Panthers signed WR Jarius Wright, formerly of the Vikings, to a three-year contract.
Wright finished the playoffs as the Vikings' primary third receiver but was cut three days ago to save Minnesota $2.64 million under the cap. 28-year-old Wright has background with new Panthers OC Norv Turner and will be the favorite to overtake Russell Shepard as Carolina's new slot receiver. Vikings released WR Jarius Wright.

The move saves Minnesota $2.64 million. Wright wasn't worth keeping after a pair of non-descript seasons as the Vikings' primary slot receiver. His release opens up snaps for Laquon Treadwell.

Jarius Wright caught 3-of-6 targets for 51 yards in the Vikings' NFC title game loss to the Eagles.

Wright spent 2017 rotating with Laquon Treadwell and Michael Floyd in the Vikings’ No. 3 receiver role. The team committed to Wright as its full-time No. 3 in the playoffs, and he delivered stat lines of 3/56/0 and 3/51/0 in two postseason games. Wright has finished below 200 yards in consecutive years. The Vikings will now decide whether Wright is worthy of his $3.6 million salary for 2018.

Jarius Wright grabbed three-of-six targets for 56 yards Sunday in the Vikings’ Divisional Round win over the Saints.

He had the Vikings' longest play from scrimmage—a 27-yard strike from Case Keenum in the fourth quarter—until Stefon Diggs broke loose for a game-ending 61-yard touchdown. Wright also came down with a 22-yard catch on the game's opening drive. Wright appears to have settled in as Minnesota's No. 3 receiver ahead of Michael Floyd and Laquon Treadwell. He'll face the Eagles on the road in next week's NFC Championship bout.

Jarius Wright caught 3-of-4 targets for 54 yards in the Vikings' Week 7 win over the Ravens.

Wright operated as the Vikings' No. 3 wideout with Stefon Diggs and Michael Floyd on the shelf and led the team in receiving yards. He can be a useful rotational player coming off the bench, but Wright carries no fantasy value.

Vikings WR Jarius Wright is on the roster bubble.

Wright is entering his third season of a four-year, $15.5 million extension signed in 2015. He was active for just eight games last year, playing under 12 percent of snaps. Wright isn't needed after the Vikings added Michael Floyd and late-rounders Rodney Adams and Stacy Coley. Releasing Wright would save $2.6M.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune's Andrew Krammer believes Jarius Wright "could be on the move" this offseason.

That would be a safe assumption after Wright played just over 11 percent of the offensive snaps and was routinely a healthy scratch. Wright signed a five-year deal two Septembers ago but quickly fell out of favor. The Vikings can save $2.6 million making him a post-June 1 cut.

Jarius Wright caught 5-of-7 targets for 24 yards and one touchdown in the Vikings' Week 17 win over the Bears.

Coming into Week 17, Wright had played just 75 offensive snaps on the year. He was in for 42 of the plays Sunday with Stefon Diggs (hip) out and Adam Thielen battling a neck issue. Wright signed a five-year, $15 million contract in September of 2015 but fell out of the picture this season. He was routinely a healthy scratch. Wright is a candidate to switch teams this offseason.

Jarius Wright caught all four of his targets for 32 yards Week 5 against the Texans.

With Stefon Diggs sidelined, Wright was active and filled in as the slot receiver. He played well and made a few big catches including a third-down conversion in the first half, but he will fade back into obscurity once Diggs returns after the bye.

Jarius Wright is inactive for Week 2 against the Packers.

It's Wright's second straight game as a healthy scratch. Vikings LT Matt Kalil is active and will start. The rest of Minnesota's inactives are DT Sharrif Floyd, CB Xavier Rhodes, TE MyCole Pruitt, LB Kentrell Brothers, OG Nick Easton, and LB Edmond Robinson.

ESPN's Ben Goessling reports the Vikings are attempting to trade WR Jarius Wright.

Wright missed a large chunk of camp with a hamstring injury, but he was able to return for the final two preseason games. While it is good he was able to get back on the field, it was not a great sign for his roster chances he was asked to play 39 snaps in the final preseason game. Even if he sticks around, Wright is clearly behind Adam Thielen on the depth chart. Wright signed a five-year, $15.46 million contract last September.

Jarius Wright (calf, lower leg) hasn't practiced since August 6.

Coach Mike Zimmer isn't revealing the nature of Wright's injury, but Wright admitted he's not wearing the sleeve on his lower left leg as a fashion statement, suggesting it's a calf issue. Wright is expected to lock down the slot job this season. Adam Thielen has been working there the past 10 days.

Jarius Wright caught 1-of-3 targets for nine yards in the Vikings' Wild Card loss to the Seahawks.

The Vikings' slot receiver caught 34 passes for 442 yards in his fourth NFL campaign. Even if Mike Wallace is released, Wright's numbers are unlikely to spike for 2016. Stefon Diggs is a more natural play-maker. Wright is a role player.

Jarius Wright caught 2-of-3 targets for 21 yards in Sunday night's Week 17 win over the Packers.

Wright had a red-zone target in the first half, but couldn’t come down with it. He managed 34 catches and 442 yards in the regular season, but failed to score a touchdown. Minnesota takes on Seattle in next week's Wild Card Round.

Jarius Wright caught three passes for 57 yards in Week 16 against the Giants.

With Minnesota going run-heavy, Wright led the Vikings in receiving. He has 140 yards over his last three games. Wright isn’t more than a WR5 for Week 17.
