Raiders claimed WR Andre Holmes off waivers from the Patriots.
Although Holmes has been cut twice since late November -- first by Dallas and most recently by New England -- he's 6-foot-4, 210 with 4.45 speed and the Raiders need all the talent they can get. He'll compete for a roster spot. May 14 - 9:49 AM

Patriots waived WR Andre Holmes.

Just a height-weight-speed project, 25-year-old Holmes has bounced around since going undrafted out of Hilldale. He has two catches in seven NFL games.

Cowboys waived WR Andre Holmes.

Holmes caught two passes for 11 yards in seven games this season. The second-year man out of Hillsdale was a preseason puff-piece, but it never translated to the games that count.

Cowboys declared WR Andre Holmes, CB Mike Jenkins, RB DeMarco Murray, OG David Arkin, G/C Ryan Cook, C Phil Costa, and DE Sean Lissemore inactive for Week 11 against the Browns.

No surprises here. Murray seems to be targeting a Week 12 return from the foot injury the Cowboys insist isn't a Lisfranc sprain. Felix Jones will start.

Cowboys WR Andre Holmes suffered a back injury in Monday's practice, and will undergo an MRI.

Even if it's minor, it's an ill-timed injury for a player in the thick of the race for Dallas' No. 3 receiver job. Holmes has come on in practice after a slow start, but has just five catches for 46 yards through two preseason games. Missing Saturday's game against the Rams would be a major blow to his chances of being named Dez Bryant and Miles Austin's top backup.

Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones said Andre Holmes "really stood out" in Monday's preseason opener, leading the team with three catches for 40 yards.

Jones also hinted that Holmes may have jumped to the head of the class among the candidates for third receiver role. Kevin Ogletree and Cole Beasley played with the starters in three-wide sets, but Holmes is coming on strong. The Cowboys will move Miles Austin to the slot when they go three-wide if Holmes wins the No. 3 job.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Cowboys WR Andre Holmes has "come on of late" after struggling early in camp.

ESPN Dallas reported last week Holmes was displaying a "serious case of skillet palms," but did allow the Cowboys were still intrigued by his skill-set. Per the Morning News' Brandon George, Dallas "(loves) his upside." The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Holmes could make a strong run at Dallas' No. 3 receiver job with a solid preseason.

According to ESPN Dallas, Cowboys WR Andre Holmes has displayed a "serious case of skillet palms" in camp.

Per reporter Tim MacMahon, the Cowboys are still high on Holmes, but that could change quickly if his stone hands carry over to the preseason. Holmes, Danny Coale, Dwayne Harris and Kevin Ogletree are competing for Dallas' No. 3 job, with Coale and Holmes the likely frontrunners.

Owner/GM Jerry Jones recently suggested that Andre Holmes has the inside track on the No. 3 wideout job.

Holmes went undrafted out of tiny Hillsdale last season and spent the year on the practice squad. He does have excellent size at 6'5/223. Holmes will be battling with Dwayne Harris and Kevin Ogletree for the job. ESPN Dallas says he would have been called up to the active roster late last season if not for a hamstring injury.

Cowboys WR Andre Holmes weighed in at 223 pounds during Organized Team Activities.

Holmes was listed at 208 last year but committed to ''getting stronger and bigger'' this offseason. With Danny Coale (foot) out until training camp, Holmes is competing with Dwayne Harris and Kevin Ogletree for the third receiver job. Harris spent time between the active roster and practice squad in 2011. Ogletree re-signed for the veteran minimum after being non-tendered.

The Cowboys are hoping that their third wide receiver is currently on the roster.

Kevin Ogletree is considered the favorite to replace Laurent Robinson due to his veteran status, but coach Jason Garrett admits he's far from entrenched. Dwayne Harris, Raymond Radway, and rookie Danny Coale are in the mix, and Andre Holmes is a name to watch if Dallas wants a vertical threat to team with Dez Bryant and Miles Austin. Regardless, don't expect much fantasy impact here.

Owner/GM Jerry Jones has expressed faith in WR Andre Holmes.

With Laurent Robinson moving on in free agency, the Cowboys have a hole to fill at No. 3 receiver. Holmes went undrafted out of tiny Hillsdale last season, but spent most of the year on the practice squad developing. Dwayne Harris will likely enter camp as the favorite for the gig.

Cowboys promoted WR Andre Holmes from their practice squad.

An undrafted rookie from little-known Hillsdale, Holmes went catchless in three preseason appearances this year. He'll be the No. 6 wideout behind Miles Austin, Dez Bryant, Laurent Robinson, Jesse Holley, and Kevin Ogletree.
