Vikings placed CB Josh Robinson (pectoral) on the active/PUP list.

We won't blurb every player placed on active/PUP to begin training camp, but will blurb those players who are candidates to open the season on reserve/PUP, costing them the first six games. Robinson falls into the latter category after suffering a partially torn pectoral before mandatory minicamp in June.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune confirms CB Josh Robinson (pectoral) is a candidate for reserve/PUP.

Robinson would miss at least the first six weeks on PUP. The Vikings don’t consider his injury season ending. Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes, Captain Munnerlyn, and Terence Newman are locked in as Minnesota's top four corners.

Vikings CB Josh Robinson suffered a partially torn pectoral before minicamp.

Robinson is expected to be sidelined for training camp and could be a reserve/PUP candidate. His absence gives rookie Trae Waynes a clearer path to playing time behind Xavier Rhodes and Captain Munnerlyn. Robinson is scheduled to make $1.55 million in the final year of his rookie deal.

Vikings placed CB Josh Robinson on injured reserve with a fractured sternum, ending his season.

Robinson had been sidelined since Week 11 and will officially be shut down. He struggled replacing Antoine Winfield in the slot this season, grading out negatively in both pass coverage and against the run by Pro Football Focus. Robinson had just 58 tackles and a forced fumble prior to being injured. He'll face competition for the nickel job in 2014.

Vikings coach Leslie Frazier revealed Monday CB Josh Robinson "might" miss the rest of the season with a fractured sternum.

The 2-8 Vikings don't have much season left. Although Robinson has played better of late, he was a major part of Minnesota's early-season deficiencies in pass defense, proving an inadequate replacement for slot corner Antoine Winfield. The Vikings won't be able to count on him as a nickel back in 2014.

ESPN 1500 Twin Cities reports the Vikings are concerned about Josh Robinson's transition to nickel cornerback.

Succeeding Antoine Winfield in the slot, Robinson has struggled early in camp and profiles as a liability against the run. "Josh has never been inside before, so it's a big transition," DC Alan Williams said. "He's going to make mistakes." Even if Robinson continues to struggle, he's locked into the nickel job because the Vikings lack compelling alternatives.

Vikings CB Josh Robinson admitted he's not very comfortable playing in the slot.

Robinson has been tabbed as Antoine Winfield's replacement. The second-year man never played slot corner while at Central Florida and never profiled as a strong tackler. "This is all new to me," Robinson said. Opposing offensive coordinators are going to put him to the test early and often this season.

2012 third-round pick Josh Robinson is expected to be the Vikings' nickel back this season after the Xavier Rhodes first-round pick.

Rhodes and Chris Cook will start outside with Robinson in the slot corner role vacated by Antoine Winfield. A.J. Jefferson will get the first crack at dime back. Robinson showed flashes as a rookie, but was highly inconsistent. NFC North teams figure to try to pick on him with Randall Cobb, and with the Bears and Lions respectively moving Brandon Marshall and Calvin Johnson into the slot.

Vikings agreed to terms with third-round CB Josh Robinson on a four-year contract.

While it's a bit of a red flag in terms of college game tape that Robinson was still available after two rounds of the draft, he displayed blazing speed (4.33) and all-around athleticism in his Combine workout. A bit of a project, Robinson seems unlikely to threaten for significant playing time as a rookie.

GM Rick Spielman indicated that rookie CB Josh Robinson will compete with CB Marcus Sherels and WR Jarius Wright for punt-return duties.

The fastest of the three, Robinson averaged 13.1 yards on 27 returns at Central Florida the past two seasons. Wright averaged just 5.9 yards on eight returns over four seasons at Arkansas. Sherels is the incumbent, racking up 277 yards (8.4 yards per) on 33 returns last season.

Vikings coach Leslie Frazier wants third-round CB Josh Robinson to "compete for a starting job."

"Not just the nickel position," Frazier emphasized. Frazier has also been impressed with Robinson's return ability at Vikings rookie minicamp: "He caught a punt and he just took off like a guy shot out of a rocket." Robinson clocked a Combine-best 4.33 in the 40. Although things remain unsettled in the Vikings' secondary, Robinson should prove too raw to start as a rookie.

Vikings selected UCF CB Josh Robinson with the No. 66 overall pick in the 2012 draft.

A 36-game starter for the Golden Knights, Robinson notched 10 career picks and lit up the Combine, posting the fastest official 40 time at 4.33. He also posted the best broad jump (11-foot-1) for a defensive back and tied for the second best vertical leap amongst corners (38 1/2"). He has extremely raw mechanics, however, and is a highly ordinary tackler. Even with the Vikings revamping a secondary that was one of the league's worst in 2011, Robinson shouldn't start as a rookie.

UCF CB Josh Robinson led all cornerbacks at the Combine in the forty-yard dash with unofficial times of 4.29 and 4.31.

His "official" forty was 4.33, fastest of any player invited to Indy. Robinson also posted the best broad jump (11-foot-1) among all DBs and tied for second in the vertical (38 1/2") at his position. The third-year junior Robinson is one of the rawest cornerbacks in the 2012 class, but he's going to leap up draft boards. Robinson weighed in earlier in the week at 5-foot-10 1/8 and 199 pounds, a rock solid stature. He has ball skills after collecting 10 interceptions at UCF, and may now be a second-round pick.

Central Florida CB Josh Robinson will forgo his senior season and enter the 2012 NFL draft.

A 36-game starter for the Golden Knights, Robinson intercepted 10 career passes and earned All-Conference USA accolades in each of his three seasons, including first-team selections as both a sophomore and junior. Robinson also averaged an impressive 13.1 career yards per punt return. Listed at 5-foot-10, 192, Robinson could be a riser during pre-draft workouts.
