Darryl Slater of NJ Advance Media named Demario Davis as a leading candidate to replace David Harris at inside linebacker.
Davis hasn't done much to warrant starter status, but the Jets don't have a lot of other options. Darron Lee is a superior talent, but coach Todd Bowles believes he's better suited for the weak side. Davis, who is now in his second stint with the Jets, earned PFF's No. 43 grade out of 57 inside linebackers in 2016. The 28-year-old is entering a contract year. Jul 9 - 9:08 AM

Jets ILB Demario Davis slashed his salary from $3.7 million to $900,000 after his trade from Cleveland.

He's going from a $3.7 million player to a $1 million player, including a $100,000 signing bonus. Davis can earn another $1.225 million in incentives, but it's a hefty pay cut. The Jets were so desperate to get rid of S Calvin Pryor that they may have released Davis had he not accepted the pay reduction.

Jets acquired ILB Demario Davis from the Browns in exchange for S Calvin Pryor.

Drafted by the Jets in the third round of the 2012 draft, it is a homecoming for Davis after a year away in Cleveland. Davis might not get a starting shot behind Darron Lee and David Harris, but he is good depth for a corps which needed it. Davis is set to hit free agency again after this season.

Browns signed ILB Demario Davis, formerly of the Jets, to a two-year, $8 million contract.

And the Browns are on the board. After playing hardball and missing out on their free-agent targets the first week of the league year, Cleveland has finally found someone to take its money. Davis was a 16-game starter last season but hasn't put anything on tape to suggest he's anything more than an average starter.

Free agent ILB Demario Davis is visiting the Browns.

Davis was a 16-game starter for the Jets each of the past three seasons, but was mostly just taking up space in 2015. He's not expected to return to Gang Green. He'd be an underwhelming foray into free agency for a Browns team that's seemed completely bewildered by the open market under its new management.

The New York Daily News' Manish Mehta doesn't expect the Jets to re-sign free agent ILB Demario Davis.

Ex-Jets coach Rex Ryan once loosely compared Davis to future Hall of Famer Ray Lewis, but Davis never lived up to the hype on the field and reportedly drove teammates up a wall when he was trying to act like a leader off it. Davis' snaps were cut way back over the final six weeks of this past season.

In-house reporter Chris Brown considers free agent ILB Demario Davis a potential fit for the Bills.

Coming off a down year, the Jets are expected to re-sign Erin Henderson over Davis. The Bills have a tight cap situation and should only have interest in Davis if he drops below market-value. A Rex Ryan favorite during his first three seasons, Davis could be an option to replace Nigel Bradham.

ESPN Jets reporter Rich Cimini does not expect impending free agent ILB Demario Davis to re-sign with the team.

A third-round pick in 2012, Davis took a step back in his first year playing in Todd Bowles' scheme. Still young and with some good play on tape in 2014, Davis should be able to find a home early in free agency. Davis had 89 tackles in two sacks while starting all 16 games last season.

Jets ILB Demario Davis is expected to be a "huge presence" in new coach Todd Bowles' defense.

Davis progressed rapidly under Rex Ryan, going from special teamer as a rookie in 2012 to starting every game across 2013 and 2014. Last year, he was PFF's No. 15 inside linebacker and helped IDP owners by finishing T-13th in tackles with 116. Davis, in a contract year, is a fine LB2 target again under Bowles.

Jets coach Rex Ryan confirmed 2012 third-round pick Demario Davis will be a starter in his second season.

He'll take Bart Scott's place next to David Harris. "He's our No. 1 WILL linebacker on our depth chart," Ryan said of Davis. "Clearly Demario is a guy we feel very good about." Davis primarily played in nickel packages last season, amassing 36 tackles across 16 games. He'll be on the LB3 radar in IDP leagues.

ESPN New York expects Demario Davis to replace Bart Scott as a starting inside linebacker in 2013.

Scott is fully expected to be released along with OLB Calvin Pace. That leaves Davis, a 2012 third-round pick that will provide an upgrade in athleticism. He projects to give IDP owners more than the 60 tackles, 2.5 sacks and one interception Scott provided last season.

ESPN New York expects third-round pick Demario Davis to challenge for the Jets' starting weak-side linebacker job "if he develops quickly."

Davis was drafted as Bart Scott's replacement, and is expected to see heavy snaps in nickel packages. It's not unrealistic to think he could overtake Scott at some point the season. Davis is the top backup at both inside linebacker spots.

The Sideline View's Adam Caplan has issued an IDP alert for Jets third-round ILB Demario Davis.

"For those who are in fantasy dynasty leagues with defensive players, go get ‪#Jets‬ ILB Demario Davis," tweeted Caplan, who has a fantasy football analyst background. Caplan wrote that Davis profiles as Bart Scott's replacement in 2013, when Scott's guaranteed money runs out. One NFL exec told Caplan that Davis projects as an 8-10 year starter "based on his talent level, which is strong."

Jets agreed to terms with third-round LB Demario Davis on a four-year contract.

The former Arkansas State star earned high praise in rookie minicamp from coach Rex Ryan, who compared his skills to Bart Scott and his leadership to Ray Lewis. Expected to be a "major contributor" from the start, Davis is already working with the first team in nickel packages as a coverage linebacker. He'll also contribute on special teams while being groomed for a starting job.

After watching No. 77 pick LB Demario Davis for two days at Jets' rookie minicamp, ESPN New York believes ILB Bart Scott "better be on (his) game when camp opens."

Davis' 4.49 40 speed apparently translates quite well to the practice field, while coach Rex Ryan has already compared Davis' leadership abilities to Ray Lewis'. Davis is tentatively expected to spell Scott on passing downs, but his role could grow with an impressive camp.
