Larry Donnell has yet to practice at Giants camp while battling Achilles' tendinitis.

Giants OC Ben McAdoo said Wednesday that Donnell is "not quite there yet." Donnell is out of his walking boot, but hasn't been cleared for full football activities. The Giants still don't seem concerned with Donnell's Week 1 status.

Larry Donnell has shed his walking boot after dealing with Achilles' tendinitis this spring.

He's resumed training in Alabama and is expected to be a full-go when the Giants open training camp this week. Per beat writer Jordan Raanan, Donnell's Achilles' injury stems from college, which may be concerning in that it has never gone away. In his first year as an NFL starter, Donnell ranked as the fantasy TE12, catching six touchdown passes but finishing the season slow.

Larry Donnell is dealing with Achilles' tendinitis in his left foot.

There was concern when Donnell was spotted in a walking boot Monday, but the Giants are nonplussed. Per coach Tom Coughlin, it's something Donnell has dealt with since college. Perhaps he'll miss some more practices over the next two months, but he should be ready to rock for training camp.

Larry Donnell was spotted with his left foot in a walking boot Monday.

It's a new injury for Donnell, who was watching OTAs from the sideline. We'll have more details once coach Tom Coughlin addresses the media. For now, there's no reason to believe Donnell is battling a serious issue.
Jun 1 - 12:19 PM

Larry Donnell focused on improving his blocking technique over the offseason.

Donnell came out of nowhere last season to solidify the Giants' tight end spot, flashing signs of dominance as a pass catcher in the red zone. But his blocking -- 63rd out of 67 qualifying TEs at PFF -- was a big weakness, leading to decreased playing time down the stretch. Donnell spent all offseason working on his hand placement in hopes of earning more snaps and being an every-down contributor.

Giants re-signed exclusive rights free agent TE Larry Donnell to a one-year, $585,000 contract.

He'll be a restricted free agent next spring. The Giants are reportedly super-high on Donnell for the future. He had a breakout 2014 in OC Ben McAdoo's quick-hitting passing game, posting a 63-623-6 receiving line. Going on age 27, Donnell would do well to improve on those stats in 2015 while battling Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle for complementary targets behind Odell Beckham.
Mar 4 - 3:38 PM

ESPN New York reports the Giants "really like" Larry Donnell and "believe he's in the midst of developing into a very good" tight end.

Donnell struggled down the stretch last season, averaging just three catches with one touchdown over his final eight games. He's viewed as the long-term option at tight end and should remain a red-zone threat in OC Ben McAdoo's scheme. Donnell is a good bet to improve on his 63/623/6 line.
Feb 14 - 6:14 PM

The Giants are almost certain to retain exclusive rights free agent Larry Donnell.

All the Giants have to do is tender Donnell for one year at $585,000 to keep him. They'll obviously do so for a player that established himself as a pass-catching weapon at the tight end spot, recording 63-623-6 in his first year as a starter. Donnell's fantasy outlook for 2015 won't be overly bright however, as Odell Beckham, Victor Cruz (if healthy) and Rueben Randle project to dominate targets.

Larry Donnell caught two passes for 26 yards in Sunday's Week 17 loss to the Eagles.

Donnell came from off the pace to win the Giants' camp battle for the starting tight end job. But he immediately flashed starting ability, going 5-56-1 in Week 1 and finishing his breakout second season with 63-623-6. The Giants reportedly see "LD" as their long-term option at tight end, which will put him on the back-end TE1 radar in 2015. Just realize he'll have to share targets with Odell Beckham, Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle.

The Giants expect Larry Donnell to take another big leap forward in 2015.

Per ESPN's Dan Graziano, the Giants believe in Donnell as a long-term starting tight end. They think he'll "develop into a dynamic player who is a huge part of Ben McAdoo's offense." Donnell got off to a torrid start to the season, scoring six touchdowns the first 11 weeks. But the past five games, Donnell has averaged just three catches for 32 yards per game with zero scores. With Victor Cruz returning to full health behind Odell Beckham in 2015, Donnell should be no higher than No. 3 in line for targets. He'll have to make his hay in the red zone.

Larry Donnell caught four passes for 42 yards in Sunday's Week 16 win at St. Louis.

Donnell didn't really get in on the party during a day in which Eli Manning threw for 391 yards and three scores. LD also missed out last week (2-11-0) when Manning went for 250 yards and three more touchdowns. Donnell, who hasn't scored since Week 11, wraps the season against the Eagles next week.

Larry Donnell had two catches for 11 yards in Week 15 against the Redskins.

They were his only targets of the game. Donnell hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 11 and is averaging just 34 receiving yards over that span. He'll be a touchdown-dependent TE2 against the Rams.

Larry Donnell caught four passes for 28 yards in the Giants' Week 14 win over the Titans.

Donnell was targeted seven times. Eli Manning tried to hit his tight end on a fade on third-and-goal from the one-yard line on the opening drive, but Donnell was easily pushed off his route. Donnell hasn't scored in three straight weeks and has settled in as a low-end TE1 with Odell Beckham dominating targets.

Larry Donnell caught five passes for 55 yards in Sunday's Week 13 loss to Jacksonville.

He also lost a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. Donnell was targeted seven times, behind only Odell Beckham. With the Giants down three starters on the offensive line, he was forced to stay in and pass protect. Donnell will remain a low-end TE1 against the Titans in Week 14.
