Eagles SLB Mychal Kendricks (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 17.
Both Kendricks and fellow rookie DT Fletcher Cox sustained concussions in last week's loss to the Redskins. Kendricks is currently third on the team in tackles with 75, and has recorded an impressive nine passes defensed. Akeem Jordan will start at strong-side linebacker in Kendricks' place. Eagles LB Mychal Kendricks sustained a concussion in Sunday's Week 16 loss to the Redskins.

Along with fellow rookie Fletcher Cox, Kendricks was a bright spot in a lost season for the Eagles. Assuming he sits out the finale, the second-round pick will finish with 75 tackles and one sack. He'll be back as the likely starter on the strong side under a new regime in 2013.

Eagles SLB Mychal Kendricks did not start Sunday's Week 8 loss to the Falcons for disciplinary reasons.

Casey Matthews played the strong-side linebacker spot during the first series. After that, Kendricks assumed his normal role. The second-round rookie, who was late to a meeting on Friday, finished with just two tackles and one pass breakup. As a whole, the Eagles defense forced just one punt and didn't generate a single turnover.

Eagles SLB Mychal Kendricks left Sunday's Week 5 game versus the Steelers with an apparent ankle injury.

Kendricks had trouble putting weight on the foot and was sent to the trainers' table. He had missed a couple of key tackles earlier in the game. Casey Matthews has come on as his replacement. Kendricks returned to the game in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles are using rookie LB Mychal Kendricks as an every-down linebacker.

It's good news for his IDP value. While Kendricks managed just five tackles (four solo) in the opener, his stats should improve by the week. Kendricks opened Sunday's win at strong-side linebacker. He's also seeing action at WILL. DeMeco Ryans and Kendricks were the nickel 'backers in Sunday's opener.

Eagles rookie SLB Mychal Kendricks has not worked with the nickel defense so far training camp.

Kendricks posted five tackles, including two for a loss, in the preseason opener, but he's coming off the field on passing downs. While this will limit his IDP appeal, Kendricks continues to impress with his physical, sideline-to-sideline play. "Mychal, man he's relentless," said defensive coordinator Juan Castillo. "... He came through and made big plays (Thursday night against the Steelers)."

Coach Andy Reid confirmed Sunday that second-round pick Mychal Kendricks will open camp as the Eagles' starting strong-side linebacker.

It's as expected, but still quite the nod of approval for a rookie before contact practices have even begun. Eagles coaches love Kendricks, and he projects as a three-down linebacker in his first year. IDPers should keep tabs.

Second-rounder Mychal Kendricks is expected to enter training camp as the Eagles' starting strong-side linebacker.

"He improved every day [throughout spring practices]," said coach Andy Reid, "and we threw a lot at him to give him a solid foundation to go into training camp with." The No. 46 overall pick has showed off explosiveness, athleticism, pass-rush, and coverage ability this offseason.

No. 46 pick LB Mychal Kendricks was running as the first-team SAM linebacker at Eagles OTAs on Tuesday.

Just as he did at the Eagles' rookie minicamp. Kendricks' prime competition for the job, LB Jamar Chaney, is still recovering from offseason neck surgery, but it's clear the Eagles are giving him an inside track on starting as a rookie. Chaney is not expected to participate in June's minicamp, but actually managed to get some work in on Tuesday. Chaney should be ready for camp.

No. 46 overall pick Mychal Kendricks is working as a SAM linebacker at Eagles rookie minicamp.

It's hardly a surprise since the Eagles' veterans are not present for this weekend's camp, but Kendricks is believed to have the "inside track" on Philadelphia's starting strong-side linebacker job over Jamar Chaney. Kendricks is a rookie to watch in IDP leagues.

Eagles signed No. 46 overall pick LB Mychal Kendricks to a four-year contract.

One of the draft's fastest linebackers, Kendricks is believed to be ticketed for the strong side in Philly after playing inside in Cal's 3-4 scheme last year. ESPN's Bill Polian called Kendricks "the best 4-3 attacking linebacker in the draft except for Luke Kuechly." The Eagles are high on his pass-rushing potential in addition to his ability to cover tight ends.

The Philadelphia Inquirer believes second-round pick LB Mychal Kendricks "seems to have the inside track" on the Eagles' starting strong-side linebacker job.

Early speculation ticketed Kendricks for the weak side, but beat writer Jeff McLane believes he's the favorite over Jamar Chaney at SAM. Per McLane, the Eagles "love" Kendricks' pass-rushing ability. McLane thinks Chaney would then "get a shot" on the weak side, but also that Casey Matthews might be given one more chance to establish himself as a starter. Either way, Kendricks should have a starting job come Week 1.

Eagles selected California LB Mychal Kendricks with the No. 46 overall pick in the 2012 draft.

The Pac 12 defensive player of the year in 2011, Kendricks lit up the Combine, posting linebacker-bests 4.47 in the 40, 39 1/2" in the vertical jump and 10 feet, seven inches in the broad jump. He's just 5-foot-11, but is capable of playing all three downs, acquitting himself well against the run while holding his own as a blitzer and in coverage. He's expected to compete at strong-side linebacker in camp, but will likely end up on the weak-side. Likened to Panthers MLB Jon Beason by Rotoworld draft guru Josh Norris, Kendricks could go a long way toward shoring up a linebacker corps that was one of the league's worst in 2011.

Sporting News draft analyst Russ Lande rates Cal LB Mychal Kendricks as a top-25 overall player in the draft and considers Kendricks "likely" to be a first-round pick.

Kendricks isn't commonly included in first-round mock drafts, but Rotoworld's Josh Norris calls him Jon Beason-esque, with better measurables. Kendricks was the 2011 Pac 12 Defensive Player of the Year, and absolutely shredded the Combine by leading all linebackers in the forty-yard dash, vertical jump, and broad jump. He certainly could sneak into the back end of round one.

Cal LB Mychal Kendricks led all linebackers at the Combine in the forty-yard dash (4.47, official), vertical jump (39 1/2"), and broad jump (10 feet, 7 inches).

Kendricks is an athletic specimen at 5-foot-11, 240 and has the production to back it up after earning Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year honors as a senior. While not known especially well in the media community, the thumping inside linebacker has some Jon Beason-ish traits. He could surprise as a second-round pick.
