Ex-Bengals LB Dhani Jones announced his NFL retirement Tuesday.
The 10-year veteran drew scant interest following the lockout despite leading the Bengals in tackles a year ago. A 131-game starter for the Giants, Eagles, and Bengals, Jones finishes his career with 616 tackles. Although he'll likely continue his adventures on the Travel Channel, Jones may find his way into the NFL analysis business in the long run. He's a natural on television. The Browns could be a fit for free agent LB Dhani Jones, suggests the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The Browns are thin at linebacker, with only the inexperienced Kaluka Maiava and Titus Brown as realistic reserves. Jones, 33, would bring 10 years of experience and tales of world travel to the table.

Free agent LB Dhani Jones has no plans to retire this offseason.

"I would like to play as long as I’m afforded the opportunity," he said. Jones has missed just three games during his 10-year NFL career and is coming off a season in which he led the Bengals in tackles. Cincinnati has moved on from the 33-year-old, however, replacing him with Rey Maualuga in the middle.

Free agent LB Dhani Jones' first choice is to re-sign with the Bengals this offseason.

"They've taken incredible care of me," said Jones. "They've provided me with a tremendous amount of opportunity, and I've only seen growth." The Bengals were expected to let the 33-year-old walk before the lockout. With no offseason programs to ease Rey Maualuga into the middle, though, Jones could be brought back on a short-term deal.

Free agent LB Dhani Jones is one of more than 1,000 candidates attempting to replace Gilbert Gottfried as the voice of the duck on Aflac insurance commercials.

Gottfried was axed for his crass jokes about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. "There's a lockout going on," Jones says on his Youtube audition. "I need a job." Jones has television experience hosting Dhani Tackles the Globe on the Travel Channel. He has stiff competition, however, in the form of song parody master Weird Al Yankovic.

Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer predicts that Dhani Jones will hold off Rey Maualuga to be the Bengals' Week 1 starting middle linebacker.

Maualuga will be in the starting lineup in some capacity, but Reedy expects it'll be on the strong side. Michael Johnson would then work as a situational pass rusher. Jones' play-calling ability and leadership skills are valued by the coaching staff, but Maualuga is going to replace him inside in due time.

The Bengals "seem set" on keeping Dhani Jones in the starting lineup at middle linebacker, according to the team's website.

The plan is to let rookie Rey Maualuga battle Rashad Jeanty at strong-side linebacker. Jones would remain a three-down player with Maualuga likely exiting in passing situations if he beats out Jeanty. WLB Keith Rivers is the best IDP to target here, but Jones will come cheaper in fantasy drafts.

Bengals MLB Dhani Jones (foot) was limited in practice all week, but is listed as probable and will start against the Cowboys.

Jones is currently the league's tackle leader with 41, although only 24 have been of the solo variety. He has no sacks and two pass breakups.

The Bengals' revised defense will use interior tackles to control gaps and shield the linebackers, opening them up to make hits on ball carriers.

Rookie nose Pat Sims is key to this scheme alongside Domata Peko. If the plan is executed correctly, the Bengals' linebackers stand to benefit with big numbers. MLB Dhani Jones could be a 120-tackle player if it works right.

Following Odell Thurman's release, the Bengals have moved Dhani Jones to middle linebacker. Jones is expected to wear the defensive helmet communicator, meaning he'll be a three-down player.

Ahmad Brooks is staying at SAM for now. Jones, who finished second on the Bengals in tackles last year, has played outside most of his career. Still, he becomes a big IDP sleeper at the MIKE. Corey Mays could emerge as his main backup.

Bengals re-signed LB Dhani Jones to a three-year contract.

Jones wears a bow tie and was a whipping boy in Philadelphia, but can play all the linebacker positions and posted a 90-tackle season in '07 after signing off the street. He'll likely be an ILB if the Bengals move to a 3-4.

Saints terminated the contract of LB Dhani Jones.

Jones started 16 games in 2006 with the Eagles. That he couldn't make the Saints shows how poor the Birds' situation on the strong side really was.

Saints signed LB Dhani Jones to a one-year contract.

Jones was in the NFL Network studio to announce the signing himself on Thursday. Cut by the Eagles in late April, Jones didn't get much action on the free agent market. The outside linebacker isn't a lock to make the team.

Eagles released LB Dhani Jones.

Jones and his Air Guitar never lived up to expectations after signing a $12.5 million contract in 2004. He'll be replaced by a combination of Chris Gocong and Stewart Bradley at strong-side linebacker. Releasing the 29-year-old Jones saved Philly $1.5 million in salary cap room.
