49ers promoted WR Joe Hastings from the practice squad.

Hastings' promotion had been expected since Braylon Edwards was waived earlier in the week. An undersized rookie free agent, his snaps should be limited to special teams. His promotion is likely an indication that at least one of Ted Ginn (ankle) and Kyle Williams (concussion) will not be active against the Rams.

The 49ers are expected to promote WR Joe Hastings from their practice squad later in the week.

The Niners won't be replacing Braylon Edwards with Terrell Owens or Randy Moss. Instead, they'll turn to Hastings, a 6'0/185 undrafted free agent out of Washburn University.

Hastings' agent, David Canter, has been informed that the 49ers want him on their practice squad despite a catch-less preseason. Hastings went undrafted out of Washburn in April. He was on the 49ers' radar since pre-draft visits.
