Browns signed RG Kevin Zeitler, formerly of the Bengals, to a five-year, $60 million contract with $31.5 million guaranteed.
Armed with over $100 million in cap space at the start of free agency, the Browns are putting that money to good use. So far they've added Zeitler and J.C. Tretter to an offensive line already featuring Joel Bitonio (who just signed a five-year extension) and future Hall of Famer Joe Thomas. Whoever the Browns decide to play at quarterback this year will be well-protected. This deal makes Zeitler the highest-paid guard in football. Mar 9 - 2:48 PM

The New Orleans Times-Picayune's Herbie Teope reports the Saints are interested in free agent RG Kevin Zeitler.

Much like RT Rick Wagner did with the right-tackle market on Wednesday, Zeitler is expected to reset the right-guard market on Thursday. He's fully expected to land $10 million-plus annually, and plenty of teams have interest, including the Browns, Jaguars, and Colts. Zeitler would be a much younger upgrade on longtime Saints RG Jahri Evans, 33, who is also a free agent.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Colts, Jaguars, and Browns are "in on" free agent RG Kevin Zeitler.

All three teams need big-time offensive line help, and all three are flush with cap space. It could turn into a massive bidding war and make Zeitler the league's highest-paid right guard at more than $10 million per year.
Mar 8 - 11:06 AM

According to Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline, free agent RG Kevin Zeitler is expected to sign a deal "close to $10 million per year, if not slightly over that amount."

Steelers RG David DeCastro and Bears RG Kyle Long both make $10 million per year as the league's two highest-paid right guards. With the inflation of the salary cap and Zeitler already one of the best guards in the game, he could easily top $10 million per year. Pauline hears the Bengals aren't prepared to go that high for Zeitler. Zeitler is arguably the top offensive lineman available.

ESPN Bengals reporter Katherine Terrell doesn't expect Cincinnati to use its franchise tag this year.

The Bengals have a number of key free agents, including RG Kevin Zeitler, LT/LG Andrew Whitworth, and CB Dre Kirkpatrick, but penny-pinching owner Mike Brown probably doesn't want to guarantee any of them top-of-the-market money. Zeitler would make the most sense as a soon-to-be 27-year-old player on the rise. But word out of Cincinnati is Zeitler is expected to reach the market.
Feb 13 - 10:33 AM

The Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner "continue(s) to feel confident" the Bengals will not retain free agent RG Kevin Zeitler.

Based on what he's heard, Dehner expects the Bengals to prioritize re-signing free agent LT/LG Andrew Whitworth and let Zeitler walk. It's a curious approach -- to be kind -- considering Whitworth is in steep decline at age 35 while 27-year-old (in March) Zeitler is one of the best young guards in football. Dehner believes there's only a "30 percent chance" Zeitler returns to Cincinnati. Zeitler is Rotoworld's No. 1-rated free agent interior offensive lineman.
Feb 9 - 10:31 AM

The Bengals have yet to open talks with free agent RG Kevin Zeitler.

Zeitler played out this season on an $8 million fifth-year option. He remained one of the top guards in the league, getting named a Pro Bowl alternate. With LT Andrew Whitworth also a free agent, Zeitler isn't a lock to be re-signed. Zeitler should push for David DeCastro money (5 years, $50 million).

The Bengals have stopped negotiating with contract-year RG Kevin Zeitler.

Owed $8.01 million in the final year of his rookie deal, Zeitler is now in position to cash in big time as a free agent next offseason. Although the Bengals have become one of the league's top drafting teams, they are not one of the best at keeping their own. Zeitler was a top-ten guard at Pro Football Focus last year.

Bengals exercised their fifth-year option on RG Kevin Zeitler.

It's a no-brainer for the Bengals as Zeitler has been a steady starter for three straight years and was a top-9 guard in PFF's 2014 grades. The option, guaranteed for injury only, will be worth a little more than $8 million. They'll likely get that number down in the form of an extension before the 2016 league year opens.

Bengals RG Kevin Zeitler was forced from Cincinnati's Week 2 game against the Falcons with a calf injury.

Zeitler was officially ruled out in the fourth quarter. It's possible he could have returned were the Bengals not throttling the Falcons, but that's pure speculation. His status will be updated this week.

Bengals RG Kevin Zeitler will return from his foot injury in Week 14 against the Colts.

It's good news for the Cincinnati running game. The 27th overall pick in the 2012 draft, Zeitler has been sidelined since Week 10. Pro Football Focus has graded Zeitler as a top-13 run-blocking guard this season.

Bengals RG Kevin Zeitler exited Sunday's Week 4 game against Cleveland with a foot injury, but returned in the third quarter.

The Bengals did a major O-Line shuffle to compensate, kicking LT Andrew Whitworth inside to left guard with LG Clint Boling sliding over to right guard. Anthony Collins became Cincinnati's first-team left tackle. Zeitler returned on the Bengals' second possession of the third quarter.
Sun, Sep 29, 2013 02:42:00 PM

Bengals signed No. 27 overall pick RG Kevin Zeitler to a four-year contract.

Viewed by NFL Films guru Greg Cosell as a more athletic and more complete guard prospect than Steelers first-rounder David DeCastro, Zeitler immediately stepped into the starting lineup at right guard in OTAs. A mauling run blocker, Zeitler should represent an upgrade on the declining Bobby Williams.

No. 21 pick OG Kevin Zeitler is working as the Bengals' first-team right guard at OTAs.

Coach Marvin Lewis previously said Zeitler will be given the "opportunity" to earn a starting job, but the odds are being stacked heavily in his favor. Barring an unexpectedly poor preseason, Zeitler will be Cincinnati's starting right guard.

The Bengals say they would have taken RG Kevin Zeitler at No. 21, even without trading down to the 27th spot.

In the process of trading down, Cincy acquired a third-round pick that turned out to be highly regarded DT Brandon Thompson. Teams aren't always 100 percent honest about draft boards and intentions after the draft -- they're more concerned with PR -- but it sure seems like a good deal if the Bengals are being honest. It also sounds like they had a higher grade on Zeitler than David DeCastro.
