Making his preseason debut in Saturday's game against the Colts, Brian Quick (shoulder) wasn't targeted.
Curiously, Quick's first snaps didn't come until the final five minutes of the first half. Cleared for contact only five days ago, he was on the strictest of snap counts. Although he's been limited all summer as he comes back from a severe shoulder injury, Quick should begin the year as the Rams' No. 1 receiver, or at worst No. 2 behind Kenny Britt. Quick is in the fantasy WR3 mix. Aug 29 - 11:31 PM

Date:

Brian Quick (shoulder) will play in Saturday's preseason game.

Quick just had his first full-contact practice on Tuesday, but the Rams want him to get some game action with Week 1 just 19 days away. Quick is at the tail end of a grueling rehab. Coming off an injury-shortened breakout season, Quick is a WR3 with legitimate WR2 upside.

The Rams have cleared WR Brian Quick (shoulder) for contact.

It's been a long, but impressive, recovery for Quick, who suffered some serious structural damage in his shoulder midway through last season. By all accounts, the contract-year wideout has looked like his early-2014 self when he was on pace for a 64-973-8 receiving line before getting hurt. Once fully healthy, Quick and Kenny Britt should be the Rams' receivers in two-wide sets.

According to ESPN Rams reporter Nick Wagoner, Brian Quick has "clearly been the team's best and most consistent receiver" in training camp.

Wagoner says Quick "looks healthy" after last year's severe shoulder injury, and expects Quick to be the Rams' "most productive pass catcher in 2015." Quick looks like a potential steal in drafts at his current double-digit round ADP, offering WR2 upside and quite possibly a WR3 floor. The Rams have held Quick out of their first two preseason games, but only as a precaution.

The Rams held Brian Quick (shoulder) out of their preseason opener.

The team has played it ultra-conservatively with Quick, even after keeping him off the active/PUP list to open camp. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Quick is still expected to play in preseason games. It's conceivable the Rams would hold Quick out until their regular season dress rehearsal.

Although Brian Quick is not listed as a starter on the Rams' initial preseason depth chart, ESPN Rams reporter Nick Wagoner expects Quick to open the season starting opposite Kenny Britt.

As do we. Wagoner suspects Quick was left out of the starting lineup (in favor of Tavon Austin, ugh) on the initial depth chart because of his recovery from offseason shoulder surgery. We found it more notable that the Rams listed three receivers as starters on the depth chart, which might hint at the team using three receivers as a base formation. This would get Britt, Quick, and ideally Stedman Bailey (not Austin) on the field together.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher said Tuesday he fully expects Brian Quick to play in preseason games.

Fisher made it clear Quick isn't quite 100-percent recovered from his major shoulder operation, but he will be there soon. Quick is participating in team drills at training camp. "We’re protecting him," said Fisher. "But I would expect him to play in preseason games and go out and be productive. It’s really good to have him back. He was off to a great start last year."
Aug 4 - 8:53 PM

The Rams feared Brian Quick's shoulder injury was "career threatening" when he went down in Week 8 of last season.

Quick dislocated the shoulder and tore his rotator cuff. "It’s remarkable what he’s overcome," coach Jeff Fisher said. "The damage he sustained to his shoulder was significant and there was some talk early on that it might’ve been career-threatening and that he might not be able to come back." Quick has come back, even avoiding the active/PUP list to open training camp. He's penned in as the Rams' starting wideout opposite Kenny Britt.
Aug 2 - 4:06 PM

Brian Quick (shoulder surgery) avoided active/PUP to open Rams camp.

He will be "eased" in. Either way, it's a positive development after an extensive shoulder operation to repair an injury that ended Quick's would've-been-breakout 2014 campaign. Quick and Kenny Britt should line up as St. Louis' Opening Day starters at wideout, with Stedman Bailey and Tavon Austin mixing in for sub-packages. Still only 25 years old, Quick offers upside at his double-digit round ADP.
Jul 30 - 1:29 PM

ESPN Rams reporter Nick Wagoner believes WR Brian Quick (shoulder surgery) has a "good shot" to be ready Week 1.

Quick has progressed well after suffering a severe shoulder injury late last October. Quick participated in individual drills during the offseason program, and could be bumped up to team drills early in training camp. If healthy, Quick should be the Rams No. 1 receiver.

Brian Quick (shoulder surgery) is running routes "against air" at Rams OTAs.

The good news is he's doing anything at all. Coming off a severe shoulder operation, Quick will be in a race to be ready for training camp, though he is considered likely to be ready for Week 1. Quick is the favorite to serve as St. Louis' No. 1 receiver this season, ahead of Kenny Britt.
Jun 4 - 10:48 PM

ESPN Rams reporter Nick Wagoner believes Brian Quick (shoulder surgery) has a "realistic" chance to be ready by Week 1.

The Rams haven't committed to a timetable for Quick's return, but there haven't been any known setbacks. Coach Jeff Fisher said before last month's draft that Quick is "progressing quickly," though he hasn't participated in post-draft practices. Quick saw nine targets in three of St. Louis' first four games last season, before quarterback woes and his significant shoulder injury curtailed what might have been a true breakout year.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher said Tuesday that Brian Quick (shoulder surgery) is "progressing quickly," and left open the possibility of Quick participating in some OTAs.

He would do so "with protection" on the shoulder, per beat reporter Jim Thomas. Quick's surgery was major, repairing three torn ligaments and his rotator cuff. We've considered it questionable that Quick will be ready for training camp, but he does sound on track. GM Les Snead said he recently saw Quick dunk a basketball, though Quick did so with his non-surgically-repaired arm.
Apr 29 - 12:11 AM

ESPN Rams reporter Nick Wagoner expects Brian Quick (shoulder surgery) to miss the team's entire offseason program, and considers him questionable for training camp.

Per Wagoner, the team "privately hopes" Quick will be ready for camp. As previously reported, coach Jeff Fisher hedged on the question Wednesday. "It was a very, very difficult early rehab process," Fisher said. "It was an extensive, extensive injury. He's starting to see the light now." It sounds like the team's ultimate goal for Quick is Week 1, meaning he could begin camp on the active/PUP list, and miss some preseason action.

Mar 26 - 4:32 PM

Speaking Wednesday, Rams coach Jeff Fisher said Brian Quick (shoulder surgery) is "starting to see the light," but hedged when asked if he'd be ready for camp.

Quick's injury was severe, as he suffered both a dislocated shoulder and torn rotator cuff. It requires a methodical rehab. Barring setbacks, he should be ready for Week 1, but it's possible he'll be limited in preseason action. Neither Quick — who is in a contract year — nor the Rams need to take any chances with his recovery.
