Third-round DE Tyrone Crawford is drawing rave reviews in Cowboys camp.

"We may have hit big on him," executive VP Stephen Jones said. The former Boise State standout is over a recent calf strain and pushing Marcus Spears for reps. Crawford figures to work behind Spears and Jason Hatcher as a situational pass rusher for most of his rookie season.

Cowboys signed No. 81 overall pick DE Tyrone Crawford to a four-year contract.

The Boise State star racked up 11 sacks and 13.5 tackles for a loss as a senior before being diagnosed with a heart murmur at the Combine. A future pocket-pusher at defensive end, Crawford has missed recent practices with a calf strain.

Cowboys selected Boise State DE Tyrone Crawford with the No. 81 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.

Crawford goes 6-foot-4 and 275 pounds, and with nearly 34-inch arms he will be a defensive end in Dallas' 3-4 scheme, likely competing for time on the weak side of the formation. After transferring from JUCO, Crawford spent two seasons at Boise and collected 27 tackles for loss to go with 13.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and two blocked kicks. He can push the pocket.
