Cowboys signed DT Tyrone Crawford to a five-year, $45 million extension.
Crawford was set to make $675,000 in the final year of his rookie deal. The extension includes $25.7 million guaranteed and makes him one of the highest paid 4-3 defensive tackles. Crawford had a breakout 2014 in DC Rod Marinelli's scheme, posting 29 hurries, three sacks, and grading out positively against the run by PFF. Crawford is locked up through 2020, his age-30 season. Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said "sky is the limit" for fourth-year DT Tyrone Crawford.

PFF echoed that sentiment by calling Crawford "a secret superstar." After missing 2013 with a torn Achilles', Crawford emerged as a solid three technique last year in Rod Marinelli's 4-3 scheme. He made his presence felt as a pass-rusher by pressuring the quarterback 29 times. With Crawford entering a contract year, Jerry Jones will have to open up his checkbook to keep the talented 25-year-old in Dallas.

The Dallas Morning News expects Cowboys DT Tyrone Crawford to earn "a big pay day."

Crawford is entering the final year of his rookie deal and coming off a breakout 2014 season after seeing his 2013 campaign lost to a torn Achilles'. A 'tweener to begin his career, Crawford settled in as the Cowboys' starting three-technique and graded out as PFF's No. 13 defensive tackle. He racked up 45 combined sacks, hits, and hurries and should see an uptick in snaps this year.

Cowboys declared LB Tyrone Crawford, QB Dustin Vaughan, LB Tim Dobbins, OT Tony Hills, OT Donald Hawkins, DB Jakar Hamilton and DT Davon Coleman inactive for Week 10 against the Jaguars.

Crawford has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL. The only player generating consistent pass rush this year, Crawford will be a big miss for the Cowboys' defense.

Cowboys LE Tyrone Crawford has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL.

It's not the news the Cowboys needed to hear, as Crawford has been arguably their most effective lineman this season. At the bare minimum, Crawford will miss two weeks, but will likely be sidelined for over a month. If there's good news, it's that the Cowboys are going on bye in Week 11, so Crawford has a free week to heal up.

Cowboys LE Tyrone Crawford suffered an MCL injury in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals.

A nine-game starter this season, Crawford is considered doubtful for next week's trip to London to take on the Jaguars. It's bad news for the thinnest front seven in the league.

Cowboys DL Tyrone Crawford admits he's experienced more soreness than expected in his return from a torn Achilles' tendon, but claims he's "completely healed."

"It’s still sore, but that’s getting used to being at practice," Crawford said. "I’m just going to get through OTAs. ... Hopefully I feel good by training camp." The Cowboys' embarrassingly thin defensive line can ill afford a setback from Crawford, who's expected to see snaps both at three-technique and left end.

Cowboys DL Tyrone Crawford (Achilles') participated on the first day of OTAs Tuesday.

Crawford practiced at left defensive end initially, but the Cowboys see him as primarily a three technique, competing for snaps with injured Henry Melton. The Cowboys are dangerously weak throughout the front seven. A big year from Crawford would go a long way toward stabilizing the defensive line.

Cowboys DL Tyrone Crawford (Achilles') said he's still trying to get back to 100 percent.

Crawford tore his Achilles' on the first day of training camp last summer. He's been taking part in offseason workouts but admits there's still " a lot of pain sometimes." Crawford is expected to see snaps inside and outside for Dallas at three-technique and left end, behind starters Henry Melton and George Selvie.

Cowboys DL Tyrone Crawford (Achilles) is expected to be ready for OTAs.

Crawford missed all of 2013 on injured reserve. He's eight months removed from his torn Achilles' tendon and on track for offseason workouts. As long as he stays healthy, Crawford should see regular snaps as part of the Cowboys' defensive line rotation.

Coach Jason Garrett said DL Tyrone Crawford has recovered from his torn Achilles' tendon.

Crawford tore his heel on the first day of 2013 training camp. The 2012 third-rounder would be eased back into the mix on most teams, but the Cowboys are absolutely desperate for bodies on the defensive line. Crawford is going to play a ton as a versatile piece capable of lining up at both tackle and end.

The Cowboys are "confident" DL Tyrone Crawford can be a "key cog" in their 2014 defense despite his 2013 Achilles' tendon tear.

Crawford is expected to be healthy by training camp, but this may be wishful thinking and typical hoping by a Cowboys organization with precious little cap space and very little margin for error. Crawford has appeared in 16 career games, registering zero sacks. For now, he's penciled in as a 2014 starter.

Cowboys placed DE Tyrone Crawford on injured reserve with a torn Achilles' tendon, ending his season.

Crawford went down on the first day of camp. The 2012 third-round pick was expected to be a core run-stopping rotational end behind Anthony Spencer and DeMarcus Ware. The Cowboys' run defense looks like one to target for fantasy matchup purposes. Crawford, 23, will return to compete for a roster spot in 2014.

Cowboys DE Tyrone Crawford suffered a torn Achilles' on the first day of training camp and will miss the entire 2013 season.

The 81st pick in the 2012 draft, Crawford was markered in as Dallas' No. 3 end behind DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer. At 6-foot-4, 275, he was easily the Cowboys' biggest defensive end, and coming off a promising rookie year as a run stopper. As we've noted repeatedly, Dallas' run defense is shaping up as suspect on paper with one of the smallest front sevens in football. And after years of poor drafting, the Cowboys' depth is in rapid decline. The Crawford injury is a sizable blow to a team whose arrow was already pointing down.

Cowboys 2012 third-round DE Tyrone Crawford was carted off the field on the first day of training camp Sunday with a potentially serious Achilles' injury.

He fell awkwardly during a tackling-dummy drill. As the cart approached, Crawford was "holding his head" in agony. Beat reporter Todd Archer compared the injury to LB Caleb McSurdy's last summer, which was a torn Achilles' tendon. Crawford was expected to be a key depth piece at defensive end and tackle.
