Larry Donnell caught seven passes for 90 yards in Sunday's loss at Dallas.
Donnell bounced back after two quiet games by flashing the sizable athleticism we know he has up the seam. But he lost two fourth-quarter fumbles, errors that will cause him to feel pain at the hands of Tom Coughlin. Donnell is just a borderline TE1 heading into the bye. Oct 19 - 7:51 PM

Larry Donnell said replacing Victor Cruz is going to be a "team effort."

Donnell was held without a catch in Week 5 by a Falcons defense that gameplanned to stop him. He then went 1-6-0 against the Eagles as the Giants were humiliated on Sunday Night Football. But with Cruz out and a nice bounce-back spot for the G-Men on tap, Donnell remains on the TE1 radar. Dallas is giving up the third-most points to fantasy tight ends this season.

Larry Donnell caught one pass for six yards in Sunday night's Week 6 loss to the Eagles.

With the Giants offensive line struggling, Donnell was forced to help in pass protection. He had a touchdown called back on a holding penalty, but drew just two targets. Donnell should take on a bigger role with Victor Cruz out for the season. He'll be on the TE1 borderline in Week 7 against a Cowboys defense that struggles to cover tight ends.
Oct 13 - 1:26 AM

Larry Donnell confirmed that the Falcons paid extra attention to him during Sunday's win.

In the span of one month, Donnell has gone from a literal unknown to a focal point of the defense. He ended up with zero catches on one target, but his presence allowed another efficient day for Eli Manning. "They were knocking me around pretty good on my release and things like that," Donnell said. "They weren't letting me come off the ball. They were trying to knock me around a little bit. It was expected." The pendulum will swing back to Donnell quickly as he gets to face the Eagles in Week 6. He'll be hoping Mychal Kendricks (calf) remains sidelined.
Oct 6 - 8:13 AM

Larry Donnell finished Week 5 with zero catches on one target.

If there was one player on the Giants' offense Falcons DC Mike Nolan wasn't going to let beat him, it was Donnell. Nolan's defense played Donnell physically at the line of scrimmage, particularly in the red zone, where Rueben Randle and Odell Beckham were given more openings. Donnell owners shouldn't be fazed. He'll continue to be a locked-in TE1 in Week 6 against Philadelphia.
Oct 5 - 4:37 PM

Larry Donnell caught 7-of-8 targets for 54 yards and three touchdowns in the Giants' Week 4 dismantling of the Redskins.

The 6-foot-6, 265-pound Donnell was taking names in the red zone, boxing out and skying for touchdowns. Three-score nights are always fluky, especially for third-year undrafted free agent tight ends, but there's nothing fluky about Donnell's emergence as a chain mover and end-zone target for Eli Manning. He's a massive human being, one with strong hands and decent movement skills for his size. Donnell should settle in as a back-end TE1, but he's clearly not a fantasy fad.
Sep 25 - 11:51 PM

Larry Donnell caught six passes for 45 yards in the Giants' Week 3 win over the Texans.

Donnell caught all six passes that came his way, and has now been targeted 22 times on the season. Donnell was on his way to the end zone in the first half, but ended up losing a fumble at the four-yard line. He's put himself in the TE1/2 mix as a favorite of Eli Manning. Donnell gets the Redskins on Thursday night.
Sep 21 - 5:50 PM

Larry Donnell caught 7-of-8 targets for 81 yards in the Giants' Week 2 loss to the Cardinals.

The Giants' leading receiver through two weeks, Donnell has 12 receptions for 137 yards and a touchdown on the young season. He'll be in the TE1 conversation when New York faces Houston in Week 3. Although Donnell runs 4.91, he is a more fluid mover than his forty time suggests and has emerged as Eli Manning's preferred over-the-middle safety blanket with Victor Cruz regressing.
Sep 14 - 4:09 PM

Giants TE Larry Donnell played on 52-of-60 snaps in Monday night's loss to the Lions.

The Giants held an open competition all offseason at the tight end spot. It took until Week 1 for us to get an answer, but we now know that Donnell is the guy. He's a slow-footed former UDFA, but the Giants' offensive line is so bad that Eli Manning will need to be dumping the ball quickly to his tight end. Donnell has a realistic shot at something like the 604 yards and four scores Jake Ballard had in 2011, or the 626 yards and five touchdowns Martellus Bennett had in 2012. Donnell will be a better bet this week than most as he gets to face an Arizona defense that is inept at covering the tight end.

Sep 9 - 9:37 AM

Larry Donnell caught five passes for 56 yards and one touchdown in the Giants' Week 1 loss to the Lions on Monday night.

Donnell led the Giants in every receiving category and saw a team-high eight targets. Eli Manning has always loved throwing to his tight end, and Donnell appears to be the guy right now. But we're not rushing to the waiver wire for him by any means. Eli's timing is off with his receivers, so he's hitting Donnell for simple gains. Manning targeted Donnell on two end-zone fades, completing one for a one-yard score. Donnell is a back-end low-upside TE2.
Sep 8 - 11:00 PM

Larry Donnell is listed as the first-team tight end on the Giants' new depth chart.

Donnell is followed by Daniel Fells and Adrien Robinson. Kellen Davis was released on Saturday. It's a fantasy black hole, as this trio will rotate and focus on blocking to help an offensive line laden with question marks.

Sep 1 - 10:51 AM

Larry Donnell came off the bench behind Kellen Davis in Friday's preseason game, but spent time with the first-team offense.

Donnell had been "starting." The reality is, the Giants don't have a starter at tight end. Donnell has three catches for 26 yards through four preseason games. He's miles from fantasy relevance.
Aug 22 - 11:05 PM

Larry Donnell remains the favorite to start at tight end Week 1.

It speaks to the Giants' state of the position. A former UDFA out of Grambling, Donnell can't run and has three career catches. Expect him to rotate with Daniel Fells, Kellen Davis and Adrien Robinson. It's a fantasy black hole.

Aug 21 - 11:27 AM

Larry Donnell remained the Giants' starter at tight end for their second preseason game.

Donnell was targeted four times, catching two passes for 13 yards. Donnell is clearly the favorite to start at what's turning out to be a black-hole position for the G-Men. A Jake Ballard-like runner (4.91), Donnell has no fantasy value.
Aug 9 - 9:23 PM

Giants TE Larry Donnell got the start in New York's Hall of Fame game against the Bills on Sunday night.

Donnell, who runs like a dad (4.91), shared time with Daniel Fells and caught one pass for 13 yards, while Fells secured his lone look for a gain of 10. Adrien Robinson was nowhere to be found with the first-team offense. We'd strongly recommend avoiding all G-Men tight ends in fantasy football leagues this year.
