Long-time Steelers RB Jerome Bettis was not among the inductees into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday.
His 13,362 rushing yards are fifth all time, but in a class that also included much more versatile backs Marshall Faulk and Curtis Martin, he was facing an uphill battle for enshrinement today. Like WR Cris Carter, he'll probably have to toil for a while before (if) he gets his call to Canton. Sat, Feb 5, 2011 07:43:00 PM

Jerome Bettis admitted that his arrogance almost cost the Steelers a chance to make the Super Bowl.

He was referring to his demeanor before he fumbled in the divisional round game against the Colts. Bettis, in Torin to promote his hiring at NBC, said snowboarder Lindsey Jacobellis' hot-dogging that cost her a gold medal brought back "painful memories."

Jerome Bettis will join NBC's broadcast team as a studio analyst in 2006.

The storybook finish to his career will continue opening night in Pittsburgh as he receives his Super Bowl ring at his first game for NBC. Bettis reportedly was ready to retire after last season, but returned after only receiving broadcast offers from cable networks. Things worked out pretty well.

Jerome Bettis announced his retirement from pro football after Pittsburgh's Super Bowl victory.

Bettis ran 14 times for 43 yards in the game, but couldn't score on two chances inside the ten-yard line. His post-game speech on the winner's podium, using the third person while saying that, "The Bus' last stop is here in Detroit," officially replaces "This one's for John," as the greatest post-game speech ever. Bettis finishes fifth all-time in rushing yards and will be headed to Canton in five years.

Steelers' LB Larry Foote will make it a point to try to convince Jerome Bettis to return in 2006.

He said he'll tell him this: 'Big Ben's here, we're a young team, you have great friends here, so come on back,'" Foote said. "You're healthy. Willie (Parker) is going to carry the load, so you can come in and score a couple touchdowns per game. I'd tell him he doesn't have to play in road games; he could come back and just play at home like Roger Clemens."

Jerome Bettis rushed 15 times for 39 yards and a touchdown in the AFC Championship.

After Willie Parker fumbled in the second half, Bettis got a lot of the work in the second half. Bettis' first career Super Bowl will likely be his final game. Expect a whole lot of Bettis features the next two weeks.

Jerome Bettis rushed 17 times for 46 yards and a touchdown Sunday, but lost a late fumble inside the five-yard line that almost cost the Steelers the game.

Leading by three points with only 1:20 remaining in the game, Bettis coughed up the ball as the team was attempting to salt away the game. Bettis avoided ending his career after his worst moment when Ben Roethlisberger tackled fumble returner Nick Harper and Mike Vanderjagt pushed a 46-yard field goal wide. Instead of being the goat, Bettis is the best story of the AFC Championship.

The Steelers have won eight straight opening playoff games under Bill Cowher, but have lost their second playoff game seven straight times.

Unless the Steelers break that streak in Indianapolis, Jerome Bettis' career will likely be over this weekend.

Jerome Bettis (hamstring) is probable for this Sunday's game against the Colts.

Bettis was awesome last week against the Bengals, rushing for 52 yards and a touchdown. He's scored eight TDs in the past six games, and will split time with Willie Parker again.

Jerome Bettis rushed ten times for 52 yards and a touchdown in a Wild Card victory.

Bettis saved one of his best playoff outings for his last season. He converted a few crucial third-and-one situations early in the game, then helped Pittsburgh run the clock out in the second half. He may not be as big a factor against the Colts next week.

Jerome Bettis rushed ten times for 41 yards and three touchdowns in week 17.

In what was probably his final game in Pittsburgh, the Bus rolled to three typical short-yardage touchdowns. His regular season career is likely over with 94 touchdowns and 13,362 rushing yards, Hall of Fame numbers. Bettis may add a few playoff touchdowns to his career numbers before the Steelers are through.

Willie Parker asked coach Bill Cowler to start Jerome Bettis in the Steelers backfield in what could be the Bus' final home game.

Pittsburgh is expected to keep the same game plan and use both backs in a thunder and lightening role for the finale against the Lions.

Sunday's game could be RB Jerome Bettis' final home game in Pittsburgh.

"I'm a realist in a sense that I do understand there is a good chance it is my last game," Bettis said. "I look at it like it'll last forever. But I know it has to come to an end. If this is it, then I want to enjoy it."

Jerome Bettis rushed seven times for 24 yards and a touchdown in week 16.

After scoring just two touchdwons in the Steelers first 10 games, the Bus has four scores in the past four games now. He'll likely remain in the same role behind Willie Parker for the finale against Detroit.
Sat, Dec 24, 2005 04:21:00 PM

Jerome Bettis rushed nine times for 16 yards in week 15.

Bettis had multiple chances near the goal line and couldn't score. He's a far better mudder than artificial turfer. Willie Parker had 14 rushes. Don't use him against the Browns next week.
