Trattou sustained a heel/ankle injury during the first week of camp and never recovered. With others on the Giants defensive line sustaining injuries as well, there was no room left on the roster.

Giants DE Justin Trattou will be sidelined a "few more weeks" with a heel injury.

Trattou didn't play in Friday's preseason opener. The injury is going to make it very difficult for him to crack the 53-man roster. Trattou appeared in six games a season ago, making one tackle.

Giants promoted DE Justin Trattou from the practice squad.

An undrafted free agent out of Florida, Trattou appeared in New York's Week 1 loss to the Redskins before being waived. He'll provide depth along a fairly banged up Giants' defensive line.

Trattou goes to make room for Brandon Stokley. It's a sign that Justin Tuck (neck) should be able to play Monday night. Trattou will head back to the Giants' practice squad if he clears waivers.

He's taking MLB Jonathon Goff's place on the roster, who has been officially placed on injured reserve with a torn ACL. Trattou could be active against the Redskins on Sunday if Justin Tuck (neck) can't give it a go.
