Buccaneers claimed K Kai Forbath off waivers from the Cowboys.

The Lions also placed a claim on Forbath. The 2009 Groza Award winner will likely spend the offseason and training camp as an extra leg while the Bucs wait for franchise player Connor Barth to sign his tender.

Cowboys waived K Kai Forbath.

Followed by the release of David Buehler, the moves leave Dallas with only Dan Bailey on the roster at placekicker. Undrafted out of UCLA, Forbath spent all of last season on the non-football injury list with a torn quadriceps muscle.

Kai Forbath - K - Redskins

Cowboys K Kai Forbath (NFI, quad) has been cleared to resume practicing.

Forbath has been on the NFI list since early August. Dan Bailey has broken the franchise record with 19 consecutive field goal conversions, so there will be no room for Forbath on the 53-man roster.

Cowboys signed K Kai Forbath.

Incumbent David Buehler is now joined on the roster by the 2009 Groza Award winner (Forbath) as well as the 2010 Groza Award winner (Dan Bailey). Considered more of a roster stash, Forbath will start out on the non-football injury list due to a quad strain in his kicking leg.

It's a cruel reminder of how limited RGIII was even before his knee finally gave out on FedEx Field's embarrassing turf. As reported Thursday, Griffin expects to start "explosive sprinting" in just a matter of weeks. It's not fair to compare RGIII's recovery to Adrian Peterson's, but thus far it's mirroring it. May 24

	3	Roy Helu Sidelined Redskins RB Roy Helu (Achilles', toe) is sitting out OTAs. He's doing rehab work on the side. Helu is in danger of losing his roster spot just two years after being a fourth-round pick. As a rookie, he rushed for 100-plus yards in three consecutive games late in the season. Ever since, Helu has been unable to say healthy, and Alfred Morris has seized the starting job. May 24
	4	Chris Thompson Sidelined Redskins agreed to terms with No. 154 overall pick RB Chris Thompson on a four-year contract. Recovering from an October ACL tear, Thompson is questionable for the beginning of training camp. Thompson is a thimble of a football player at 5-foot-7, 192 pounds, but coach Mike Shanahan believes he would have been a first- or second-round pick if not for his injury. That's because of his electric speed. Thompson could eventually make noise as a scat/third-down back, but will most likely be "redshirted" this season. May 15

Like Robert Griffin III (knee), Davis was not in uniform and worked off to the side. It's still encouraging to see him pivoting and moving well seven months after blowing out his heel. Beat writer Chris Russell said Davis "looks better than I thought." The pass-catching tight end says he's at 90 percent now and expects to be 100 percent by June's minicamps. May 23

	3	Jordan Reed Sidelined Redskins signed No. 85 overall pick TE Jordan Reed to a four-year contract. Undersized at 6-foot-2, 236 pounds, Reed is a blocking-deficient pass catcher. That's why his 4.72 40-yard dash underwhelmed at the Combine. Alas, Reed adds a real receiving threat to a team with in-flux receiver and tight end corps, and has drawn looses comparisons to Aaron Hernandez. If Reed shows well as a rookie, the Redskins could decide to let Fred Davis walk next offseason. May 24
