Broncos LE Derek Wolfe (neck) didn't practice on Thursday.

He suffered the injury in last week's win over Carolina. Wolfe hopes to suit up Sunday against the Colts but that seems unlikely unless he returns to at least a limited practice on Friday. If Wolfe sits, Billy Winn would likely draw the start in his place.

Broncos LE Derek Wolfe exited the season opener with a neck injury.

He is officially questionable to return. After losing Malik Jackson in free agency, the Broncos need Wolfe to stay healthy.

Broncos spokesperson Patrick Smyth said the Broncos are aware of the situation involving LE Derek Wolfe and are handling it "internally."

"Derek talked to us on Monday about the issue," Smyth said, "and it’s been addressed internally." A video purportedly shows Wolfe throwing a punch during a fracas at a Denver-area nightclub on April 2. It is not clear in the video if the punch landed, and TMZ reports police were not called to the scene. Denver Police said they will not pursue a case unless someone files a complaint or new evidence is presented, and NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy said the incident "doesn’t appear on its face to be something that would lead to league discipline." It sounds like Wolfe will be able to quickly put this situation behind him.

TMZ Sports released a video reportedly showing Broncos LE Derek Wolfe throwing a punch during a fight at a Denver-area nightclub on April 2.

The video shows a person TMZ claims is Wolfe throwing a haymaker during the altercation. TMZ reports Wolfe was hit in the face with a glass bottle and "left the club bloodied." Police were not called to the scene. It is unlikely Wolfe faces any legal ramifications from the incident. Wolfe signed a four-year, $36.7 million extension in January.

Broncos signed LE Derek Wolfe to a four-year, $36.7 million extension.

That keeps Wolfe in Denver through 2019. The deal comes with $17.5 million guaranteed. Wolfe missed the Broncos' first four games on a PED suspension but went on to have a breakout season with 49 tackles and 5.5 sacks. He was the AFC's Defensive Player of the Week for Week 8 and earned PFF's 10th-highest grade among 3-4 defensive ends. Wolfe turns 26 next month. He's essentially Denver's poor man's version of J.J. Watt.
Jan 15 - 4:18 PM

Broncos LE Derek Wolfe has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 8.

Wolfe returned from his suspension in Week 5 and has been flat-out dominant in run defense. He was extremely disruptive in Sunday night's win over the Packers, being credited with seven tackles and five stops against the run.

Broncos activated LE Derek Wolfe from suspension.

Wolfe will return Sunday against Oakland. He’ll start opposite Malik Jackson, with Antonio Smith playing in sub packages. Wolfe should give Denver a run-stopping upgrade on early downs.

Suspended Broncos LE Derek Wolfe is week to week with a concussion.

Wolfe was carted off the field in Thursday's practice. It's scary news for a player who has a history of seizures. Suspended for Weeks 1-4, it now sounds like Wolfe could miss a big chunk of training camp.

NFL suspended LE Derek Wolfe four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Wolfe took a substance and was "genuinely unaware" that the league prohibited it. In June, it was reported Wolfe had bulked up to 290 pounds after dipping below 260 last season while recovering from a series of scary seizures. Wolfe will be eligible for return in Week 5. His loss is a slight blow to what should still be a strong Denver run defense.

Broncos LE Derek Wolfe has bulked up to 290 pounds after dipping below 260 last season while recovering from seizures.

Wolfe's second NFL season was ended by the seizure scare last November. Wolfe has 10 sacks through 27 games, but will have to fend off Malik Jackson for starting snaps this year. The Broncos are as deep as any team in the league up front with DeMarcus Ware, Quanterus Smith, and a healthy Wolfe joining Von Miller, Jackson, Terrance Knighton, Sylvester Williams, and Kevin Vickerson.

Broncos LE Derek Wolfe (seizure) said he feels "better than I've ever felt."

"In my whole life I’ve never felt this good," Wolfe said. "It just shows I needed that rest. The body needed to heal. I have no pain in my neck. No doubt in my mind that I’m going to be better than I ever was." Wolfe looked like a poor man's J.J. Watt as a 2012 rookie before falling off in 2013. He should enter the season as the starting left end opposite DeMarcus Ware on the right side.

Broncos LE Derek Wolfe declared himself fully recovered from last November's seizure, which ended Wolfe's second NFL season prematurely.

The seizure was brought on by a spinal cord bruise. Wolfe wound up losing 30 pounds, but has since regained 20 and is back near his playing weight of 285-290. "I'm ready to go. I'm going to be better than I was," he said. Wolfe had an outstanding rookie season before taking a step back when healthy as a sophomore. He's likely to enter 2014 as Denver's starting left defensive end.

Broncos LE Derek Wolfe says, in hindsight, he tried to return too quickly from his preseason spinal-cord injury, which caused his nervous system to shut down in November.

Wolfe had to be removed from the team bus ahead of a Week 13 trip to Kansas City after he suffered seizure-like symptoms. He didn't play another down afterward and was placed on I.R. during the playoffs. "My nervous system started shutting down," Wolfe said. "Terrance Knighton started yelling, 'Stop the bus. Stop the bus.'" It's a scary situation, but Wolfe insists he's feeling much better. The Broncos will be cautious with Wolfe, whose status is up in the air for OTAs.
