According to ESPN Bengals reporter Katherine Terrell, WLB Vontaze Burfict "looks like he's dropped a lot of weight" over the offseason.
We're taking it as a good thing. Burfict looked a bit chunky last season as he dealt with numerous knee, foot, and brain injuries early and late in the year. He still had a strong season in Pro Football Focus' metrics, grading out as their No. 3-ranked 4-3 outside linebacker out of 31 qualifiers. When on the top of his game, Burfict is an elite talent at his position. He's still just 26 years old. May 26 - 10:25 AM

Bengals WLB Vontaze Burfict (concussion) will not play Week 17 against the Ravens.

Burfict is still in the concussion protocol after being allowed to play through what looked like a clear head injury against the Steelers in Week 15. There is no reason to rush him back for the meaningless season finale. Burfict should be ready to go for the offseason program.

Bengals WLB Vontaze Burfict (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 16 against the Texans.

Burfict is arguably the Bengals' best or second-best defender behind DT Geno Atkins. It's a big loss and provides a boost to the matchups for Lamar Miller (ankle), should he play, and TEs C.J. Fiedorowicz and Ryan Griffin.

Bengals WLB Vontaze Burfict is in the league's concussion protocol.

He didn't practice Wednesday. Burfict was checked for a concussion in the first half of last week's game against the Steelers but came back out and played the second half. He felt the symptoms after the contest.

Vontaze Burfict was cleared of a concussion and returned to the field Week 15 against the Steelers.

Burfict was clearly disoriented after taking a shot to the back of the head in the second quarter, but he was cleared to return after halftime. Burfict got into an altercation on his second play back, so he is clearly back to normal.

Bengals WLB Vontaze Burfict exited Week 15 against the Steelers with a possible concussion.

Burfict took a shot to the back of the head by David DeCastro in the second quarter. He was clearly disoriented as he tried to get up after the hit and had to be escorted off the field. He went to the locker room to be evaluated. Burfict had been all over the field before the injury. His absence will be a big one.

Bengals WLB Vontaze Burfict was carted off with an ankle injury at Wednesday's practice.

The cart was brought out as a precaution and the Bengals don't consider his injury serious. It's already been a turbulent week for Burfict, who was just hit with a $75,000 fine for stomping on LeGarrette Blount's leg in Week 6. We're guessing he'll be available Sunday when the Bengals host Cleveland.

Bengals WLB Vontaze Burfict was fined $75,000 for stomping on LeGarrette Blount's leg following a fourth-quarter touchdown in Week 6.

Some were expecting Burfict to be hit with another suspension, and possibly a lengthy one after he was slapped with a three-game ban to start the year following last season's on-field incidents. Burfict is actually quite lucky he didn't get another ban, even if the $75K fine is pretty steep for a player.

Bengals WLB Vontaze Burfict is expected to play 25-35 snaps Thursday night.

Suspended the first three games, coach Marvin Lewis said the team would "have to lock him in a trunk" to keep Burfict from playing Thursday. That comment suggests the linebacker could easily surpass whatever snap goals the team sets entering the game. Burfict's return should be a big boost to the entire defense.

Bengals WLB Vontaze Burfict's three-game suspension has ended.

Burfict will rejoin the team this week and should be ready to go Thursday night against the Dolphins. Burfict's return will be a big boost to a defense which needs it.

Suspended Bengals WLB Vontaze Burfict missed the start of training camp with a foot injury.

Burfict was previously listed with a knee injury. He also reported to camp overweight, but should be close to playing shape after the Bengals removed him from active/NFI. Burfict is expected to sit out the entire preseason, but will be ready for a full workload when he returns from suspension.

Bengals activated suspended WLB Vontaze Burfict off active/PUP.

The Bengals had listed him with a knee injury. Burfict is suspended for the first three games of the season due to repeated violations of the league's on-field player safety policy. The Bengals have big run defense splits sans Burfict, which is something to file away for in-season fantasy matchup purposes.

Bengals placed WLB Vontaze Burfict (knee) on the active/NFI list.

The Bengals aren’t taking any chances with Burfict after multiple setbacks the last two years. He can be activated at any time, but is expected to be held out of preseason games. Burfict’s health will be a non-issue when he returns from suspension in Week 4.

The Bengals will hold suspended WLB Vontaze Burfict out of the preseason.

It's not as punishment, but to keep Burfict healthy. Burfict has suffered a number of serious injuries, but managed to remain highly effective. Banned for three games for multiple violations of the league's policy on player safety, Burfict will be back for Week 4. He turns 26 in September.

Bengals WLB Vontaze Burfict (suspended) admitted he needs to change the way he plays.

"I play hard. Sometimes it gets me in trouble," Burfict said. "My style of play is aggressive, and [the game has] changed, and I have to change with it, and that play right there, I think if I wasn't number 55, I wouldn't have got flagged." Burfict is referring to the vicious hit he laid on a defenseless Antonio Brown at the end of Cincinnati's Wild Card loss. The hit would have drawn a flag regardless of who delivered it, but Burfict's history contributed to the league suspending him three games following the incident. It is great Burfict recognizes he needs to change, but it will take more than words to repair his reputation.
