texans. A top recruit coming out of high school, Toliver will be facing an uphill battle to earn a roster spot in 2012.

Texans signed former LSU WR Terrence Toliver.

They also inked former Oregon WR Jeff Maehl. Toliver was the No. 1 rated receiver recruit coming out of high school, but never lived up to expectations at LSU. Maehl was highly productive in college, but his 4.65 in the 40-yard dash killed his draft stock. Russ Lande of The Sporting News tweeted that both players "should make (the) team and have upside." That's extremely optimistic, of course, especially after the Texans just re-signed Jacoby Jones.
