Titans GM Jon Robinson confirmed Ben Jones will start at center.
Jones was a guard until last year, but the Titans plan to keep him at center. His addition isn't much of an upgrade to the interior line. Jones will push Brian Schwenke to a reserve role. Apr 9 - 4:27 PM

Titans agreed to terms with C Ben Jones, formerly of the Texans, on a four-year contract.

Jones started his career as a guard, but made the switch to center last season, playing 1,274 snaps through knee and back issues. The Titans are making it a point to upgrade their offensive line, and Jones will replace Brian Schwenke at the pivot after Schwenke has yet been able to finish a 16-game season thanks to injuries and ineffectiveness. Jones was a league-average starter at best in Houston, finishing 2015 as Pro Football Focus' No. 22 center out of 40.

The Texans have opened talks with free agent C Ben Jones.

Jones moved from guard to center last year, starting all 16 games. He reportedly played through a sprained MCL and back injury. The Texans shouldn’t have trouble keeping Jones on a short-term deal.

Texans impending free agent C Ben Jones played through a sprained MCL and a back injury this season.

"That’s just part of the business, I do whatever it takes to win," Jones said. "I’m out there just trying to grind every week and do what it takes every week to go out there and try to get a win." Jones will not require surgery for either issue. Jones struggled somewhat in his transition from guard to center, but the Texans will likely try to bring him back.

The Texans will move OG Ben Jones to center.

Jones started all 16 games at left guard last season. The Texans are staying in-house to replace Chris Myers, moving Jones to center and starting second-year LG Xavier Su'a-Filo. 25-year-old Jones is in the final year of his rookie deal.

The Texans listed rookie Ben Jones as the starting right guard on their most recent depth chart.

Jones rotated with Antoine Caldwell throughout the first seven games, but Caldwell started every week. However, Pro Football Focus has given Caldwell a very poor grade this year, especially as a run blocker, and he is in the last year of his rookie deal. Houston may have used the bye week to execute a permanent change at right guard. The Texans are averaging just 2.96 YPC behind the right guard this season.

Texans selected Georgia C Ben Jones with the No. 99 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.

An interesting fit for the Texans' zone scheme, Jones prefers to latch on and control defensive linemen at the point of attack rather than get to the second level. Jones does not possess a real one-step anchor in pass protection but has active and sound hand placement with a lower pad level off the snap. A technician in the middle of the offensive line, the Texans landed a top five center in the draft. Adam Caplan of The Sideline View reported that "some teams" had third-round grades on Jones' game tape.
