CSN New England suggests the Patriots could look to extend RE Chandler Jones' contract this offseason.
Jones is owed $7.8 million in the last year of his rookie contract, and New England can lower his cap number for next season by signing him to a long-term deal. Jones has had a comparable career to Saints DE Cameron Jordan, who landed a five-year, $55 million extension last offseason. Jones turns 26 later this month. He piled up 12.5 sacks and four forced fumbles in 15 games in 2015. Jan 31 - 8:21 AM

Patriots RE Chandler Jones (abdomen, toe) is listed as questionable for Sunday's AFC Championship game against the Broncos.

Jones exited New England's win over Kansas City in the fourth quarter but returned to practice on Wednesday. Jones, Jamie Collins (back) and Dont'a Hightower (knee) are all banged up but should be ready for Brady/Manning XVII on Sunday.
Jan 22 - 3:22 PM

Patriots RE Chandler Jones played 36-of-89 defensive snaps in Saturday's Divisional Round win over the Chiefs.

That's about 40 percent. There was some concern Jones would be benched after an embarrassing incident involving synthetic marijuana last week but that didn't come into play on Saturday. Jones started and played well, recording the game's only sack and forcing a Knile Davis fumble in the third quarter. Jones appeared to suffer a right leg injury late in the fourth quarter. Obviously his status will need to be monitored ahead of next week's AFC championship.
Jan 17 - 8:36 AM

Patriots RE Chandler Jones is expected to start against the Chiefs.

The Patriots reportedly like how Jones responded in practice this week. There was speculation Jones could be benched for his off-field situation, but it looks like he'll play his normal role. Jones shouldn’t struggle to make an impact against Chiefs LT Eric Fisher.

Patriots RE Chandler Jones (abdomen, toe) is listed as questionable for Saturday's Divisional Round game against the Chiefs.

Jones was limited all week, putting him on track to play. His off-field issues are a bigger concern for his playing time. Barring an in-game punishment, Jones should see close to his normal snaps.
Jan 15 - 4:45 PM

The Foxboro Police Department has released new details about its Sunday morning interaction with Patriots RE Chandler Jones.

In short, Jones seemed to be out of his mind, but not violent. He could have still easily ended up arrested after literally prostrating himself on the police department's steps, but was hospitalized instead. As of this moment, his Divisional Round status/usage does not appear to be in doubt. In-game punishment can't be ruled out, however. Coach Bill Belichick benched Wes Welker for the first series of New England's 2011 Divisional Round loss to the Jets.
Jan 14 - 2:20 PM

Patriots RE Chandler Jones was hospitalized for a bad reaction with synthetic marijuana.

It won't impact his Divisional Round status, but Jones could eventually be subject to suspension. Bills NT Marcell Dareus was suspended one game for a similar offense.
Jan 13 - 6:31 PM

Patriots RE Chandler Jones was hospitalized with an undisclosed medical issue Sunday morning, but has been practicing this week.

According to police records, Jones showed up at the Foxboro police department with a "medical emergency" at 7:42 AM Sunday morning, and was hospitalized thereafter. The department hasn't released any other details, and censored information before releasing it to the media. It's a deeply strange story, but it doesn't appear Jones' Divisional Round status is in doubt.

Patriots DE Chandler Jones (abdomen) was present for Friday's walkthrough.

Jones was limited with an abdomen injury on Thursday. The NFL's sack leader should be ready for Monday night's game against Buffalo.

Patriots exercised their fifth-year 2016 option on RE/OLB Chandler Jones.

The option is essentially a formality at $7.799 million. Jones is the Patriots' top pass rusher when healthy (23.5 sacks over three NFL seasons) and a key to the entire defense.

Patriots RE/OLB Chandler Jones is recovering from an undisclosed surgery.

Jones is currently rehabbing at Gillette Stadium and getting around with the aid of crutches. The Patriots do not publicly disclose injury details, but Jones did miss six games with a hip injury last season. ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss doesn't "get the sense from those close to Jones that there is any significant long-range concern about his health and availability."

Patriots DE/OLB Chandler Jones (hip) is active for Week 15 against the Dolphins.

Brandon LaFell, Shane Vereen and Julian Edelman are all a go for the Pats. Jones ended up missing six games with his hip injury. He'll likely be on a snap count this afternoon, but will be back to 100 percent for the postseason. He's the Pats' best pass rusher when healthy. Inactive for the Pats are CB Alfonzo Dennard, OT Jordan Devey, OT Cameron Fleming, RB James White, LB Chris White, DL Dominique Easley and DE Zach Moore.

Patriots DE/OLB Chandler Jones (hip) is listed as questionable for Week 15 against the Dolphins.

Jones has gotten in limited practices the last three weeks, and there appears to be some optimism he could suit up against the Dolphins. Even if he does not make it back for Week 15, it is clear Jones is close after suffering a significant hip injury Week 7. Jones' return will bolster a defense that has held the Broncos, Colts, Lions, Packers and Chargers to an average of 18 points over the last five games.

Patriots DE/OLB Chandler Jones (hip) has been a limited participant in practice the last two weeks.

Jones did some agility work Wednesday, including leaping over bags and bending down for a fumble drill. Although there's no timetable for a return, it looks like Jones is getting closer after suffering a serious hip injury in Week 7. Jones, an emerging star pass rusher, had 4.5 sacks and 15 quarterback hurries before going down.
Thu, Dec 4, 2014 08:43:00 AM

The hip injury Patriots DE Chandler Jones suffered Week 7 will sideline him at least six weeks, and could cost him the entire season.

That escalated quickly. Originally expected to be a month long absence, it now appears Jones will at best be available for the Patriots' Week 13 contest against the Packers, though New England is "not optimistic" Jones will be able to meet that timetable. Jones' injury is a huge blow for the Patriots' defense. Jones has 4.5 of New England's 18 sacks this season, and his pass-rushing presence makes everyone else along the defensive front better.
