Speaking at Texans OTAs Monday, coach Gary Kubiak described WR DeVier Posey's Achilles' rehab as "ahead of schedule."
Kubiak did admit Posey is a candidate to open the season on PUP, although that decision will be made at a much later date. A 2012 third-rounder out of Ohio State, Posey will not be counted on for 2013 impact after a slow rookie year. May 20 - 3:17 PM

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Texans expect WR DeVier Posey (Achilles) to begin the season on the reserve/PUP list.

It means Posey will miss at least the first six games. It was almost certainly a factor in the Texans taking Clemson WR DeAndre Hopkins with the No. 27 pick, though they had a major need at wideout regardless of Posey's health. At this stage, Posey is little more than Dynasty league sleeper for fantasy purposes.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak says WR DeVier Posey (Achilles) could "possibly (be) a middle of the season player."

"He's doing well," Kubiak said Tuesday. Posey went down in Houston's Divisional Round loss, and underwent surgery on January 19. Right now, he's a candidate for the PUP list, but it's possible he'll be placed on injured reserve before Week 1 depending on how his rehab is going. Posey can't be counted on to contribute in fantasy leagues this season.

In addition to an Achilles' tear, Texans WR DeVier Posey is recovering from a fractured hand.

"He had a little fracture, he got that taken care of," GM Rick Smith revealed. As to Posey's Achilles' recovery -- a far bigger concern than the hand -- Smith stated, "It’s typically an 8-9 month, and don’t quote me on this, rehab process for him, typically speaking. I don’t know where he is or how that works."

Texans WR DeVier Posey underwent surgery for his torn Achilles' tendon on January 19.

Posey says the injury happened as he was running down field, then the tendon snapped as he was trying to stop and come back on a route. He called the injury "a blessing in disguise" because he won't have to miss any "official" games. That means Posey is planning on being ready for Week 1, but we'd say his chances of even being much of a factor in 2013 are slim.
Jan 31 - 6:52 PM

Speaking at Monday's season-ending presser, Texans coach Gary Kubiak said he doesn't have a timetable for WR DeVier Posey's (Achilles) recovery.

Kubiak also said Posey had put himself in position to challenge for a starting job in 2013 before going down. That's unlikely to be the case now, however, as Posey is facing long odds of being ready for Week 1. As Demaryius Thomas and others have proven, a torn Achilles is no longer a career-jeopardizing injury for younger players, but Posey is unlikely to be a big contributor in 2013. He will undergo surgery on Friday.

Texans rookie receiver DeVier Posey suffered a torn Achilles' tendon in Sunday's season-ending loss at New England.

It's a tough break for the third-round rookie who was eating into Kevin Walter's playing time opposite Andre Johnson. After undergoing surgery, Posey will be a long shot to enter camp at close to full health. His second season could be a wash, which puts wide receiver near the top of the Texans' offseason wish list.
Jan 13 - 8:23 PM

Texans WR DeVier Posey was carted off the field late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's Divisional round game versus the Patriots with an apparent lower leg injury.

The rookie is obviously done for the final five minutes with the Texans down 10 points. Posey had just hauled in a 25-yard circus catch for a touchdown the series before the injury occurred. Houston's third receiver finished the game with three catches for 47 yards and the score. Provided the injury isn't a long-term concern, Posey is a good bet to overtake Kevin Walter for the No. 2 job in 2013.
Jan 13 - 7:45 PM

DeVier Posey had one catch for 16 yards in Sunday's loss to the Colts.

Posey shared No. 2 receiver duties with Kevin Walter, but struggled to get separation and was shutdown by the Colts' secondary. After being inactive for the first four weeks, he'll finish an underwhelming rookie season with just six receptions and 87 yards in 11 games. The Texans' lack of a legitimate receiver behind Andre Johnson is a concern going into the postseason.

Texans rookie WR DeVier Posey shared No. 2 wideout duties with Kevin Walter in Sunday's win over the Colts.

The Texans are finally realizing that if Walter isn't blocking for a running back, he's hurting the team. Posey ended up with three catches for 46 yards on three targets while Walter had two catches for 11 yards on two targets. "What has taken place over the period of the last month is a young player who has really stepped up, so we're going to give him more opportunities to help us," coach Gary Kubiak said.

Texans declared WR DeVier Posey, QB John Beck, CB Roc Carmichael, CB Brandon Harris, LB Bryan Braman, T Andrew Gardner and G Brandon Brooks inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.

The Texans come in as one of the healthiest teams in the league. Arian Foster's knee and flu bug are of no concern whatsoever. Third-round rookie Posey has been a healthy scratch in each of the first two weeks, proving he's behind Lestar Jean and Keshawn Martin on the depth chart.

Texans third-round pick DeVier Posey has yet to catch a pass through two preseason games.

Posey was one of the rawest players on the field during spring practices, and he's continued to develop slowly in camp and preseason games. Coach Gary Kubiak confirmed that Posey is on the third-team offense: "I just think that it has taken him a little bit more time to get going with the offense, so to speak."

Coach Gary Kubiak cited inconsistency when asked about third-round WR DeVier Posey.

Posey has been getting a few first-team reps while Andre Johnson (groin) rehabs. "Up and down. Very talented," Kubiak said. "He's got a chance to help this team. He's got to grow real, real fast." So far, it looks like Posey remains behind Lestar Jean and Keshawn Martin on the depth chart.

Texans agreed to terms with No. 68 overall pick WR DeVier Posey on a four-year contact.

Posey drew mixed reviews during the Texans' offseason program, but is still expected to have a role in the offense as a rookie. He's behind fellow rookies Lestar Jean and Keshawn Martin in the competition for No. 3 receiver duties, however. Posey was suspended for all but three games of his senior season at Ohio State. He's off-the-radar in redraft leagues.

A source tells Pro Football Weekly that Texans rookie WRs DeVier Posey and Keshawn Martin both failed to stand out during OTAs.

Posey is rough around the edges after missing all but three games during his senior season due to suspension. The source contradicts coach Gary Kubiak, who said Martin was "exceptional" during OTAs. Lestar Jean appears to be the favorite for No. 3 wide receiver duties, but there's a long way to go.
