WLB Vontaze Burfict exited the Bengals' Week 9 game against the Browns with a left knee injury and is questionable to return.

It's the same knee he had surgery on last offseason. Burfict logged two tackles before leaving early in the second quarter.
Nov 5 - 9:25 PM

Bengals WLB Vontaze Burfict (knee) is active for Week 8 against the Steelers.

Burfict will probably be on some sort of snap count, but his return is a big boost for the undefeated Bengals. Inactive for the Bengals are WR Mario Alford, CB Chris Lewis-Harris, LB P.J. Dawson, TE C.J. Uzomah, DL Marcus Hardison, DT Brandon Thompson and DL Margus Hunt.
Nov 1 - 11:36 AM

Bengals activated WLB Vontaze Burfict (knee) off the PUP.

Burfict was cleared to return to practice this week. The move indicates Burfict will play against the Steelers, but his snaps should be limited just 10 months removed from microfracture surgery. Greg Little was waived in a corresponding move.
Oct 31 - 11:34 AM

Bengals WLB Vontaze Burfict (knee, PUP) is expected to be a game-time decision Week 8 against the Steelers.

Burfict underwent microfracture surgery about 10 months ago and opened the season on reserve/PUP. He returned to practice this week. If he plays Sunday, it will be a very limited role. A.J. Hawk would still get the majority of snaps ahead of Burfict. He should be starting within a couple weeks.
Oct 30 - 10:19 AM

Bengals WLB Vontaze Burfict (knee, PUP) returned to practice on Thursday.

Burfict received medical clearance earlier in the week. The practice starts a 21-day clock for the Bengals to place him on the active roster. It is unlikely Burfict plays this week against the Steelers, but barring a setback he should return in the next couple weeks.
Oct 29 - 10:31 AM

Bengals WLB Vontaze Burfict is "ready to practice" after receiving a positive evaluation of his surgically repaired left knee this week.

Burfict is on the reserve/PUP list, recovering from microfracture surgery. ESPN's Adam Caplan's report indicates Burfict has received independent medical clearance, and it's now up to the Bengals to determine when and whether he's ready to play in games. Once Burfict officially resumes practicing, the Bengals will have a 21-day window in which they can activate him to the 53.
Oct 28 - 9:23 PM

Bengals placed WLB Vontaze Burfict (knee) on the reserve/PUP list.

The Bengals had been hoping Burfict would avoid the PUP. Now he's not eligible to play before Week 8. Sub-replacement level veteran A.J. Hawk is holding down the fort in Burfict's absence. Coming off microfracture surgery, it's a legitimate question whether Burfict will ever recapture his early-career form.
Sep 5 - 1:30 PM

The Bengals' official website said the "growing sense" is WLB Vontaze Burfict (knee) will begin the season on the reserve/PUP list.

The Bengals have been hopeful Burfict would be ready Week 1. If he starts on the PUP, Burfict would not be eligible to play until after the team's Week 7 bye. Veteran A.J. Hawk has started the first two preseason games at weakside linebacker.
Aug 29 - 2:09 PM

The Bengals haven't ruled WLB Vontaze Burfict (knee) out for Week 1.

DC Paul Guenther believes Burfict could return by the final week of August, which would give him a shot at being ready for Week 1. Coach Marvin Lewis "likes" the way Burfict has been rehabbing as he tries to get back to speed following microfracture surgery. We ultimately doubt Burfict will be ready for Week 1, but perhaps he'll avoid the reserve/PUP list.
Aug 6 - 2:53 PM

Bengals placed WLB Vontaze Burfict (knee) on the active/PUP list.

It's quite likely Burfict will remain on the PUP list through Week 1, which means he'll miss the first six games of the season. Recovering from microfracture surgery and neck issues, it's possible Burfict ends up missing the entire season. Speaking Tuesday, coach Marvin Lewis said Burfict would be "way ahead of the curve" if he saw preseason snaps.
Jul 28 - 3:14 PM

ESPN Bengals reporter Coley Harvey doesn't expect WLB Vontaze Burfict (knee) to be ready for Week 1.

Burfict could only work on the side at OTAs. He’s not expected to be cleared for training camp. All signs continue to point to Burfict opening the season on reserve/PUP. Coming off microfracture, Burfict is facing an uphill battle to regain pre-injury form.
Jun 24 - 6:42 PM

Coach Marvin Lewis admitted WLB Vontaze Burfict (knee) has a "long ways to go" in his rehab.

"Vontaze will be in rehab all the way through the summer," Lewis said. Burfict walked with a "hobble" and "generally looked uncomfortable" after running off to the side of Tuesday's practice. Signs continue to point to him landing on reserve/PUP to start the season. A.J. Hawk ran with the starters to begin OTAs.
May 27 - 10:14 AM

Per Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official website, it's a "tight call" whether WLB Vontaze Burfict (knee) will be ready Week 1.

Our last update on Burfict came three months ago when the Bengals said they expect Burfict to be ready for the start of training camp. That's extremely optimistic with Burfict coming off microfracture surgery. Realistically, Burfict is about 50-50 to open the season on reserve/PUP. The Bengals have veterans Vincent Rey and A.J. Hawk as insurance along with third-round LB Paul Dawson.
May 20 - 8:00 AM

The Bengals are expecting WLB Vontaze Burfict (knee surgeries) to be ready for the start of training camp.

Burfict underwent two surgeries on his left knee last year, including microfracture surgery immediately after the season. Given the tricky nature of his operation, the Bengals would be wise to add depth at linebacker. Dehner believes Cincinnati is likely to address the position in free agency.
