Texans RG Jeff Allen lost 21 pounds this offseason.
Signed to a four-year, $28-million contract in 2016, Allen's first season in Houston was one to forget. Texans RG Jeff Allen (concussion) was ruled out for Week 6 against the Colts.

Allen exited last week's game with a concussion, and he was unable to get cleared in time for this game. With RT Derek Newton (ankle) questionable, Houston's struggles on the offensive line look set to continue.

Texans signed G/T Jeff Allen, formerly of the Chiefs, to a four-year, $28 million contract.

Allen can play tackle, but he will likely play guard in Houston after Brandon Brooks bolted in free agency. With Brock Osweiler and Lamar Miller also coming to town, the Texans are completely remaking their offense. Allen should play a pivotal role in that transformation.

FOX Sports' Alex Marvez reports the Bears and Falcons are "heavily pursuing" free agent G/T Jeff Allen.

Allen is the poor man's version of Kelechi Osemele as someone capable of playing both guard and tackle. Unlike Osemele, however, Allen probably isn't an option at left tackle, and that will keep his price within reason.

Eagles VP of football operations Howie Roseman said fixing the offensive line is "a priority, period."

"It's a priority today. It's a priority tomorrow. It's a priority next week. It's a priority in April. It's going to be a priority," Roseman said. "Every day we're looking for offensive linemen." One offensive lineman the Eagles could be looking at is impending free agent LG Jeff Allen, who played for new coach Doug Pederson in Kansas City. Philadelphia needs to replace both guard spots this offseason.

The Chiefs believe RT Jeff Allen only has an MCL sprain.

An MCL sprain is a multiple-week injury, but it's better than a ligament tear, which might have cost Allen a big chunk of the season. Still, we likely won't see him for the rest of the preseason. Allen has worked at both right guard and right tackle in camp, but seemed to be settling in at tackle.

Chiefs RT Jeff Allen suffered a knee injury in Saturday's preseason opener.

The Chiefs immediately ruled Allen out for the game, suggesting he's dealing with a serious injury. He played with the first team prior to going down. Donald Stephenson replaced Allen at right tackle.

Chiefs OL Jeff Allen (elbow surgery) is 100 percent healthy.

"I feel good. I have no restrictions," Allen said. Allen went down in Week 1 last season, and was placed on injured reserve. Allen has experience all over the line, starting 16 games at left guard in 2013. Ben Grubbs is now at left guard, while Paul Fanaika should have a leg up on the right side. Allen will most likely battle Donald Stephenson to start at right tackle.

Chiefs placed LG Jeff Allen (elbow surgery) on injured reserve, ending his season.

We're not even sure who will replace Allen at this point, the Chiefs' offensive line is such a mess. Donald Stephenson will retake the right tackle job when he returns after a four-game suspension. He's got three games left.

Chiefs LG Jeff Allen needs elbow surgery and is likely done for the season.

Allen wasn't a strong blocker in the first place, but it's yet another blow to a Kansas City offensive line that's being ransacked by injuries, suspensions, and ineffective on-field performance. Allen actually started at right tackle in Week 1, in place of suspended RT Donald Stephenson. The Chiefs' guards are journeyman Mike McGlynn and sixth-round rookie Zach Fulton.

Chiefs LG Jeff Allen and RT Donald Stephenson worked with ex-NFL C LeCharles Bentley during the offseason.

A two-time Pro Bowler as a player with the Saints and Browns, Bentley now runs an offensive lineman performance academy. Allen is coming off a down season, and Stephenson is stepping into the starting lineup after mostly being the Chiefs' swing tackle in 2013. Kansas City's line is experiencing turnover.

Chiefs LG Jeff Allen was forced from Thursday's game against the Eagles with a right groin injury, and is doubtful to return.

Allen departed in the fourth quarter, and is almost certainly done for the night. He's been replaced by Geoff Schwartz.
