Broncos waived C/G Philip Blake.
It's a bad sign for Blake that he can't stick on a team that lost both J.D. Walton and Dan Koppen to season-ending injuries. The 2012 fourth-rounder is eligible for the practice squad. Sat, Aug 31, 2013 12:07:00 PM

Broncos signed fourth-round C Philip Blake to a four-year contract.

Although Blake was a center at Baylor, he worked at guard during the Senior Bowl and has suggested that will be his primary position in Denver. Former college teammate J.D. Walton isn't yet in danger of losing his starting job, which means the 26-year-old Blake will likely work as the interior swing man as a rookie.

Broncos selected Baylor G/C Philip Blake with the No. 108 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.

A three starter at right tackle and center, Blake snapped to Robert Griffin III last season. With J.D. Walton at center in Denver, Blake will likely be used as a jack-of-all-trades on the interior. Wide-bodied with active hands and solid footwork, Blake could develop into a starter down the line. He's an older prospect at age 26.
