Browns OT Donald Stephenson retired after six seasons in the NFL.
Stephenson is not yet 30, but his offseason suggested he might be done with football. Signed to a one-year deal in March, Stephenson skipped Cleveland's mandatory minicamp before being hit with a two-game ban for violating the substance abuse policy. The 2012 third-rounder spent his first four seasons with the Chiefs before a two-year stint in Denver. Jul 6 - 1:30 PM

NFL suspended Browns OT Donald Stephenson two games for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

That's on top of being fined for an unexcused absence at this week's mandatory minicamp. The Browns could make an example out of Stephenson by cutting him, though we imagine he'll stick around as a backup for Shon Coleman and Chris Hubbard. The 29-year-old is coming off a rough season that saw him earn PFF's No. 51 tackle grade out of 83 qualifiers.

Browns coach Hue Jackson said OT Donald Stephenson is incurring fines for missing mandatory minicamp.

Stephenson's absence evidently wasn't pre-cleared. It's not about the contract for a player who just signed in March. Stephenson is probably the favorite for swing tackle duties, but he's not helping himself upsetting the coach in June.

Browns signed OT Donald Stephenson, formerly of the Broncos, to a one-year, $2.5 million contract.

Stephenson was a disaster in limited action last season, earning negative grades from PFF in both pass protection and run-blocking over 303 snaps between right and left tackle. He wouldn't be much of an upgrade on Shon Coleman, who is coming off a similarly dreadful year at right tackle.

Broncos RT Donald Stephenson has agreed to a restructured contract.

It's Stephenson's second "restructure" of the offseason. This is likely a pay cut, one that saves Stephenson's place on the 53-man roster.

The Broncos have agreed to a restructured contract with RT Donald Stephenson.

The restructure gives Stephenson $2 million guaranteed and sets him up for another $2 million if he makes the 53-man roster. There was some thought the Broncos could move on from Stephenson after adding Menelik Watson, but instead they're keeping him on a restructured deal. The Broncos still have a hole to fill at left tackle. Stephenson and Watson are better fits on the right side. Left tackle could be a position Denver addresses in the draft.

The Broncos can save $3 million against the salary cap by releasing RT Donald Stephenson.

Signed to a three-year, $14 million pact last offseason, Stephenson was a massive flop as Denver's starting right tackle. He was Pro Football Focus' second-worst offensive tackle out of 76 qualifiers, finishing only ahead of the Vikings' T.J. Clemmings. The Denver Post's Cameron Wolfe considers it an "easy decision" for the Broncos to cut Stephenson.

Speaking Monday, Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said RT Donald Stephenson "needs to play better."

Stephenson got his soul owned by Cameron Jordan in New Orleans, getting benched in the second half for Ty Sambrailo. It's possible Sambrailo gets the start coming off Denver's Week 11 bye, but Kubiak's comments are an indication Stephenson could get a second chance. Stephenson has struggled all year.

7 News Denver's Troy Renck reports the Broncos are "hopeful" RT Donald Stephenson (calf) will return this week.

It would be surprising if Stephenson did not return after he got in a full practice Monday. After allowing Vic Beasley to almost match his career sack total last Sunday, the Broncos need Stephenson back in the starting lineup.

Broncos RT Donald Stephenson is expected to miss 2-3 weeks with a calf injury.

He got hurt early in Sunday's win over Indianapolis. Darien Weems took his spot at right tackle and should start there during Stephenson's absence.

Broncos agreed to terms with OT Donald Stephenson, formerly of the Chiefs, on a three-year, $14 million contract.

27-year-old Stephenson has starting experience at both offensive tackle positions. The Broncos particularly need help on the right side. Stephenson figures to battle for that job in training camp, attempting to upgrade on Michael Schofield. Ideally a "swing" tackle, Stephenson graded out 54th among 76 qualifiers in PFF's 2015 tackle grades. He struggled most in pass protection.

Donald Stephenson got first-team reps at left tackle during OTAs last week.

Eric Fisher played with the second unit. Head coach Andy Reid said "I wouldn't read anything into that," explaining that it was just an experiment. Fisher was among the worst tackles in football last season and has been a bust since getting drafted first overall in 2013. Stephenson started four games at left tackle in 2013 but only played 31 snaps last season.

Chiefs activated RT Donald Stephenson from the reserve/suspended list.

Stephenson should immediately reassume starting duties from Ryan Harris, who has been ineffective in his absence.
Tue, Sep 30, 2014 06:18:00 PM

NFL suspended Chiefs RT Donald Stephenson four games for violating the league's policy against performance-enhancing drugs.

Stephenson was a below-average starter to begin with, but it's still a big hit to an already shaky Kansas City line. LT Eric Fisher has been pulverized in preseason games after a rough rookie year, while the Chiefs' interior line isn't much better. In Zach Fulton, Kansas City has a sixth-round rookie penned in at right guard. Line-play differential is one reason to support LeSean McCoy over Jamaal Charles as the No. 1 overall pick in 2014 fantasy drafts.

Chiefs G/T Donald Stephenson is expected to miss a week after undergoing finger surgery.

Stephenson won't play in the first preseason game. He's competing to be the Chiefs' starting left guard.
