Rams DT Michael Brockers' three-year extension is worth "in excess" of $33 million, and includes "more than" $16 million guaranteed.
Brockers is a worthy member of a defensive line that's underachieved its reputation at times over the past few seasons. He clogs up running lanes, and doesn't miss games. It's not a bad contract from the Rams' embattled brain trust. Sep 15 - 2:58 PM

Rams signed DT Michael Brockers to a three-year contract extension through 2019.

The No. 14 overall pick of the 2012 draft, Brockers is in the final year of his rookie contract, making $6.146 million. Brockers has never quite developed into a star player, but is durable and an asset against the run. He played 706 snaps last season. He's a worthy member of what's supposed to be a dominant defensive line. Brockers turns 26 in December.

The Rams want to extend contract-year DT Michael Brockers.

Brockers was a rumored trade candidate last offseason, but ended up having his finest season in 2015. Brockers offers little pass-rushing heat, but is a mauling run defender. He's ticketed for $6.146 million entering his age-25 season.

TFY Draft Insider Tony Pauline reports the Cowboys, Texans, Cardinals, and Dolphins have all expressed interest in trading for Rams DT Michael Brockers.

Brockers rumors are swirling, though Rams COO Kevin Demoff essentially said there's a zero percent chance Brockers would be dealt. We've grown to not believe anything St. Louis -- or any other team -- says because they lie constantly. Brockers, the 14th overall pick in 2012, has been about as "meh" as possible with the Rams, simply being average both as a run stopper and pass rusher. The Rams have Nick Fairley and Aaron Donald at defensive tackle, though they are both three-technique gap shooters, while Brockers is a "one" (nose).

The Rams will exercise DT Michael Brockers' $6.146 million team option for 2016.

The move had been expected for some time. The No. 14 overall pick of the 2012 draft, Brockers is a decent run stopper who offers occasional pass-rushing heat. He'll lose snaps to Nick Fairley this season. With Brockers' option guaranteed for injury only, it's not inconceivable the Rams end up rescinding it before next year's free-agency period.

ESPN Rams reporter Nick Wagoner considers it a certainty that the team will exercise DT Michael Brockers' fifth-year team option for 2016.

This past year, the option came with a $5 million-plus salary, which is more than fair, even if Brockers has yet to make a huge impact as the No. 14 overall pick of the 2012 draft. Brockers has 11.5 sacks through three seasons and received plus marks for his run defense last season. He'll remain a fixture on early downs before coming off the field in favor of Nick Fairley on passing downs.

ESPN Rams reporter Nick Wagoner considers DT Michael Brockers a potential breakout candidate.

Brockers is coming off a solid season after dealing with injuries as a rookie, starting all 16 games and recording 5.5 sacks. He finished as the No. 45 overall defensive tackle by Pro Football Focus, but graded out positively against the run. With the addition of first-round DT Aaron Donald on the inside, Brockers should see fewer double-teams and more sack opportunities in 2014.

Rams DT Michael Brockers underwent "cleanup" surgery on his left ankle in February, but is 100 percent for camp.

It's not the same ankle that Brockers hurt last preseason, costing him the first three games of his NFL career. Coach Jeff Fisher has been impressed with Brockers' camp. "He’s worked very hard," Fisher said. "He’s changed his body, and we think he can be a dominating player inside." We agree with Fisher's assessment.

The Rams are expecting "big things" from 2012 first-round pick Michael Brockers in his second year.

Slowed by a high ankle sprain early in his rookie season, Brockers came on very strong down the stretch and ranked 21st in Pro Football Focus' 4-3 defensive tackle run-stopping ratings. Brockers chipped in four sacks and a forced fumble in 12 starts. Brockers won't turn 23 years old until just before Christmas.

Michael Brockers led all Rams defensive tackles in snaps during Week 6 with 31.

Brockers has no sacks and two tackles in his three games, but he's contributing up the gut. The first-round rookie is part of an impressively physical Rams defense currently ranked seventh in the league.

Rams DT Michael Brockers suffered only "a little tweak" with his troublesome ankle in Sunday's win.

Making his NFL debut, Brockers crumpled to the ground on only his second series, but returned just a few plays later. "Got back in here, wrapped it up again, and got back in there," Brockers said. "Thought about the ankle a little bit. But in the game, the adrenaline's pumping and you kind of forget the ankle's there." Brockers was held off the stat sheet, but saw heavy snaps. He should be ready to make a bigger impact in Week 5.

Rams DT Michael Brockers (ankle) resumed practicing Wednesday.

Brockers only got in a limited session, but is "optimistic he'll be ready to play Sunday." The No. 14 pick would go a long way toward fortifying a run defense that's allowed 362 yards through three games. Brockers was impressive in the preseason.

Rams DT Michael Brockers (ankle) is expected to resume practicing this week.

Brockers participated in warmups ahead of Sunday's loss to the Bears, and the Rams sound optimistic that he'll be available for Week 4 against Seattle. St. Louis has been getting eviscerated by opposing running games without Brockers in the lineup. The 322-pound widebody's return could only help.

Rams DT Michael Brockers has finally shed his walking boot, a first step as he continues to recover from a high ankle sprain.

Brockers won't play against the Bears. In his absence, the Rams' defense has managed to allow a higher yards-per-carry average than any team in football.

Rams DT Michael Brockers (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 2.

Brockers' absence could be a bigger deal against the run-savvy Redskins than it was against the pass-happy Lions a week ago. Brockers is dealing with a high ankle sprain. The Rams have yet to place a timetable on his return.
