ESPN Cleveland's Tony Grossi says impending free agent CB Sheldon Brown "won't be back" with the Browns.
New defensive coordinator Ray Horton was recently noncommittal on if the team had plans of re-signing Brown. "We're still going through our evaluation process. I don’t know what Sheldon Brown wants. It’s one of those deals where a player’s a free agent, you can’t dictate what’s going to happen in the market. I’d like to have everybody back," said Horton. Brown, 34 in March, performed well in 2012, but he'll likely have to settle for a one- or two-year deal this offseason. Wed, Jan 30, 2013 10:08:00 PM

Browns RCB Sheldon Brown's (concussion) Week 17 status is "in jeopardy."

Brown suffered the concussion midway through the Week 16 loss to the Broncos when WR Brandon Stokley leveled him on a pick play to free up Demaryius Thomas on a crossing pattern. Brown has played in 175 straight games. He'll hit the free agent market this offseason as a 34-year-old coming off a fine season. Cleveland ends the season in Pittsburgh this Sunday.

Browns RCB Sheldon Brown was forced from Cleveland's Week 16 game against the Broncos with a head injury, and will not return.

He's been replaced by Buster Skrine. Brown was likely concussed on a thundering mid-field collision with Broncos WR Brandon Stokley. It could be a season-ending injury, as the Browns will have little reason to rush Brown back for Week 17. Starting opposite Joe Haden, Brown has graded out as a top-15 cornerback in Pro Football Focus' ratings.

Sheldon Brown has lost his starting RCB job to Buster Skrine.

Brown missed the Week 2 loss to the Bengals due to a shoulder/neck injury. He's back now, but will only play in the nickel package. The Browns want to see what they have in Skrine while Joe Haden serves his suspension. It's a favorable turn of events for opposing passing attacks, starting with the Bills this week.

Browns RCB Sheldon Brown (stinger) is expected to be available for Week 2 against the Bengals.

Cleveland's pass defense got smoked by Jeremy Maclin after Brown left the opener, as the Eagles picked on Buster Skrine. Brown is 33 years old and gradually fading, but he's still Cleveland's second best cover man behind Joe Haden.

Browns RCB Sheldon Brown left Sunday's loss to the Eagles with a stinger in the first quarter and did not return.

Brown's absence proved critical. Buster Skrine came on to cover Jeremy Maclin and was attacked repeatedly by the Eagles. If Brown can't go next week, Andy Dalton and the Bengals' passing game gets a little boost.

Browns GM Tom Heckert says CB Sheldon Brown will not be moving to safety.

"Sheldon Brown is never going to play safety unless some disaster happens," Heckert said. "You can put that to bed." There have been rumblings of a position switch for Brown since his Philly days, but it's not happening in Cleveland. Now 33, Brown will be pushed for the No. 2 corner job by Dimitri Patterson and Buster Skrine. Usama Young and T.J. Ward are the Browns' starting safeties.

The Browns are expected to once again consider moving RCB Sheldon Brown to free safety this offseason.

Talk of Brown changing positions began in 2010 and carried over to last offseason as well, though it's never come to fruition. Now 33, Brown's effectiveness in man coverage is waning. He began to lose snaps to Dimitri Patterson and Buster Skrine late last season.

Browns RCB Sheldon Brown said he's willing to move to safety next season.

In terms of one-on-one coverage ability, Brown's effectiveness is declining sharply at age 32. He's losing snaps to Dimitri Patterson and sixth-round rookie Buster Skrine, a sign that Cleveland may not want to pay his $3.7 million base salary next year. Brown has never played safety in his career.

Browns CB Sheldon Brown suffered a groin injury in Sunday's win over the Dolphins.

Prior to leaving, Brown was getting picked on by Chad Henne as Joe Haden locked up Brandon Marshall across the field. Brown was replaced by Buster Skrine. His status for Week 4 is unclear.

Browns RCB Sheldon Brown has been available for limited work at players-only activities after undergoing offseason surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff.

"I'm on track to be back on the field when I need to be," said Brown, hinting that he should be 100 percent before the season. Brown has played 16 games in seven straight seasons. He had 63 tackles and two interceptions last year.

Browns CB Sheldon Brown revealed that he underwent surgery "a couple of weeks" after the season to repair a torn rotator cuff.

Brown injured the shoulder attempting to tackle Braylon Edwards in mid-November, playing through pain the rest of the way. He expects to be 100 percent by June. Brown is penciled in as the starter opposite Joe Haden, but the Browns will consider moving him to safety depending on their draft haul.

Browns coach Eric Mangini is optimistic that RCB Sheldon Brown (shoulder) will be able to practice later this week.

He took a helmet-to-helmet hit Sunday and had an MRI Monday, the results of which are not yet known. Brown never misses games -- literally -- but it's certainly possible this injury could keep him out. Check back later this week.
Tue, Nov 16, 2010 10:22:00 AM

Browns RCB Sheldon Brown is set for a Monday MRI to determine the extent of his shoulder/neck injury.

Brown took a helmet-to-helmet shot while trying to make a tackle on Braylon Edwards in the first quarter yesterday. He could not turn his head after the game. Brown never missed a single game during his eight seasons with the Eagles.
