Bills DL Jerel Worthy saw snaps with the top two units at OTAs.
A second-round bust of the Packers, Worthy has been out of the league most of the last two seasons. He did earn a call-up from the Bills' practice squad late last year, however, and it sounds like he has at least a shot to crack the final roster. Even if he makes the team, Worthy will be a rotational player at best. Jun 4 - 10:13 AM

Patriots released DE Jerel Worthy.

Acquired from the Packers in mid-August, Worthy would have cost the Patriots a late-round pick had he made the roster. Worthy had six tackles in two games with New England this preseason. Someone will take a shot on the former second-round pick.

Patriots acquired DE Jerel Worthy from the Packers in exchange for a future late-round pick.

ESPN.com's Rob Demovsky repots the pick is contingent on Worthy making the team. A 2012 second-rounder, Worthy has yet to practice this summer because of a back injury. A one-gap penetrator in college, Worthy struggled to adjust to DC Dom Capers' two-gap system in Green Bay, and was limited to two games last season after tearing his ACL in January 2013. He's just a flier for the Patriots, who are always stockpiling bodies up front.

Packers 2012 second-round pick Jerel Worthy will enter training camp on the roster bubble.

Beat writer Rob Demovsky believes Worthy's "place on the roster is far from guaranteed." A one-gap penetrator at Michigan State, Worthy struggled to assimilate into DC Dom Capers' two-gap scheme as a rookie, and was a non-factor in two appearances last season, after returning from ACL surgery. He could be pushed off the roster if Johnny Jolly and/or Ryan Pickett is re-signed.

Packers activated DE Jerel Worthy (knee) and S Sean Richardson (neck) from the reserve/PUP list.

Worthy has been sidelined since tearing his ACL in Week 17 last season. He'll likely be used in nickel packages when healthy enough to return. Richardson has received full medical clearance after undergoing surgery to repair a herniated disc in January and is expected to contribute immediately on special teams.

Packers DE Jerel Worthy (knee, PUP) is practicing for the first time this season Wednesday.

S Sean Richardson, who is also on reserve/PUP with a neck injury, is practicing for the first time Wednesday, as well. Worthy tore his ACL in Week 17 last season and has vowed to play at some point this season. The Packers need to make a decision whether to send Worthy to injured reserve or activate him by next week.

Packers DE Jerel Worthy (knee, PUP) said he's ready to practice next week.

Worthy tore his ACL last Week 17. He's eligible to begin practicing next week, but doctors have yet to clear him. It'd be a huge surprise if Worthy played a snap this season. He has vowed to play at some point in 2013, however.

Packers placed DE Jerel Worthy (knee) on reserve/PUP.

Worthy tore his left ACL during Week 17 of last season. As expected, he'll start on PUP which means the earliest he'll play is Week 7. Worthy had 2.5 sacks during his rookie year as a rotational end.

Packers placed DE Jerel Worthy (knee) on the active/PUP list.

It's strictly a procedural move, as Worthy is six months removed from ACL surgery and a strong candidate to open the season on reserve/PUP. Despite long odds, Worthy has vowed to play "at some point" in 2013.

Packers DE Jerel Worthy (torn ACL) is vowing to play "at some point" in 2013.

Worthy tore his left ACL in Week 17. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel gave him "long odds" of playing this season in a January article. The 2012 second-round pick notched 2.5 sacks in 443 snaps as a rookie. He'll almost certainly begin 2013 on the reserve/PUP list.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel is giving Packers 2012 second-round pick Jerel Worthy (ACL surgery) "long odds" of playing football in 2013.

Worthy tore his left ACL on December 30 and underwent surgery on January 15. He'll likely open the 2013 season on the PUP list, costing Worthy at least the first six games. Showing promise as a rookie, the Michigan State alum notched 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble while playing 443 snaps as a rotational end.

Packers DE Jerel Worthy underwent surgery for a torn ACL last week.

So much for that initial bone bruise diagnosis. Worthy visited Dr. James Andrews in Florida on Tuesday and underwent the reconstruction. Green Bay's 2012 second-round pick will now be up against the clock to be ready for Week 1, and will most likely start the season on the PUP list. Worthy produced just 2.5 sacks in an all-around underwhelming rookie year.

Updating a previous item, Packers DE Jerel Worthy's season-ending knee injury did indeed require surgery on Tuesday.

Worthy was under the impression that the injury was just a deep bruise which would not require a procedure. It's obviously a more serious injury. The 51st pick in the 2012 draft is expected to miss the entire offseason following Tuesday's procedure.

Packers DE Jerel Worthy's season-ending knee injury wasn't as serious as initially feared and is not expected to require surgery.

"From what I know, they said it was like a severe knee bruise," said Worthy. "Just something that would have really affected me if I would have went out there and played over the last few weeks." Worthy does not believe the injury will cause him to miss any significant portion of the team's offseason workouts.

Packers DE Jerel Worthy (knee) has been ruled out for the postseason.

The Pack have yet to reveal the full extent of Worthy's injury, but he needed the assistance of crutches and a "full leg brace" to depart the locker room following Sunday's loss. At the very least, he's dealing with a significant strain. A second-round pick in last April's draft, Worthy notched 14 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 14 games as a rotational lineman, but graded out as one of the league's worst 3-4 ends in Pro Football Focus' ratings.
