Giants re-signed exclusive rights free agent TE Larry Donnell to a one-year, $585,000 contract.
He'll be a restricted free agent next spring. The Giants are reportedly super-high on Donnell for the future. He had a breakout 2014 in OC Ben McAdoo's quick-hitting passing game, posting a 63-623-6 receiving line. Going on age 27, Donnell would do well to improve on those stats in 2015 while battling Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle for complementary targets behind Odell Beckham. Mar 4 - 3:38 PM

ESPN New York reports the Giants "really like" Larry Donnell and "believe he's in the midst of developing into a very good" tight end.

Donnell struggled down the stretch last season, averaging just three catches with one touchdown over his final eight games. He's viewed as the long-term option at tight end and should remain a red-zone threat in OC Ben McAdoo's scheme. Donnell is a good bet to improve on his 63/623/6 line.

The Giants are almost certain to retain exclusive rights free agent Larry Donnell.

All the Giants have to do is tender Donnell for one year at $585,000 to keep him. They'll obviously do so for a player that established himself as a pass-catching weapon at the tight end spot, recording 63-623-6 in his first year as a starter. Donnell's fantasy outlook for 2015 won't be overly bright however, as Odell Beckham, Victor Cruz (if healthy) and Rueben Randle project to dominate targets.

Larry Donnell caught two passes for 26 yards in Sunday's Week 17 loss to the Eagles.

Donnell came from off the pace to win the Giants' camp battle for the starting tight end job. But he immediately flashed starting ability, going 5-56-1 in Week 1 and finishing his breakout second season with 63-623-6. The Giants reportedly see "LD" as their long-term option at tight end, which will put him on the back-end TE1 radar in 2015. Just realize he'll have to share targets with Odell Beckham, Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle.

The Giants expect Larry Donnell to take another big leap forward in 2015.

Per ESPN's Dan Graziano, the Giants believe in Donnell as a long-term starting tight end. They think he'll "develop into a dynamic player who is a huge part of Ben McAdoo's offense." Donnell got off to a torrid start to the season, scoring six touchdowns the first 11 weeks. But the past five games, Donnell has averaged just three catches for 32 yards per game with zero scores. With Victor Cruz returning to full health behind Odell Beckham in 2015, Donnell should be no higher than No. 3 in line for targets. He'll have to make his hay in the red zone.

Larry Donnell caught four passes for 42 yards in Sunday's Week 16 win at St. Louis.

Donnell didn't really get in on the party during a day in which Eli Manning threw for 391 yards and three scores. LD also missed out last week (2-11-0) when Manning went for 250 yards and three more touchdowns. Donnell, who hasn't scored since Week 11, wraps the season against the Eagles next week.

Larry Donnell had two catches for 11 yards in Week 15 against the Redskins.

They were his only targets of the game. Donnell hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 11 and is averaging just 34 receiving yards over that span. He'll be a touchdown-dependent TE2 against the Rams.

Larry Donnell caught four passes for 28 yards in the Giants' Week 14 win over the Titans.

Donnell was targeted seven times. Eli Manning tried to hit his tight end on a fade on third-and-goal from the one-yard line on the opening drive, but Donnell was easily pushed off his route. Donnell hasn't scored in three straight weeks and has settled in as a low-end TE1 with Odell Beckham dominating targets.

Larry Donnell caught five passes for 55 yards in Sunday's Week 13 loss to Jacksonville.

He also lost a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. Donnell was targeted seven times, behind only Odell Beckham. With the Giants down three starters on the offensive line, he was forced to stay in and pass protect. Donnell will remain a low-end TE1 against the Titans in Week 14.

Larry Donnell caught two passes for 24 yards in Sunday night's Week 12 loss to the Cowboys.

He was targeted just four times. Donnell lost a goal-line touchdown to backup TE Adrien Robinson in the fourth quarter. It's a disappointing game against a Cowboys defense that's struggled to cover tight ends. Donnell will remain a low-end TE1 against Jacksonville in Week 13.

Larry Donnell caught three passes for 54 yards with a touchdowns in Sunday's Week 12 loss to the 49ers.

Donnell's touchdown was creative as he lined up in the fullback spot, Eli Manning play-faked to Rashad Jennings and then hit LD up the seam for a 19-yard touchdown. He almost had another touchdown late in the game as he was targeted on a crucial third-down goal-line fade that just barely fell incomplete. With 11 catches and two touchdowns in his last three games, Donnell will be a low-end TE1 against the Cowboys in Week 12.

Larry Donnell caught four passes for 26 yards in Sunday's Week 10 loss at Seattle.

Donnell was targeted six times on the day, typically on secondary reads from Eli Manning. It's a bit disappointing as tight end is one position that has been giving the Legion of Boom problems in the pass game all year. Donnell won't be usable in Week 10 if Patrick Willis (toe) plays. But if Willis sits, we'd roll LD out as a tight end still playing almost all the snaps and seeing volume (21 targets last three weeks).

Larry Donnell caught four passes for 25 yards and one touchdown in the Giants' Week 9 loss to the Colts.

Donnell was targeted eight times, but had one pass bounce off his hands early, though it was a bit high from Eli Manning. Donnell got into the end zone late in the blowout loss, beating Mike Adams on a fade to the back pylon for the five-yard score. At the season's midway point, Donnell is on pace for a 74-714-10 line on 96 targets. He's a borderline TE1 who gets the Seahawks next.

Larry Donnell caught seven passes for 90 yards in Sunday's loss at Dallas.

Donnell bounced back after two quiet games by flashing the sizable athleticism we know he has up the seam. But he lost two fourth-quarter fumbles, errors that will cause him to feel pain at the hands of Tom Coughlin. Donnell is just a borderline TE1 heading into the bye.
Sun, Oct 19, 2014 07:51:00 PM

Larry Donnell said replacing Victor Cruz is going to be a "team effort."

Donnell was held without a catch in Week 5 by a Falcons defense that gameplanned to stop him. He then went 1-6-0 against the Eagles as the Giants were humiliated on Sunday Night Football. But with Cruz out and a nice bounce-back spot for the G-Men on tap, Donnell remains on the TE1 radar. Dallas is giving up the third-most points to fantasy tight ends this season.
