ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss believes third-year RE Chandler Jones is poised for a breakout.
Jones posted a solid 11.5 sacks last season, but Reiss believes the addition of Darrelle Revis to the Patriots' secondary could allow Jones to reach the 15-plus sack plateau this year. Only three pass rushers reached those heights in 2013. Jones should be one of the first defensive linemen off the board in IDP drafts. Jul 3 - 1:50 PM

The Boston Herald expects Patriots RE Chandler Jones to "bust out" in 2014.

You could say Jones already "busted out" last season when he racked up 11.5 sacks as a sophomore after posting six sacks in 2012. The former No. 21 overall pick played 98 percent of the defensive snaps. With the additions of Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner to an already talented corner group, it should give Jones and LE Rob Ninkovich even more time to get after the quarterback. Jones will also likely have WLB Jamie Collins rushing the passer from his side.

Updating a previous item, Patriots RE Chandler Jones does not need offseason ankle surgery.

Jones battled both left and right ankle injuries for the second half of the season and into the playoffs. After storming out of the gates to pick up six sacks and three forced fumbles in the first eight games of the season, Jones' production fell off and he was shut out in those categories for the rest of the way. He may rest through OTAs, but Jones will be good to go for training camp.

Patriots RE Chandler Jones may need offseason ankle surgery.

The rookie defensive end played just two snaps in Sunday's playoff loss to the Ravens after suffering the initial injury in the Divisional Round versus the Texans. Jones battled a right ankle injury for much of the season, but his most recent one is to his left ankle. The first-round pick recorded six sacks in 2012, but just one came after Week 6.

The ankle injury that knocked Patriots RE Chandler Jones out of Sunday's game did not require a walking boot.

Jones was limping out of the locker room, but it's a good sign that the medical staff didn't deem the injury serious enough to warrant a boot. The Patriots' next practice report will come out on Wednesday.

Patriots RE Chandler Jones left Sunday's Divisional round game versus the Texans with an ankle injury.

Jones was seen conferring with the medical staff just before halftime. He remained on the sidelines in the third quarter, with Justin Francis taking his place. Consider the rookie pass rusher questionable to return.

Patriots RE Chandler Jones (ankle), LG Logan Mankins (ankle), and MLB Brandon Spikes (knee) are all active for Week 14 on Monday night versus the Texans.

In true Patriot form, all three players were listed as questionable. Jones is returning after missing two games with the ankle issue. Mankins and Spikes were the only two that were truly in question. New England declared OLs Markus Zusevics and Nick McDonald, TE Rob Gronkowski, DLs Ron Brace and Jake Bequette, DB Derrick Martin, and RB James Develin inactive. Gronk is likely still two weeks away from returning.

Patriots RE Chandler Jones (ankle) says he's "ready to play against the Texans" this week on Monday Night Football.

Jones has missed the last two games with the ankle injury, but he participated in all four practice sessions this week leading up to the biggest game of the NFL season to date. Jones should return to the starting lineup and will see a lot of Texans LT Duane Brown. Trevor Scott will return to a rotational back-up role.

Patriots RE Chandler Jones (ankle) and LG Logan Mankins (ankle) both practiced in shells on Thursday.

Both players have missed multiple games with the injuries. According to the Boston Herald, there is now "a feeling that each player could return" for Monday night's mammoth AFC tilt with the Texans. The game has major repercussions for the two bye-week seeds in the playoffs.

Patriots RE Chandler Jones (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 13 against the Dolphins.

New England has been forced to "scheme" pressure without its top pass rusher Jones, leaving the team a bit more vulnerable in the back end. Unfortunately, the Dolphins lack an explosive passing game capable of taking advantage. The Patriots will also be without LG Logan Mankins (ankle) against Miami.

Patriots RE Chandler Jones (ankle) has been ruled out for Thursday night's game against the Jets.

Jones was injured early on in Sunday's rout over the Colts. The first-round pick has generated six sacks and three forced fumbles as a rookie and ranks as Pro Football Focus' No. 10 4-3 defensive end in all of football. Trevor Scott will likely draw the start in Jones' place.

Chalk one up for the NFL Network crew of Mike Mayock and Michael Lombardi, both of whom anointed Jones the best defensive player leading up to this year's draft. The Pats coaching staff credits Jones with 19 total tackles (7 solo), three sacks, five quarterback hits and two forced fumbles through four games. Pro Football Focus ranks Jones fifth among 4-3 ends.

Patriots first-round RE Chandler Jones played on 58-of-65 snaps in Sunday's opener.

Jones had three tackles, one sack and one forced fumble that resulted in a touchdown for fellow rookie Dont'a Hightower. He's on the IDP radar as an every-down, playmaking lineman. Jones will have plenty of chances to pin his ears back as the Patriots figure to be protecting a lead often this season.

According to ESPN Boston, No. 21 pick Chandler Jones "looks like a permanent fixture" at right end in the Patriots' defense.

Jones dominated in the preseason opener and has been lighting up practices. Per beat writer Mike Reiss, Jones has also "made an impression on his teammates off the field as a humble rookie who is willing to carry veterans' shoulder pads." Jones is firmly on the IDP radar as a rookie pass rusher on a team that generates lots of pass-rushing opportunities with a high-scoring offense.
