Larry Donnell caught 7-of-8 targets for 81 yards in the Giants' Week 2 loss to the Cardinals.
The Giants' leading receiver through two weeks, Donnell has 12 receptions for 137 yards and a touchdown on the young season. He'll be in the TE1 conversation when New York faces Houston in Week 3. Although Donnell runs 4.91, he is a more fluid mover than his forty time suggests and has emerged as Eli Manning's preferred over-the-middle safety blanket with Victor Cruz regressing. Giants TE Larry Donnell played on 52-of-60 snaps in Monday night's loss to the Lions.

The Giants held an open competition all offseason at the tight end spot. It took until Week 1 for us to get an answer, but we now know that Donnell is the guy. He's a slow-footed former UDFA, but the Giants' offensive line is so bad that Eli Manning will need to be dumping the ball quickly to his tight end. Donnell has a realistic shot at something like the 604 yards and four scores Jake Ballard had in 2011, or the 626 yards and five touchdowns Martellus Bennett had in 2012. Donnell will be a better bet this week than most as he gets to face an Arizona defense that is inept at covering the tight end.

Larry Donnell caught five passes for 56 yards and one touchdown in the Giants' Week 1 loss to the Lions on Monday night.

Donnell led the Giants in every receiving category and saw a team-high eight targets. Eli Manning has always loved throwing to his tight end, and Donnell appears to be the guy right now. But we're not rushing to the waiver wire for him by any means. Eli's timing is off with his receivers, so he's hitting Donnell for simple gains. Manning targeted Donnell on two end-zone fades, completing one for a one-yard score. Donnell is a back-end low-upside TE2.

Larry Donnell is listed as the first-team tight end on the Giants' new depth chart.

Donnell is followed by Daniel Fells and Adrien Robinson. Kellen Davis was released on Saturday. It's a fantasy black hole, as this trio will rotate and focus on blocking to help an offensive line laden with question marks.

Larry Donnell came off the bench behind Kellen Davis in Friday's preseason game, but spent time with the first-team offense.

Donnell had been "starting." The reality is, the Giants don't have a starter at tight end. Donnell has three catches for 26 yards through four preseason games. He's miles from fantasy relevance.

Larry Donnell remains the favorite to start at tight end Week 1.

It speaks to the Giants' state of the position. A former UDFA out of Grambling, Donnell can't run and has three career catches. Expect him to rotate with Daniel Fells, Kellen Davis and Adrien Robinson. It's a fantasy black hole.

Larry Donnell remained the Giants' starter at tight end for their second preseason game.

Donnell was targeted four times, catching two passes for 13 yards. Donnell is clearly the favorite to start at what's turning out to be a black-hole position for the G-Men. A Jake Ballard-like runner (4.91), Donnell has no fantasy value.
Aug 9 - 9:23 PM

Giants TE Larry Donnell got the start in New York's Hall of Fame game against the Bills on Sunday night.

Donnell, who runs like a dad (4.91), shared time with Daniel Fells and caught one pass for 13 yards, while Fells secured his lone look for a gain of 10. Adrien Robinson was nowhere to be found with the first-team offense. We'd strongly recommend avoiding all G-Men tight ends in fantasy football leagues this year.

ESPN New York's Dan Graziano confirms Larry Donnell "seems to have emerged" as the most likely candidate for the Giants' starting tight end job.

Donnell was limited to special teams his first two seasons, but opened camp as the No. 1 tight end. Graziano believes the Giants "really, really like Donnell" and "don't have any clearly superior options." The Giants' tight end situation is almost certainly going to be a committee. Adrien Robinson has the most pass-game upside and will continue to push Donnell, with Daniel Fells also in the mix.
