Ravens released OG Bobbie Williams.
Per the Baltimore Sun, the Ravens are now $12.263 million under the salary cap. Williams, 37 in September, signed a two-year deal with the Ravens last offseason, and went on to start six games at left guard before losing his starting job to Jah Reid and then Kelechi Osemele. The move saves the Ravens $800,000 against the cap. This could be the end of the line for Williams' NFL career. Fri, Mar 8, 2013 04:38:00 PM

Ravens LG Bobbie Williams will not retire following the Super Bowl.

Williams dealt with nagging ankle woes this season, started just six games and will turn 37 in September. But the 12-year veteran is under contract for an affordable $1.2 million in 2013, giving him a chance to return.

Ravens LG Bobbie Williams (ankle) in not expected to play in Sunday's game against the Steelers.

Williams is officially "probable," but was only able to practice on a limited basis this week. According to the Baltimore Sun, Jah Reid will either start at left guard or take the majority of snaps.

The Ravens have installed Bobbie Williams as their starting left guard.

The Ravens wanted Williams to start from the get-go after they signed him in early June, but he experienced knee swelling and was limited to special teams in the first five games. On Sunday against the Cowboys, Williams will replace Ramon Harewood between left tackle Michael Oher and center Matt Birk.

Bobbie Williams was immediately installed with the Ravens' first-team offense at left guard after he signed on June 8.

Reliable beat writer Aaron Wilson says "it will be a surprise" if Williams doesn't claim the job, ahead of Kelechi Osemele and Jah Reid. Williams is going on 36, but he fits the Ravens' scheme as a mauling run blocker and was still playing at a high level in 2011. Baltimore's offensive line looks underrated, to us.

The Baltimore Sun's Mike Preston says the Ravens' left guard spot is Bobbie Williams' to lose.

The biggest question with Williams is health. If his ankle can hold up at age 35, he's a good bet to hold off rookie Kelechi Osemele and second-year man Jah Reid. Williams wasn't a liability in nine starts for the Bengals last season.

Ravens agreed to terms with OG Bobbie Williams on a two-year contract.

The 35-year-old longtime Bengal was coming off ankle surgery. The Ravens are clearly satisfied with his health. Williams started nine games for Cincinnati last season, grading out positively as both a run blocker and pass protector, according to Pro Football Focus. Though Baltimore's question mark position is left guard, Williams has been primarily a right guard in his career. He could still end up pushing rookie Kelechi Osemele for the LG starting job.

Free agent OG Bobbie Williams estimates that he's 85 percent recovered from December ankle surgery.

Williams went through drills at Paul Brown Stadium Monday under the direction of the Bengals medical staff, but there's no indication that he will be re-signed. Soon to be 36 years old, Williams has no plans to retire this summer.

Bengals placed RG Bobbie Williams on injured reserve with a broken ankle, ending his season.

A broken ankle wouldn't typically be a long-term concern, but it's far from ideal for a player who will be 36 in 2012. Still an above-average run blocker, Williams' loss is bad news for Cedric Benson, especially since Williams will be replaced in the starting lineup by journeyman Mike McGlynn. Before serving a four-game suspension for violating the league's policy against performance enhancing substances to begin the season, Williams hadn't missed a start since 2006. A free agent at season's end, it's possible his long tenure in Cincinnati is at an end.

Bengals.com reports that RG Bobbie Williams is feared to be lost for the season after suffering a significant ankle injury in Sunday's loss.

"Coach is going to get an update," said Williams, who left the stadium on crutches and in a walking boot. Williams is arguably the Bengals' best run blocker, so this would a blow to the team's rushing offense. Mike McGlynn, a journeyman and former Philadelphia Eagle, replaced Williams against the Texans Sunday.

Bengals RG Bobbie Williams limped off the field with a leg injury in the second quarter of Week 14.

Williams was able to angrily limp off the field after his injury caused a television timeout. Mike McGlynn has come on to replace him, giving Cincinnati backups at both spots on the right side of the O-Line.

Bengals RG Bobbie Williams shed 12 pounds while working out during his four-game suspension.

He should return in pretty good shape. The Bengals have had no continuity at right guard in Williams' absence, so his return figures to provide a boost to an offensive line that has held its own in run blocking despite missing perhaps its best run blocker. Pro Football Focus has rated the Cincinnati line as a top-14 unit in run blocking and top-11 in pass protection.

The Bengals have been granted a one-week roster exemption for suspended RG Bobbie Williams as they evaluate whether to activate him.

Williams missed the first month for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancers. In the meantime, the Bengals have played musical chairs with rookie Clint Boling and Mike McGlynn both seeing action at right guard. Williams is a powerful run blocker and should be the starter if he's in shape.

NFL suspended Bengals RG Bobbie Williams four games for violating the league's policy against performance enhancing substances.

Entering his age-35 season, Williams hasn't missed a start since 2006. His suspension will likely force 2010 fifth-round pick Otis Hudson into the starting lineup. Perhaps the last thing the Bengals' dysfunctional offense needed eight days before the start of the season was line issues.

Bengals re-signed RG Bobbie Williams to a two-year contract worth just under $3 million per season.

The signing is a good one for the Bengals, as Williams still has plenty left in the tank despite entering his age-34 season. He's also been exceptionally durable, missing just three games over the last six years.
