Cardinals re-signed ILB Josh Bynes to a three-year contract.
Bynes played 234 snaps for the Cardinals last season, receiving strong marks from Pro Football Focus for his run defense. It's possible Bynes mans the strong side for coach Steve Wilks, but he's not a three-down player. Mar 14 - 4:04 PM

Lions re-signed OLB Josh Bynes.

Bynes was an 11-game starter for the Lions last season who was placed on injured reserve before Week 1. He'll provide depth on the outside after Kyle Van Noy was traded to New England. Bynes will probably be cut loose once DeAndre Levy or Jon Bostic returns.

Lions released LB Josh Bynes from injured reserve.

Bynes started 11 games last year, but was slated for a backup role before going down. He could eventually re-sign with Lions, but isn't eligible to for three weeks.

Josh Bynes is expected be the Lions' weak-side linebacker with DeAndre Levy (hip, doubtful) sidelined.

Bynes is solid as a run defender, but he is not as adept in coverage as Levy. If Ladarius Green (concussion) suits up, he should be able to exploit Bynes in the passing game. Levy missing is also a slight upgrade to Keenan Allen and Stevie Johnson.

Lions re-signed LB Josh Bynes.

Bynes, who wasn't tendered as a restricted free agent, has some run-stuffing appeal as an inside linebacker. He's a Teryl Austin favorite.

The Lions won't tender restricted free agent LB Josh Bynes but still hope to retain him.

Detroit could have tendered Bynes for $1.323 million, which would have allowed them to match any team's offer. Instead, they'll roll the dice and try to bring Bynes back at the league minimum. It makes sense as the Lions will need every penny if they want to keep Ndamukong Suh. Suh has expressed a desire to stay in Motown, but he's not willing to take a hometown discount.

Bynes appeared in 15 games last season for Baltimore, making six starts and grading out as a top-15 inside linebacker at Pro Football Focus. He's a run stopper at 6'1/240. Lions DC Teryl Austin was with Bynes in Baltimore last season. Detroit needs the help after losing MLB Stephen Tulloch to a torn ACL.

Ravens waived ILB Josh Bynes.

Bynes appeared in 15 games last season, making six starts. He graded out as a top-15 inside linebacker at Pro Football Focus, and excelled against the run. The Ravens since drafted ILB C.J. Mosley and will continue to develop second-year ILB Arthur Brown. Bynes should find a role as an early-down thumper.

Bynes is dealing with an infection and is on antibiotics. He's week-to-week. Bynes has graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 9 inside linebacker after six weeks. The Carroll County Times calls Ravens LB Josh Bynes the "clear leader in the competition" to start opposite Daryl Smith at inside linebacker.

It was widely assumed second-rounder Arthur Brown would earn the job, but he hasn't run with it. "(Bynes has) earned it," coach John Harbaugh said. "He’s practiced really well. He’s physical. He understands our defense inside and out. He’s done a heck of a job." A 2011 undrafted free agent, Bynes started three games last season. Holding off Brown for the entire season would be a tall task.
