The Cincinnati Enquirer's Joe Reedy suggests second-year TE Orson Charles could be on the roster bubble this summer.
Charles was such a rookie non-factor that he hasn't merited a Rotoworld blurb since June of 2012. Reedy expects Charles to be the Bengals' "No. 3 TE or released." A fourth-round pick out of Georgia, Charles played roughly 300 snaps but caught only eight passes for 101 yards. He's become superfluous after Tyler Eifert was drafted to team with Jermaine Gresham in two-tight packages. May 5 - 5:55 PM

Fourth-round TE Orson Charles has exceeded coach Marvin Lewis' expectations "in every way."

"I knew he was a big, strong guy," said Lewis. "But his ability to run and catch the ball has been impressive." Although Charles has his hands full learning responsibilities in both the run and pass game, OC Jay Gruden is impressed that "physically he's shown things that are very exciting" and "his strength is unreal."

Bengals signed fourth-round TE Orson Charles to a four-year contract.

Though he flashed explosive talent as a first-team All-SEC pick in 2011, Charles tested poorly before the draft and was also arrested for a March DUI, sending his stock into a tailspin. He'll compete for the "move" tight end role behind Jermaine Gresham, although that hasn't been a productive position in Cincinnati's recent offenses. It may change in Jay Gruden's second year.

Bengals selected Georgia TE Orson Charles with the No. 116 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.

Charles was a consensus first-team All-SEC pick in 2011, before declaring early for the draft. He threw up several red flags, however, with poor in-shorts measurables, a pre-draft agent change, and a DUI arrest in early March. Charles plays faster in pads than he times, and he was a catch-first weapon down the seam in Georgia's pro-style passing game. He could develop into a very nice No. 2 tight end complement for Bengals starter Jermaine Gresham.

Georgia TE Orson Charles has switched agents.

It's a red flag with the draft just two weeks away, and a sign Charles felt his stock slipping following his disappointing Pro Day and March DUI arrest. Charles' upside in a tight-end crazy league should prevent him from falling beyond day two, but he's no longer a lock to be the second tight end off the board behind Stanford's Coby Fleener.

Georgia TE Orson Charles was arrested Friday morning and charged with DUI in Clarke County, GA.

The first-team All-SEC tight end was the No. 1 prospect at his position, according to NFL Network's Mike Mayock. Although underwhelming at Georgia's Pro Day early this week, Charles was still expected to push Stanford's Coby Fleener as the first tight end off the board next month. The DUI makes Charles a much riskier pick.

Wind gusts of 20-30 MPH at Monday's Georgia Pro Day may have adversely affected TE Orson Charles' forty times of 4.75 and 4.90.

The 4.75 was presumably with the wind and the 4.90 was likely "into" the wind, so Charles isn't necessarily off the hook for the disappointing sprints. CBS Sports' Rob Rang also had Charles in the 4.7-4.88 range. NFL teams are expected to slightly adjust the times in Charles' favor because of the conditions. Other marks from Charles' Pro Day included a 30 1/2" vertical, 9-foot-5 broad jump, 4.75-second short shuttle, and 4.29 three-cone time.

Georgia TE Orson Charles managed forty times of 4.75 and 4.90 at the Bulldogs' Monday Pro Day.

The times are disappointing for Charles, who opted against running at the Combine in an effort to post fast forty times in Athens. Charles may struggle to be drafted in round one. Our best guess is that Stanford's Coby Fleener will be the first tight end off the board in April. Charles is competing with Clemson's Dwayne Allen and Louisiana-Lafayette's Ladarius Green for No. 2.

Georgia TE Orson Charles measured 6-foot-2 1/2 and 251 pounds at the Scouting Combine weigh-in.

The only test in which Charles took part was the bench, hoisting 225 pounds 35 times to lead all players at his position. He has 32 1/2-inch arms, which is respectable length for a tight end. Charles will presumably run the forty and do jumps at Georgia's Pro Day. He told reporters he's just not ready yet.

Georgia TE Orson Charles led all tight ends at the Combine with 35 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press Friday.

The lone knock on Charles is his possible inability to block pass rushers in the pros, but he played about 80 percent of his snaps as an in-line tight end in Georgia's pro-style offense and clearly possesses plenty of strength. While the best way to use Charles in the NFL may be as a matchup-busting slot receiver, he has the potential to play on the line of scrimmage as well.

Georgia TE Orson Charles is now the top-rated tight end in the 2012 draft, per NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock's updated rankings.

Mayock ranks Charles No. 1, Stanford's Coby Fleener No. 2, and Clemson's Dwayne Allen No. 3. Rounding out the top five are LSU's DeAngelo Peterson and Ladarius Green of Louisiana-Lafayette. Described as a "Joker" tight end by Rotoworld draft guru Josh Norris, Charles probably won't be much of a blocking asset in the pros, but he can stretch the seam and may crack 4.4s in Indy.

Georgia TE Orson Charles announced Wednesday that he will forgo his senior season and enter the 2012 NFL draft.

An athletic, "joker" tight end at 6'3/241, Charles was a consensus first-team All-SEC pick as a 20-year-old in 2011. He led the Dogs in receptions (44), going for 572 yards and four touchdowns and was elected a team captain. Charles immediately vaults to the top of a weak 2012 tight end class, ahead of Clemson's Dwayne Allen, Stanford's Coby Fleener, and Missouri's Mike Egnew.
