Cowboys K Dan Bailey (back) is not practicing Thursday.

Bailey's back tightened up before last week's game. The Cowboys will work out both Robbie Gould and Kai Forbath, suggesting Bailey sitting out is a real possibility.

Cowboys K Dan Bailey is dealing with a back injury.

Jerry Jones said Bailey had some tightness in his back before the game in San Francisco, which could explain an uncharacteristic miss from 47 yards. Coach Jason Garrett said the team could look to bring in a backup option this week.

Dan Bailey has set a franchise record for consecutive field goals made with 28.

Fantasy owners aren't going to find many better options than Bailey on a week-to-week basis. He plays for an explosive offense in a kicker-friendly stadium and has gone 7-of-8 on field goals from 50+ over the last two seasons. Fire Bailey up for a potential shootout with the Saints in Week 4.

Dan Bailey is 3-of-3 on field goals of 50+ yards this preseason.

Bailey has developed into one of the league's premier long-ball kickers, as he went 6-of-7 from 50+ last season. With ideal home kicking conditions and an explosive offense, he's an excellent weekly option for fantasy owners -- especially those that get bonus points for length.

Cowboys K Dan Bailey's six-year extension is worth $22.5 million, with $7.5 million guaranteed.

Only in Jerry's World. More cap strapped than any team in football, the Cowboys will likely have to convert salaries into prorated "signing" bonuses elsewhere on the roster to fit Bailey's head-scratching new deal into their already in-the-red finances. Bailey gets a $4.5 million signing bonus and $3.4 million per year in new money. We don't have any problem with Bailey -- he's 26 and one of the top placekickers in the game -- but the Cowboys' contractual dealings are annually the most preposterous in football. Maybe they'll bulk up Bailey and get him to double at defensive tackle. Dallas is currently nearly $22 million over the cap.

Cowboys signed K Dan Bailey to a seven-year contract.

He was a restricted free agent. The deal locks Bailey up through 2020, and is worth "a little more" than $3 million per season. It's quite a commitment for a kicker, but owner Jerry Jones always lavishes his resources on in-house assets. Bailey has converted 89-of-98 (90.8 percent) career field-goal attempts, and is 11-of-16 on kicks of 50-plus yards. He's a reliable weapon for an inconsistent team.

The Cowboys are in serious negotiations on a long-term extension with restricted free agent K Dan Bailey.

The Cowboys wisely scooped up Bailey, the 2010 Lou Groza award winner, as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma State three years ago. He's proceeded to go 89-of-98 (90.8 percent) on field goals, including 11-of-16 from 50-plus.

Cowboys K Dan Bailey said he focused on adding leg strength this spring.

During his two-year career, Bailey is 56-of-59 on field goals from 49 yards away or closer. On 50-plus-yard kicks, he's just 5-of-9. With a mild improvement on those bombs, Bailey will be a strong kicking option for fantasy owners.

Dan Bailey has only missed one field goal during team drills at Cowboys camp so far.

Bailey is picking up right where he left off after going 32-of-37 on field goals as a rookie last season. Dallas' potentially explosive offense and the kicker-friendly confines of Cowboys Stadium make him a fine fantasy kicking option.

Dan Bailey will not face serious competition for the placekicking job at training camp.

David Buehler was let go in March. Bailey was wildly impressive as a rookie in 2011, connecting on 32-of-37 field-goal attempts. He's a fine fantasy option once again this season as part of the Cowboys' potentially explosive offense.

Dan Bailey has set a franchise record for consecutive field goals made.

After going 3-for-3 yesterday, Bailey has nailed 19 straight field goals. "Don't mess with him," said special teams coach Joe DeCamillis. "Don't coach him. Leave him alone." Bailey's 20 field goals made on the season tie him for the league lead with Billy Cundiff.

David Buehler admitted that he's unlikely to challenge Dan Bailey for the Cowboys' placekicking job.

Buehler is nearly set to return from his groin injury, but his role will just be as a kickoff specialist if active. Bailey is 15-of-16 on field goals this season, including 6-of-6 from 40-plus yards out.

Dan Bailey is in position to open the season as the Cowboys' field-goal kicker.

Bailey is an undrafted rookie out of Oklahoma State that won the Lou Groza award as the country's best collegiate kicker last season. While the Cowboys figure to comb the waiver wire for a veteran option this week, Bailey has a real chance to stick. David Buehler will handle kickoffs.
Mon, Sep 5, 2011 08:54:00 AM

Coach Jason Garrett has downplayed the idea of keeping two kickers this season.

Undrafted rookie Dan Bailey has predictably out-kicked strong-legged incumbent David Buehler early in camp, leading owner Jerry Jones to suggest both could be kept. More likely, the winner of the competition will handle field goals as well as kickoffs.
