Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said MLB Bobby Wagner (pectoral) could have played Week 6 against the Panthers.

The Seahawks sat Wagner to get him ready for Thursday night against the 49ers. He is not a lock to play on Thursday, but the fact that he could have played is a good sign for his availability. Wagner should be on the good side of questionable for Week 7.

Seahawks declared MLB Bobby Wagner, DE Frank Clark, MLB Brock Coyle, DT Jordan Hill, LB Nick Moody and CB Tye Smith inactive for Week 6 against the Panthers.

Wagner is sitting out with a strained pectoral. His return to practice Friday suggests he could be back against the 49ers on Thursday night. Marshawn Lynch (hamstring) and Demarcus Dobbs (shoulder) are both active for the Seahawks.

Seahawks MLB Bobby Wagner (pectorals) is not expected to play Sunday against the Panthers.

Wagner is a critical piece in Seattle's run defense, so his absence slightly upgrades Jonathan Stewart's Week 6 matchup. The Panthers still seem unlikely to generate consistent rushing offense at CenturyLink Field.

Seahawks MLB Bobby Wagner (pectoral) is questionable for Week 6 against the Panthers.

Wagner got in a limited practice on Friday and will be a game-time decision. With the Seahawks playing on Thursday next week, they may decide to rest him. Wagner has 41 combined tackles and a fumble recovery touchdown this season.

Seahawks signed MLB Bobby Wagner to a four-year, $43 million extension through 2019.

With so much money now committed to players at the top of their roster, GM John Schneider is going to have to stay hot in upcoming drafts. Wagner was entering a contract year, and might have been a franchise-tag candidate in 2016. The 25-year-old is a three-down Mike 'backer with 100-plus tackles in three straight seasons. Despite missing five games in which he was unable to compile plus grades, Wagner earned a top-five rating from Pro Football Focus among inside linebackers in 2014. He also has nine career sacks and five interceptions.

NFL Network's Rand Getlin reports the Seahawks have been working toward a new deal with MLB Bobby Wagner.

With little progress in Russell Wilson's contract talks, the Seahawks have turned their attention to Wagner. A top-15 inside linebacker at PFF the last three seasons, Wagner is seeking $10 million annually. Seattle could have a deal in place for Wagner before training camp

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports Seahawks MLB Bobby Wagner is seeking "in the range of" $10 million per year on a contract extension.

Ten million annually would make Wagner the league's highest-paid inside linebacker. He deserves it. And according to La Canfora, the Seahawks see him worthy of that kind of money and the deal could come together "quick." Wagner has missed seven starts the past two seasons, but has been dominant when on the field, excelling across the board in run defense and coverage.

The Seahawks have opened contract discussions with MLB Bobby Wagner.

With Russell Wilson's contract talks stalled, the Seahawks have decided to reach out to Wagner instead. If Seattle can lock Wagner into a long-term deal, the team could buy more time with Wilson by assigning him the franchise tag. Wagner finished fifth out of 60 qualified inside linebackers in PFF's 2014 grades.

Seahawks contract-year MLB Bobby Wagner is hoping to get a deal done "soon."

Seattle wants to extend Wagner before the season, but talks have been delayed due to Russell Wilson’s deal. With Seattle reportedly willing to use the franchise tag on Wilson, Wagner could end up getting extended by training camp. An All-Pro in 2014, Wagner should command in the range of $8M annually.

ESPN's John Clayton expects MLB Bobby Wagner to command at least $8 million annually on his next contract.

Seattle wants to extend Wagner in the final year of his rookie deal. An All-Pro in 2014, Wagner has graded as a top-15 inside linebacker by PFF the last three seasons. The Seahawks will likely wait until after Russell Wilson's contract before turning their attention to Wagner.

The Seahawks want to do a contract extension with MLB Bobby Wagner.

Wagner is entering the final year of his rookie contract. He'll have to wait until Russell Wilson's extension gets done before the team turns their attention elsewhere, but Wagner has certainly earned a new deal. He's started 40 games over the last three seasons, dominating against the run and finishing in the top-two of PFF's ILB grades twice.

Seahawks MLB Bobby Wagner (toe) will play in Week 12 against Arizona.

It's a huge boost to a Seattle defense that has battled myriad injuries this season. It's also bad news for Andre Ellington's Week 12 fantasy matchup.

Coach Pete Carroll said MLB Bobby Wagner (toe) could return for Week 12.

Wagner has resumed running and doing some lateral cutting after going down in Week 6. With run-stuffing DT Brandon Mebane (hamstring) done for the year, getting Wagner back will be welcomed.
